Just like in the 1960s when man raced each other to be the first to land on the moon, the race to be the first to land a quadruple axel has started.

Who would be the first to do a full 4.25 rotation, no fall, no step-out, no turn-out, no two-footed, no hand down quad axel? The final jump frontier of figure skating.

Will it be Yuzuru Hanyu the Prince of Japan?
Will it be Max Aaron, the Lion King who needs to reclaim his US throne from the non-quadders?
Will it be Brendan Kerry, the man from the Southern Hemisphere?
Will it be Nathan Chen, the one who would only think about it in the 2018-2019 season?
Will it be Boyang Jin, who would perform the quad axel with the theme from Aquaman?

@gladiolusc Thank you so much for the translation! This is pure gold, the best thing I've read in the past week! I have been listening to these two guys since nearly 20 years and I love listening to them so much. They are always enthusiastic and positive, and they have a good balance of what they say, when and how they speak.
If one of them missing a competition then it is never the same
I agree with so many things they said in the interview, e.g. Simon said Yuzuru is dignified and stately (...) and even when he fails, it’s as if nothing happened (....) he continues in a majestic manner. His combination of delicacy and strength, how he faces and overcomes pressure, how he pushes his limits every single time...I agree with them completely.

Wow! Yuzuru is really much loved around the globe. Such star power and charisma he's got. Really awesome. :hap10:

From the messages, it looks like quite a number of new fans discovered him through YOI  ...

I deduced  the major wave of new fans acquired were Nice 2012, Sochi 2014, YOI...and minor wave COC 2014, NHK/GPF 2015

Sochi may be the biggest. I was shocked at the progressing speed of pages in this thread

I call it "Before Sochi and After Sochi" in Yuzuru history.

Hey, we've got some days to make up with the gap!
And we've never had such an off-season before. :(

You guys don't know how happy I am at the moment. This is the first Chrismas after knowing him that I am able to enjoy myself without worrying about his competition. :drama: I have just bought some cakes while following Russian Nationals. So peaceful... :luv17:

Haha! "slower" :-D

3+ pages per day on average, for a whole year... is still pretty fast... ;-D
I'm afraid this thread has different standards now  on average our level of insanity is pretty much on par with that of our favorite space kitten

If he hadn't withdrawn from the Nats, we'd all be feverishly tapping into our keyboards now. And moaning Shoma is overscored, for instance... :)

I'd probably be busy hitting my keyboard against something because I couldn't find a working livestream and my anti-virus software would keep yelling at me "no, don't do that!!" :rolleye:

if you just post what gets typed while you're hitting your keyboard, we'd see what it thinks of you... ;)

That's quite true :o I realized last night that i didn't feel like waking up at 6am in the morning to catch the live stream, and that I could just catch up with the news after the fact. Peaceful, indeed.
As it is, I'm quite happy for Mura *v*
