They will announce their WC, AWG and 4CC teams on Sunday 21.00 Japan time if I am not mistaken.

I am asking this here bc some people complained in Jpn Nats thread that Yuzu's fans compared Shoma to Yuzu a lot. Not intending to be sarcastic whatsoever, but what's the difference between Yuzu's bombed 70+ SP with Shoma's SP in this competition? Im not an expert in the judging system but how can Yuzu got 70- low 80s score when he missed his jumps but Shoma got 88? Is that bc of Zayak?

At SC? Well for one, it was Nationals for Shoma, while Yuzu was at international competition. Second, Shoma did rotate 2 quads while Yuzu popped one into a doble and had an UR (or was it a downgrade?) on another one. I'm not sure what they each got in the spins and levels, though.

Thankss! i thought when u can't get a combo in SP then it doesn't count or u get a really loooowww score, thus Yuzu's low score. But then I saw Shoma's score today and I was so confused.

For this year's SC Yuzuru's 4Lo was downgraded into a 3Lo and his 4S combo was popped into a 3S and he got no combo (he basically did 3 triples program there). For AC, he popped the 4S into a single sal. For Shoma, well, he got 86 almost 87 with similar performance at GPF (a fall and a missed combo, his 4T was even downgraded) so I don't think the score is that off tbh.

O ok. Thanks for the explanation. I didn't pay attention to Shoma's SP score at GPF bc he's not in the top 3 and people were really into Javi's score in GPF men's SP thread too that time.

Well yeah the reality now is you got the first tier guy (Yuzu, Javi, Patrick) who would get 45-46 in SP and 90-92 in FS (maybe 47/93 when judge feels generous) PCS when they bomb or not clean; 47-49 and 97-99 when clean. Then you got Shoma in the next one, 42-44 and mid to high 80s when not clean and maybe 45-46 + 90-93 when clean (I predict Nathan would join this tier too sooner or later). Then you got the "artistic guys" who might not have their tech content but is generally deemed as having good components like Rippon and Brown (maybe I will include Denis in this group too, though his PCS has suffered because of last year), who will get low 40s and mid 80s when not clean and 42-45 + high 80s to low 90s when clean.
I don't personally agree with how things are but that is just how it is now.

In Japanese Nationals, the scores are not so inflated compared to that of other countries, or even harsher than the world standards sometimes, tbh.

I 100% agree. I saw Russian, Italian, Spanish and French Nats this year and compared to them, Japanese Nats is very very fair, conservative and even a bit stingy, I think. At best you got 2-3 points inflation? Last year is the same. I don't think Yuzuru would get 102 pts with 47+PCS in international competition with a 4S fall but 99 touching almost 100 is definitely a score he will get internationally for the same performance. So their score is not so inflated and far-off compared to international standard, in my opinion.
