2017 U.S. Nationals Championship Ladies SP

I'm glad she fought for the 3lz/3toe I don't get why Tara and Johnny are making it sound like she fell on two elements yes the 2flip getting invalidated is a big deal but for this season I'll take it.

PLEASE DISCARD THE 3FLIP IN THE SP LAYOUT!!!!!

I really don't understand the obsession with the flip. She can jump 3 loop beautifully. When ever has she even gotten a success with the jump in the SP?

This is so frustrating.

Considering all her troubles you would have thought saving that opening 3-3 combo would have boosted the spirits tremendously and made her fight for the rest of the program, but nope, its like it didn't make a difference to her at all :palmf:

Well, she doubled the flip, but since she does that all the time, I'm pretty happy. And much more importantly, SHE looks happy. And calmer.

Why happy? That doubled flip cost her and she got no points for her solo jump. Better to go for it and fall and get the rotation at least but Gracie doesn't have the grit to fight for those jumps.

Well, it was great that she landed the 3lz/3T, but I thought Gracie did not perform at all. She was expressionless and emotionless (other than the fist clenching in triumph after the combo) and very little "tango" interpretation.

Shame about the 2F, she threw away a ton of points.

Really? I thought her footwork after all the jumps were done was fierce and passionate as all get out...One of her best footworks of the past few years.

She was completely deadpan throughout that other than the smile after she hung on to her 3-3. Well, she got through it and I'm happy that she didn't completely meltdown.

It's very annoying that Tara keeps on saying its "mental". How does she know? Clearly Johnny doesn't agree but he can't say anything because its obviously not suitable to discuss.

I thought she was going to get around 36, well she is in good position despite this. I could see her making the podium Saturday. She skated with good intensity throughout.

Gracie has doubled the flip when she was in top shape. What matters is that she is happy and relieved, she will do better in the FS and finish top 3.

BTW---last year, Gracie got 62.50 in the SP (less than today) and went on to win the FS.

Megan Wessenberg: Aw, that 3T+3T looked great in the air, but a fall on the second 3T. Good 3Lo comeback. Only a 1A from the ina bauer - invalid. Shaky debut, didn't really cast a spell.
