2017 Canadian Nats Senior Women's SP

Pina :luv17: I feel like Canadian ladies could earn three spots for Olympics this year. They are really great!

woohoo Alaine! she looked super nervous, but great job considering her awful season, and following 2 brilliant skates by Kaetlyn and Gabby.

PINA! Yes, Alaine, you made such a good decision....love this program. New dress matches Pina herself.....3Lo a bit dodgy, but so good to see you back>>

I love this program for Alaine. Lots of personality. So glad she skated so well in that pressure cooker... just a scratchy landing, little slower spin... tiny things, but I think she will be 3rd.

Good job Gabby! Bit of an ugly air position on the triple lutz. Her jumps are lovely

Missed Alaine. She doesn't look happy.

The Canadian announcers are so proud of their outdoing the USA in National Inflation. How many more time are we going to be reminded that Karen "only" scored 72 last night?

Has that always been a thing? For the Canadian announcers to refer to US Nationals (and vice versa)?

The URs hurting Alaine again. :( It's gonna be hard for her to keep up with Gabby and Kaetlyn unless she gets that under control.

To me the top Canadian women look stronger than the American ladies.

Sad for Alaine underrotating.

Canadian commentators have a tendency to do that because there are always top countries in each discipline so when a Canadian does comparable to them or better, it is kind of a big deal to them - especially in a typically weak discipline like Canadian ladies singles. I remember ages ago Putnam and Wirtz did huge throws at Canadian Nationals and Debbi Wilkes was insistent that the throws were as good as the Chinese. If the Chinese weren't good at throws or if the US women weren't ones to beat, they probably wouldn't make the comparison.

This is definitely a time to get excited though. Those two performances by Osmond and Daleman would put them both in the final flight at Worlds, and definitely put Osmond in podium position.

Kudos to a good effort from Chartrand, but the top 2 have really upped their game.

I loved all 3 girls. I am happy Alaine stayed on her feet. I love this program. I's weird that her best jump is 3Lz...Kaetlyn should lead, but the score is super inflated.

Sometimes Canadian commentators reference US Nats, but it is a more recent thing. It was not like that years ago. I think with more accessibility online etc., they do reference other competitions now... especially US Nats, when they are on at the same time. It is easy to compare then.

I do not mind. Kind of gives average viewers an idea of how competitive the skater may be 7nternationally.
