I have so many thoughts, and can’t read them enough here, but I want to withdraw the decision to leave here since I love figure skating like Joshua says.

I am so grad you are coming back. As a Japanese, I understand why you anted to leave GS; however I think GS stuffs & members is doing really great job to make this forum to be fair and fun. Although I don't follow any Japanese web-site about figure-skating, I often visit this forum because there are so many interesting & knowledgeable posts from our fellow members, and you are one of them. So, welcome back hamaguri!

:otopic: I am very envious you for living in Czech. It is one of my favorite countries which I want to visit again!

Thanks everyone who give me a reply post or PM! I was really glad to read them. Sorry to be late. It may take some time to send back, but I just want to say all of your messages reached my heart. Many thanks and love to everyone.

Personally I began skating for the first time here in Czech. I came to like to skate, and I’ve got the figure skating technique book for beginners from Japan (it is the book by Machiko-sensei which has very good reputation and one of model girls is young Kanako. So cute!). Some of you may know of it, but I moved to Czech from Japan last autumn. Living in a totally different circumstances, I have managed to live thanks to so many helps of local people. And I got figure skating, and found that it’s just really fun to be on the ice. I go to the rink almost every weekdays. On the ice, Im totally free. But at the same time, I really realized how much ice is hard and cold. It’s the fight with fears. I come to know that all the skaters went through the long way to show their performances today. It's like a miracle to see those performance!.

Further, they are young and just devote themselves to this sport, which they love. They are not concerned with the dirty side of this sport. The period when skaters are competing is short. I want to cherish the period with you.

Finally, I’m so sorry to post my personal thing here although it is Shoma thread! ( i searched for his news, but couldnt find!)

Welcome back! I don't often post in this thread, but I do read it, and was really sad that you had decided to stop posting. I'm glad that you - like Josh - have changed your mind and returned!

:yahoo::hap57: :dance2::peace: Hooray! My prayer is answered! Just last night synesthesia and I were saying (in Uncle Dai's thread) how sad we were that you wouldn't be posting anymore. This has turned out to be a week for good news -- new coach for Gracie Gold, Shoma is in hiding and probably training like a maniac, Josh is back, hamaguri is back!

Yes we have had a lot of good news this week and the return of hamaguri is at the top of my list!

Hi Hamaguri!
I have no words to describe how happy I am with your return! Welcome back!!!! :hap10::yes2::hap85:

PS: also, I'm very happy for Gracie's new coaching team. More than happy to hear Joshua is coming back (what a gift to all of us figure skating fans)!

Hamaguri, it's so good to have you back! :yes2: As Arriba said, we were just talking about you in Dai's thread, so your timing is almost spooky! When I read about your decision to leave, I was truly bummed.

It's so wonderful to hear, that you've been able to gradually adjust to your life in the Czech Republic and that starting to skate might have helped a little. Indulging in activities we love can truly have a therapeutic effect.

What a positively eventful week! :yahoo:
(apart from the Satoko-news...)

Clarification please -- Does anyone remember that after the new costumes were introduced, it was written somewhere that those were only for the ice shows? I think he's still sticking to the original costumes, right; Or am I just hallucinating over the purple pants? I was trying to find this information but didn't see it.

Junko is his mother, right? He looks so good! I'm already getting panicky, fellow Shoma lovers. I'm so afraid for Shoma. He doesn't have the PCS of Yuzuru and Patrick and he doesn't have the tech of Nathan and Boyang. I'm afraid he's going to be left behind. *everthepessimist*

Welcome back, hamaguri! My advice is to avoid the competition threads. Fanfests are usually fun places!

Sending good thought to Shoma for the 4CCs next week. I really want to see him medal, but it might be hard if Boyang Jin executed these planned upgrades to his LP: https://twitter.com/pandaatlarge/status/830024036583247872.

I think Shoma has superior PCS to Jin (and Nathen Chen) but I'm not sure it will be enough if all four (I'm including Hangul) men are clean.

I think a Men's event where everyone is clean is kind of the exception, especially with all the quads. Unfortunately Shoma also tends to have the slight slip up as well. So it's not a guarantee that he can take advantage of others mistake.. In GPF for example, after his SP and even LP I would never have guessed that he would medal. Who knows what will happen next week. My wish is for Shoma to medal and place himself as a top contender for Worlds and Olympics.

Yes, Junko is his mom. Great photo. My guess is that it will be blocked soon, but every now and then there's something that's not private. It makes me laugh because he looks so pensive, but No! He's probably just staring at his phone! :luv17: The profile photo is his brother.

Only 3 spaces on the podium, and SO many good skaters. It is really going to be a nail biter. Things don't look good on paper, but they probably didn't look good at GPF either. I still remember Jin coming out at Sk Amer and falling on all 3 of his jumping passes in the SP. Never could have seen that coming! Granted, that was early in the season, but ice is SO slippery. We may all need to buy our very own portable defibrillators! And this is just the start of it. Wait until Worlds. :drama:

ETA -- Just saw the upgrade to Jin's program. Oh dear! :palmf:

The only thing certain about 4CC is that we will see a tremendous amount of quad attempts by the podium contenders.
You won't hear any predictions from me because it is to difficult to foretell. Anything could happen.

It will be exciting to see how it all unfolds. GO Shoma! :cheer:

This is all I could find, Arriba. Nothing too concrete - just hearsay really.

What a beautiful shot! Thx for posting.

I'm a little out of the loop (no pun intended) - did Shoma/his team say sth. about including the 4L at 4CC/Worlds? I hope he won't - he's relatively stable without it as long as he's not the one, who's being chased, so I don't want him to risk it. He has loads of competitive fire working in his favour. And I don't see all of the other crazy kids land all of their stuff. Jin, Nathan and Yuzu might be a little "too hungry".

Imo, as long as Shoma can do (nearly) everything he aims for in his programs and delivers performances he can be proud of, it doesn't matter, if he lands on the podium or not - he has plenty of time. (Though at least a 4CC medal would certainly be very nice. :)) He is constantly working on his technical elements, so I don't think he'll stop improving any time soon.

He can definitely position himself as a top podium contender in time for Pyeongchang and that should be the main focus. Getting three spots for the Olympics should be doable for the male TJ members. I trust them.

Ganbatte Shoma, you can do it! :cheer2:

Maybe what you posted here about the costumes is what I saw. I remember reading something. Thx for refreshing my memory. I guess in a week my guessing will be over, and we'll see at 4CC. So maybe I didn't really need to mourn the death of the purple pants! (sigh of relief) And that shirt -- well, it's a work of art. I now see how it is supposed to be sprigs of lavender. I know a lot of people really don't like it, but I think it's beautiful!

If he likes to have a jump be 75% success rate before he puts it in a competition, I find it hard to believe he is ready with the 4Lo. I don't think I've heard anything official on it as of yet. I think he's improved a lot on the 4Lo now that he really knows how you're supposed to do it, but he still needs a lot of work on it. Would rather see him go relatively clean and (as you say) do a performance he is proud of...As for the 5-quad boys :hslap: (Jin and Nathan), those are pretty ambitious layouts when you're dealing with competition nerves. I'll be interested to see how Jin is progressing. It's been awhile now since we've seen him. And his body has changed a lot from last year, so I'll be interested to see what the jumps are looking like now. I have to re-watch his Cup of China videos. I know he had really improved from Skate America.

Believe in yourself Shoma! You can do it! :points: :party2:

Last night's news clip about Shoma in the Real Quadraple Era.

Shoma: I can't stop here. There are more that I can do. My quad loop is nearly in the level to include for competitions. I'm not such a (level of) skater who can compete with top skaters with being defensive. I want to keep competing by doing everything I can do.

@ Hamaguri,

I didn't know you were going to stop posting here as I'm not so diligent poster myself. I am really really glad that you have decided to be back. I hope you will enjoy your life in Czech. I honestly envy you that you have started figure skating :yay:

Now that I've thought about it some more, I feel better about Shoma's chances in 4CCs and Worlds. I think he is can do a SP and LP he is capable of, he should at least finish 4th at 4CCs and 5th or 6th at Worlds. Which would be an overall improvement - and a big confidence booster than he can compete cleanly with this much difficulty at the biggest events. And maybe that should be the big goal of this season.
