Looks like they have posted that Rika Hongo, Mura, and Shoma will be there.

Yikes I hope it is not true. Shoma has Asian Winter Games, 4CC and then Worlds. This competition is 3-10 through 3-12.
I question him doing another competition right before worlds.

Maybe he's trying to build more confidence and consistency with the quads? Or is he planning to add other quadruples at WC and all these competitions are like test to arrive at Helsinki with the "definitive layout" (like Tukt with the 3 Axel)?
Oh Shoma, I just hope you stay healthy! :hopelessness:

What is happening? Asian Winter Games and now Coup du Printemps????
Seriously though, coup du printemps is like half a month away from worlds, not to mention days lost on the air travelling. :curse:
I hope that something changes about this, and that Shoma did this himself (I don't want another case of JSF forcing their athletes to a insignificant competition) but will have second thoughts about it. Why would you go to a competition right before worlds? You have to stay healthy! :palmf:
And I definetely don't want another case of severe jetlag (like the GPF) :drama:

Jet lag??!! Japan to Luxembourg, then back to Japan, then 2-1/2 weeks later to Finland. Lucky he's young. He must have a lot of frequent flier miles!!!...Not quite sure what happened to Uncle Dai's advice of "Have the courage to rest." As always, I just keep trusting that his team has a plan.

The only way this make sense to me is that maybe Team Japan will be going to Europe early to train before Worlds (or maybe just Shoma and his team) and Shoma will
already be in Europe. The flight from Helsinki to Luxembourg takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

That's good. I never really cared for Shoma's EX's (Do you say it like this?) anyway. But maybe that's because I'm generally not that much into Galas. They bore me a bit.

The majority of the time, when I go to competitions, I don't go to the gala. I guess I like the pressure of the competition! They can be a bit boring, although the skaters' personalities get a little more of a chance to come through. Shoma's EX's are {{}}? I probably prefer La Vie en Rose over See You Again. And Coach Fluffy's step sequences -- well, what can you say?! :points: :cheer:

ETA -- I thought about Team Japan remaining in Luxembourg, but it's more than two weeks. Would be surprised if they do. It would be too good to be true!

:yahoo:  :hap10: :agree2: YES!!! While speaking with Chukyo U. officials, Shoma discussed the difficulty of jet lag and said his plan for Worlds is to go to Helsinki 10 days before the competition!

I hope he can find a nice rink around Helsinki to train if he's there that early. I imagine it's going to be crowded before Worlds.

Just out of curiosity, I looked online and saw that there are 7 indoor rinks in Helsinki. I would bet there are even more, although who knows what caliber they are. It was fun to see there are also TONS of outdoor rinks. Somehow I don't see him practicing quad jumps on an outdoor rink though :hslap: He doesn't have to worry about any of that though. I'm sure the management company he works with deals with all those logistics.

Did you all see this? It says Shoma is scheduled to compete at the Coupe de Printemps in Luxembourg from March 10-12. I guess he plans to use it as a warm up for Worlds?

Thanks Tavi. We did see it and were trying to figure out how all this would play out in terms of Worlds, since he has stated that his game plan for Worlds is to arrive 10 days in advance of the competition. He really seems to struggle with jet lag. He is also doing 4CC and Asian Winter Games. I'm tired just thinking about it! :drama:

That's a lot of competitions in a very short time - goodness! He will be doing 4 competitions in 2 months? I guess the ultra short turnaround between AWG and 4CC is similar to the turnaround between Lombardia/SLC (Jason) and TdeF/COC (Javi), so it's not unprecedented. But what will he do after Luxembourg - just stay in Europe, I would hope? In any case, Shoma is a warrior, so if anyone can pull off a tough schedule like this, I expect it will be him!

That is the burning question. Do they really go back to Japan for only a week and then go to Helsinki? I just wonder if they feel that last year he had too much of a lull between 4CC and Worlds, and is he better off having to keep his energy level high. He seems to thrive on hard work and staying busy...The next couple months are going to be exciting indeed for our favorites.

There's only a one hour time difference between Luxembourg and Helsinki. There's a seven hour time difference between Helsinki and Tokyo. Since he's strongly affected by jet lag, it doesn't make sense that he would return to Japan for a week instead of traveling directly to Helsinki, maybe taking a short break (or taking a break before going to Helsinki) , and then starting his normal training for Worlds. Of course he and his team may have other ideas! It will b an expensive trip either way.

Thanks everyone who give me a reply post or PM! I was really glad to read them. Sorry to be late. It may take some time to send back, but I just want to say all of your messages reached my heart. Many thanks and love to everyone.

I have so many thoughts, and can’t read them enough here, but I want to withdraw the decision to leave here since I love figure skating like Joshua says.

Personally I began skating for the first time here in Czech. I came to like to skate, and I’ve got the figure skating technique book for beginners from Japan (it is the book by Machiko-sensei which has very good reputation and one of model girls is young Kanako. So cute!). Some of you may know of it, but I moved to Czech from Japan last autumn. Living in a totally different circumstances, I have managed to live thanks to so many helps of local people. And I got figure skating, and found that it’s just really fun to be on the ice. I go to the rink almost every weekdays. On the ice, Im totally free. But at the same time, I really realized how much ice is hard and cold. It’s the fight with fears. I come to know that all the skaters went through the long way to show their performances today. It's like a miracle to see those performance!.

Further, they are young and just devote themselves to this sport, which they love. They are not concerned with the dirty side of this sport. The period when skaters are competing is short. I want to cherish the period with you.

Finally, I’m so sorry to post my personal thing here although it is Shoma thread! ( i searched for his news, but couldnt find!)
