I just popped to express that Yuzuru indeed looks cool, calm and collected, ready to do business as usual, happy to see him enjoying the experience.

And on a random note - yesterday after work I re-watched some Grammy 2017 performances and Bruno Mars did Prince tribute with 'Let's go crazy', guess about who I though immediately

I crashed pretty much right after Yuzu's group practice at the main rink was over (it was around 11p for me). I was too tired, trying to rush work and clear my Friday for Yuzu... the things we do for the boy! So it was the best feeling to wake up and back read and be bombarded with hi-def Yuzu video and photo galore! :luv17:

Haha, hope he has time to go around and try some food. His competition is still on Friday anyway. I wonder if he stay in the official hotel or not. Because it is 40 mins drive away. If I were him I would prefer to stay in hotel nearby the venue with my own money. it is a hassle to travel back and forth when you have 2 practices scheduled in a day.

I am sure he won't try it before the competition. He said it before that he he is careful about food (unlike Kanako ). Maybe after the competition on Sunday evening/Monday.

That's good! Many top athlete even travel everywhere with a dietician/nutritionist to ensure they eat all the right food, haha.
Besides, so many food poisoning stories I have encountered before competition, so...

Yes, yes And traditionally, you should eat the whole thing, which is what is cracking me up, knowing him. Though to be fair, it's a smallish chicken. Koreans have fab food so hopefully he has room to try a few things. Definitely after the competition though and at some recommended place.

I think he is there at the official one? But he always travels with a group of people (Kikuchi-san, Brian, a bodyguard, his mom, shirota-san) and I think ISU/OC only pay for the hotel for 1 athlete (usually shared with someone from the same fed) and 1 team leader, which means for the rest it is self-paid. So I wonder if when circumstances where the official hotel is inconveniently far from the venue, why not just stay elsewhere together somewhere nearer. I don't think it is not allowed? :think:

Maybe it's a matter of proper form? Of behavior I mean, as in, he might think if everyone else is there, he should be too, even if he could afford to switch. I do think it's allowed too.
And I am always more than happy to talk about food. I blame Yuzuru for starting me on it this time

According to Piper Gilles’s latest instagram story the venue seems to have an “athletes’ resting room” where they can take a nap. So the skaters might be resting in the venue between 2 practice sessions of the day. When Japan hosted World Championships 2014 in Saitama, there was similar accommodation in the venue because the official hotel was an hour away by bus from the venue.

There's definitely that. For Sochi Olympics Brian requested a bunch of things for Yuzu from JSF and one of those that got declined was his own room I believe? Yuzu also felt he should be everyone else is. That said, Yuzu can afford a lot more these days too.


The thing with samgyetang is... I can never finish the whole thing on my own. It's not just the chicken, it's also the glutinous rice it's stuffed with.

That's what I mean, plus yuna was Korea's only star in FS back in 2010, and Yuzu was young nobody amongst a really deep field in Japan. Kudos to Brian for trying. I think it was just get whatever they would give.

Yuzu's lack of interest in food in general is sad. Yes. But I guess better than him craving something and feel like he has to cut back. I do approve of his love for soft tofu and grape tomatoes though. Nods

2. He seems to really like the ice there
I'm looking forward to his performance, i want to see what he is going to deliver on Olympic ice i'm sure it's really stimulating for him and i can't wait to watch him skate again.

I have a little Hanyu shrine in my room. And it's Valentines Day, so i gave him chocolate
And my mani for 4cc is ready! Since it was on the same week as Valentines Day and i always do something according to the date, i put little purple hearts

Only in Japan you are a nobody even though you were already two times Japanese champion against a really deep field and GPF champion at that time :noshake:

He was Japan #1 skater going into Sochi. Maybe comparing to the others in whole of Japan contingent he is a 'nobody' but not comparing to the fs field in Japan. The only gold medal Japan won in Sochi was Yuzu's

I feel relieved and happy to see him like that too! It's reassuring to see that he likes the overall condition of everything, and that he feels really happy to be there
I trust that he will give us a performance he will feel proud about
