While a bit sad Yuzu didn't win, his reaction to his skate shows a different story. Now (imho), there is a target for yuzu heading in to world's... he always does better when he has a target and has to fight so this is a good thing.

and he didn't do his Biellmann... issues after all?

CBC did not show this live on tv... it was just online streaming, so there is no commentary. They may show this next weekend or whenever, currently it is not listed on the broadcast schedule.

I'm worried about the no Biellmann thing too...
I'm hopeful. He put up a hell of a fight, and i think he didn't do the best he can, probably saving it for World's.
Somehow i have this tiiiiiiiny suspicion that he didn't really care for winning this, but how, you might think, if he fought so hard at the end? Because of course he would do it, like "I don't care if i don't win, but that doesn't mean I'll let you win easily".
I'm sure he will unleash a beast at World's💖
 
And i agree. I think his second place doesn't really mean anything. Like he said once: "Score is score. My performance is my performance".
 
Quick scan of the protocol and who gave his 3A a 0 GOE?? Judge 4!! :angry1:

This, you are so right. I'm so happy to see this warrior who is evolving to a dragon slayer, just watch :agree:

And, look at his longevity, three years ago it was Yuzuru vs. Patrick era, last two years was Yuzuru vs. Javier, and now it's Yuzuru vs. Nathan. Seriously, who dares to question his legacy? He was there, he is there, and he is going to stay.

Why do I like these dramatic expressions so much? And, why I'm so happy? For me it's like he has won the competition.
 
I hope he keeps this fighting mentality that was unleashed here. The entire season has been a build, understandably, but that spirit has been missing with small glimpses here and there, like at NHK. As soon as he popped that 4S it was like a light bulb went off in his head and out came the tiger. I think this is a good set up for World's.

My favourite jump in the whole thing? that awesome 3A at the very end. I"ll watch that one for a long time:clap: that was akin to a Hail Mary in American football, lol!!

I am disturbed by the only 6 point difference in presentation, though. Yuzu had an error, true, but Nathan had multiple turn outs and little things... it was by no means a stellar program.

I honestly thought for a moment he was going to win. I saw so many little mistakes in Nathan's program (and by no means i am a technical expert like many of you here), i was honestly surprised at that score. As impressive as a 5quad program is, it felt really empty compared to H&L , which i have to say, as beautiful as it was today, and that spark towards the end, i feel like overall, Yuzuru seemed very distant this competition... (which is what led me to think that maybe he wasn't that interested in winning this but on treating it like a test event in many ways)
 
I noticed the 0 for his 3A too. In what world was that jump a zero? Craziness. It was huge, straight, great flow out of it... grrrrr.
 
It looks like Yuzu wanted to add the 4S-1-3S combo in place of his 3A3T after the pop but felt tired so he went with the safer option. :drama: Maybe someone can do a transcript of their K&C convo?

I don't want to be disrespectful but it's the nature of this sport or any other sport, one day you win the other day you loose. What's the big deal? Do these people believe that Federer should have gotten retired after loosing to Nadal some years ago? Neither Nathan was arrogant over his win nor Yuzuru depressed for the loss. I wish the fans were as mature as them.

Nor are Yuzuru fans upset about silver, at all. It seems we're all purdy elated here, no? :confused2:

My main problem has always just been that I don't understand how a nicely choreographed SP and a front-loaded jump-fest LP that does not (as adequately display skating skills/barely has choreo) could get the same/higher PCS. It would make a lot more sense to me if his LP were the same quality as his SP, but it truly isn't.

--> What's the point of intricacy and a complete program then...?

Congrats to Yuzuru on winning silver!! That FS was amazing and I was so impressed by how hard he fought back at the end. That being said I can't help but feel a bit frustrated that programs that are basically nothing but jumps are receiving such high PCS... Nathan's program was technically impressive but I feel like it was just jump-->skate to the other side of the rink-->jump. I like Yuzuru's programs better because they combine high technical content with beautiful artistry.

Nonetheless seeing Yuzuru's reaction in the K&C made me so happy! If he's happy with his skate then I am too :biggrin: I'm sure this will motivate him even more for World's! And maybe take some of the pressure off as well.
