I seriously doubt he is going to attempt a quad Axel before Olympics. As much as he wants it, i don't think he would risk that.
So, from that interview that sweetwater translated (thanks btw!!) i didn't understand. Is he going to consider a 5quad program or not :laugh:?

He's saying from stamina perspective, it's in sight. But based on the quads he's debuted so far, it's not possible yet. Being coy (he didn't mention anything about the 4Lz)

Maybe he means that now (this season) is not realistic but if it's in the sight, then possibly next season?
Just my thoughts...
 
Don't think he'll train a 4A right this moment because it might screw with his 3A and that's his emergency points++ jump :biggrin:

Wasn't it mentioned that his problems with 3Lz this season (GPF, and skipping it altogether at 4CC) was a clear indication he's been working on the 4Lz? I can't wait to see it. I know it'll be beautiful because I know he loves toe jumps and it won't hurt his injury.

ETA: Looking at this attempt again (https://www.facebook.com/TheSkating...=0&app_id=165907476854626&live_video_guests=0), I KNOW his 4Lz is going to be gorgeous. Just...look at the height and flow and how straight his back is in the air...wow.

A 5 quad program certainly sounds like it will happen. He will not do it in Helsinki, no way, but after that.... well, you can tell he wants to try it. He loves a challenge. Personally, I think he should try the 4Lz a few times in the spring in front of crowds. He needs to get it out there early if he wants it next season.

I will call the 4A the mother of all quests... the post 2018 quest.
 
Copyrighted... I tried on Youtube and it says it contains copyrighted material from fuji tv. What???? That's strange. Other broadcasters were there, weren't they? Or were all cameras fuji?

I can only say thank goodness it will be on tv this coming weekend so I can have my own copy... geez.

About this particular sentence, yes, I think it is clear that he was confident (and everything else) but I mention confident because of the BESP guys. There is no way that a skater with a lack of confidence can do what he did. His skate was going fine and then the one mistake that was the most likely, due to previous occurrences, happened. He didn't crumble but switched to trying to salvage the rest of the skate. This is just not possible for someone who lacks in confidence because he has to have faith in himself and in his skill in order to do what he did.

In general I didn't like the BESP commentary because it had a tone of Hanyu the 'has been' and I especially didn't like it because they know that he had been injured and how serious it was and how long it took him off ice and yet they not only don't mention it but apparently don't take it at all into consideration. Of course, they're not the only commentators and I particularly liked a different take, now gone from YT unfortunately.

It went something like this, paraphrasing - after noting that it was an unbelievable skate, the commentator found this way to express what he thought of that skate. When you learn a foreign language and you get to perfect it, you are then free with it. You can find synonyms, change constructions, you can freely create in this foreign language. This skate was like that by Hanyu, where all his practice paid off and he could change a program and perform that with great freedom in the technical, difficult elements.

I found this to be a lovely and correct way to present what Yuzuru and his skating are especially because I think that skating is truly another language that he uses to express himself.
Oh and he called him a genius on ice. No, not Max, it was RUS ESP.

Max had totally got the fact that Yuzu wanted to add a 4S at the end of that euler. I also love how he and Angelo are excited at the sight of Yuzu changing things around in his programme at the end. They just can't believe he even did that perfect 3A at the end. Gotta love these guys :D

OMG! Thanks for sharing! I had done that awkward thing of reading Japanese translations of their commentary but wasn't able to find the video. I was dying to see it just to get the tone of their voice :D
I noticed it also includes a cut of him after Nathan's program. Did Max and Angelo say more about Yuzu there?
