OMG. Okay. So much to say. Let's just say that like Meoima, I'm also a little mad at Yuzu for messing up his short, because after that I could barely calm myself down enough to watch his free skate so I drank a little too much tequila and passed out. I was conscious enough to see him pop his salchow again, and then the next thing I remember is him throwing in a triple axel after his ina bauer, and I was like "WHAT MUST HAVE HAPPENED FOR YUZU TO CHANGE HIS PROGRAM SO MUCH?!" and I started screaming in a drunken rage. The security of my building had to come over to check out what was wrong and I had to hide
I did see him celebrate in the K&C which will be forever imprinted in my mind :luv17: Of course, I started screaming again after Nathan's score because all I really saw where the stepouts and a WORSE program than his GPF one that didn't even break 200
So, yes, I'm a little mad at him because I don't think any of this would've happened if he hadn't popped his sal in the short, but I really shouldn't blame Yuzu for my poor life choices
But rewatching the program the next day -- omg, it was so good. Yes, it is my absolute favorite rendition of Hope and Legacy. Maybe because he looked so intense and intense Yuzu = sexy sexy sexy. But also because he looked like he was fighting rather than "just" performing, and he looked like he cared. I feel like I haven't seen him like that yet this season? Yes, I agree that he didn't emote as much and was maybe too concentrated (seriously, having to recalculate your layout on the fly, what in the world?! haha). But I ain't even complaining because mayyyyyybe the original version was too soft and lyrical throughout for me. I think this time it was the right amount of intensity
Maybe he should choose programs where his natural serial killer glare completely FITS in with the music and he doesn't need to remember to EMOTE separately hahaha.
On a separate note, I did watch the B.Esp version after seeing the comments about that here. I didn't think they were too bad. They mentioned that Yuzu was so dominant technically a couple years back and they're right, he was, and he isn't anymore. They also said he doesn't seem as confident. I do agree with them on this. I don't think they love him any less. They're not always completely complimentary, especially since I'm sure they need to save some positive things to say about the newcomers, too. They do work for a network channel after all. I remember B.Esp loved Yuna but they weren't so complimentary to her at 2011 Worlds, either. But that doesn't mean they loved her less.
Anyway, I'm so proud of Yuzu. That YOLO quad toe was beautiful. Those triple axels were beautiful. And thinking on his feet after the popped salchow, WOW :luv17: And so proud that he can look at this as his happiest silver medal. I think having someone to "chase" (right, like Yuzu is "chasing" Nathan, but in terms of # of quads I suppose) is good for him. And I think he'll like it, too. Hopefully he has a game plan for that quad sal because he knows it's a problem (duh). Whether that's training it more, changing the combination, or training another quad, or what, I don't know, but I trust him and Brian. They know more about Yuzuru's condition than we do.
To think that if he had added the 3S to the end of the 2S-1Lo combination he would've won. But I love love love him for thinking about the 4S instead :luv17: So yes, I do consider it a huge victory that he won the FS without a 3-jump combo and with a 2S-1Lo combo with negative GOE
Plus, I don't blame Yuzuru for thinking that he had probably done enough
