I wonder if it's because once Patrick was out of the race for podium, Yuzuru was the only one left that was more similar to the kind of skating Patrick brings, at least comparatively to Nathan, hence the change of sides from the Canadian from SP to FS. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.

Lol nope. It is because they want that team event gold. And honestly CAN has the biggest chance, compared to RUS and USA, with ice dance and pairs being outstanding and good ladies and of course there is Patrick.

So let's see : CAN : P : A+ ID : A+ Men : A+/A Ladies : A
RUS : P: A ID: A-/B+ Men: B+ Ladies : A+
US : P : B ID: A to A+ Men : A+ Ladies: A

Japan couldn't care less about team event. And their chances are close to zero to even medal I think (but ice is slippery maybe if others bombed they have a chance). Nathan's rise is not good for CAN's team event chances because more points to US and less points for them. I can see backdoor dealing would happen between teams who want individual medals more vs team event. Like China who has outstanding pairs, Japan with outsanding singles, and France with outstanding ice dance. I would imagine CAN, USA, RUS would try to get them on their side. ;)

Can't believe my eyes J2 gave a higher over all score to Nathan … you did this to promote the sport or to kill it? talking about money, it's hanyu who is actually earning half of the revenue for ISU. who is trying to deliver beauty of this sport without proper reward. aso disgusting

Welcome to all the new posters, post long & often and have fun here :yay:

I would like to see some peoples faces reading that  You know, with all that 'he has horrible posture' and so on~

But really, some of you don't like the lila chicken? Shame on you! :shame: Don't you know the Chicken look is basically a required stage in a Japanese male skaters career? And look at some other examples - daddy Mura or Dice. Be glad Yuzu pulled it off like that :p

Although I will forever be a defender of chicken Mura. Forever.

Lol i wish i could record her or something. My teacher has been dancing ballet, tap, jazz and bellydance for more than 30 years, she knows what she's talking about. She did praise his posture and after telling her that i read he hadn't taken ballet lessons, she told me that she kinda got why he didn't like it, "Ballet makes you stiffer, and he looks better flowing like that. Still, he's a natural and it's beautiful. The amount of control he has over his body is impressive"

Lol thanks, but I hope this is not sarcasm
Will be interesting to see how the judging is going to be like the next season. I would assume CAN is being more realistic now about Chiddy and would want that gold for V/M and D/R instead if that means they have to prep up other skaters. While RUS couldn't care less for their men so it will be interesting to see which side they will be on. There is just so much permutation and possibility, will be a sight to behold. ;)

Also lol@Yatagarasu's avatar! It seems like that was the moment Brian suggested that Pooh shouldn't watch the SP... (kidding hahaha)
I think i love that Yuzu

Does this count? LOL I think that's in practice.

Apparently there wasn't any videos from our korean fancam overlord Aaron though. Maybe he didn't go to. :dbana:

He went, I think he met up with Geumna. Not sure about the lack of fancams :< But there were an abundance, so maybe he didn't feel necessary T_T

Absolutely not, I agree with every word there :agree2: (though I think maybe Chiddy can also get a boost, depends if he can go clean or not)
You also just brought up another, quite important point which is bugging me and that is what will the Russians do? They don't have the men but they sure have other contenders. So where do they group? I really can't tell, it could go either way. It will be a sight to behold all right. A part of me is actually tickled about this, I want to see how it all falls out.

Haha, are the scores not getting better yet for some of you too? Good to know I'm not the only one
My personal fave is the American judge giving Nathan a 9.5 in Composition compared to Yuzus 9 - a program that is so extremely front-loaded the pre-IJS quadsters would be ashamed. It's like 'What is the least well defined category? Oh CO! So, let's throw the real weird scores out there'.
Seriously, the fact that some people are defending these scores gives me some major :palmf:

I really like your teacher
Well at the end, it's not as if the most educated and neutrals persons comment would mean anything to people who don't want to see it. But thank you very much for sharing her comments with us

Haha glad that it was not sarcastic. Yes, at the end of the day these skaters still need to skate clean or perform well. So let's just hope they will. We have seen cases where skaters are prepped and supported but crash and burn at the olympics and no amount of politics can save them (*cough Kwan *cough).

Same here lol. There are too many scenarios that could happen. Thing is, for RUS to hope for ID or Men's medal is ridiculous by now, but they have pretty good chance in pairs. Tarasova/Morozov or Fedor/Klimov could medal or even win when clean. So they logically would take US side. However, with the President of USFSA (i think?) being so harsh to the point of saying Russia should be banned from Olympics, I'd say they might want to be friendly with CAN instead and just mutually help each other. Support Osmond and Chan to Medal plus help V/M and D/R to win and in return they would be supported in pairs (2nd or 3rd) and 1st in ladies by the CAN. I'd say JPN would not hope for gold in ladies but they sure want a medal there, silver or bronze, and hoping for gold in men. And technically they can support Osmond and Chan to medal too + D/R, T/M, S/K in pairs and V/M, B/S in ID without disadvantaging them. So these 3 could be a possible block too.

Of course, there is need for them to be clean, without a doubt. Fingers crossed and the way the current mood is shifting I am honestly starting to dig my heels in about the 'veterans', Yuzuru, the awkward middle child, among them. So I'm hoping they do because yes, the hype alone can be massive additional pressure and hindrance.

Yeah, I've been running those too. He did indeed call for an overall Russia ban but since then has retracted that one. Politics being smelly that alone may not be a hindrance then unless he switches sides again. I think the trifecta of JPN/CAN/RUS would be an interesting thing, and in a much stronger position, if they can somehow hash it out but then again, it might be easier to do that with the USA. In any case if I were Canada, I'd already be talking to Japan because these two can definitely work it out. It'll be interesting to peek at final protocols for all disciplines at WC. Ah Olympics :palmf:

Thank your teacher for us! I was wondering why some skaters with beautiful ballet arms were so stiff. Ballet is great on the ground, but on ice I prefer Yuzu ( and Yuna's style). Figure skating seems to have an extra dimension because of how skaters move across versus standing firmly on the ground, so taking advantage that with body extension vs beautiful stiff ballet posture adds an extra layer to the program.

Yuna's influences really show in Yuzu's flowy style and seamlessly integrated jumps. Jun Hwan also has a flowy style. This is why I love their skating, so thank you Yuna.

I admit i have a soft spot for Jun Hwan too
Hahaha i was furiously typing on my phone after she told me that, so probably she knows i already told everyone who i know who cares about Yuzuru what she said  I'll thank her on the next class!

Speaking of Skating Skills, and going slightly back in time, I was trying to find a particular video of a Chopin 1.0 performance that I remember watching a while ago, where the commentators were gushing over Yuzuru's skating skills and how they were like an ice dancer's. I don't remember if the commentators were speaking English or if it was a subtitled video, but I do remember those words in particular, I think. Anyone know which video I'm talking about?

Maybe CoC 2014? The Event that shall not be mentioned. They don't do an ice dance comparison though, so maybe not exactly what you're looking for. curiously the same commentator that people were crucifying for the 4CC broadcast, Mark Hanretty lol Try looking for polish subtitled videos, they tend to gush a lot it, so maybe it's them.

WAIT I think i found it, it's probably Trankov (?)'s don't remember his voice well commentary on Worlds 2015.
