Which event?
OMG I just checked. He is using it as a tune up to test out whatever layout he plans to do in Helsinki. I guess it's a lot riding on this when you went from ONE quad last season to trying FOUR this season.I just ask that he not be a bumbling mess when I get to see him, but I guess he's doing this competition in hopes of granting me my wish. He also adjusts to jet lag better by being in there earlier I guess,

He's doing 5 quads in a free skate?
to 4everchan.
I will echo what demarinis said in this thread before: "I like who I like."
Competitive careers are not long in this sport (unless his/her name is a 'Plushenko'), so let's cheer hard for our own favorites and enjoy every bit of their skating while we can. No time should be wasted with being bothered by whatever naysayers would say.
And please accept my belated (sorry!) but warmest 'Welcome!' to our Shoma-Fest thread, will you please! ^^)/
that was sweet and very true..
Two questions for any of our Japanese friends who might know...Thanks.
--Would Shoma most likely fly between Sapporo & Nagoya?
--Is the Japanese national anthem an easy one to sing? (I know, weird question, just wondering)
Today's newspaper.
Shoma and Mihoko-sensei are thinking to try 4S in the next competition, Coupe du Printemps.

I'm trying to determine if he plans to substitute a toe for a sal, or ADD a sal to try for 5.

OK, OK :dumb:. I'm now trying to convince myself that Shoma is going to use the competition as his run-through practice before the Worlds.
Please don't break your neck, kid.

Better at CDP than at Worlds, is all I'm saying.
But Shoma, sweetie, my smol bean, don't turn into one of those guys who throw in inconsistent jumps just because! I know the BV game is being played after Nathan threw in 5 quads at Nationals and opened the challenge, and I know your ambition doesn't allow you to stay behind, but experimenting with two inconsistent jumps (4Lo, 4S) plus 4F plus 4-5 quads... it makes me want to cry. In one season... throwing in three new quads... (4F counts too, even if he landed it last season at WTT!)
I guess his musical choice for his FS was particularly fitting. Loco it is. :hopelessness:
I don't even like alcohol but between Shoma, Yuzu and Boyang, I'm going to be developing a whole new appreciation for spirited drinks.
I will have a few bottles of soju for worlds i think -_-

God bless Shoma![]()

I appreciate him acting so close and real to the music he portrays in FS, but seriously...:hopelessness:
I just hope he and his team have correct, reasonable approach towards all this quad madness. I consider it as really not necessary for Shoma in such level. Wish he will treat CdP as an exercise field to try out as many options he can, regardless of results, but still being in competition to feel out the atmosphere. He just have to watch out fatigue and stamina level to prevent running himself short of strength...
What scares me now the most is this competitive poise in these young men, breaching into obsession of some sorts. It is a good thing to follow the competitive tendencies if you have a skill, talent and health conditions to do so, but sometimes I feel it should be toned down to avoid physical and mental injuries. I'd hate to see Shoma being exhausted, disappointed or injured at the end of this season due to this quad quest. He should not limit himself as a competitor only to numbers of quads performed - yes, I understand that he has to follow the tendency if he wants to stay in contention, but I what I can't understand is the speed and scale of that.
