Russian esp can get quite hilarious as well when commentators argue with each other

For me, it's a major cause of embarrassment to see the way people on TV behave! Do I behave the same way, that's the major concern.
RUS ESP commentaries were actually really hard to discern and to translate.

she can be horribly biased and she's sometimes just impossible. I wish most of the time she would retire and we could get more level-headed commentating - it's not as if we lack good ex-skaters or coaches or experts who are capable of doing that.
I'd love a neutral and considerate way of commentating, really. British uncles can mess up very badly too - but the fact they're benevolent and forgiving towards anyone is so refreshing after the verbal warfare of our commentating. I for one am rather tired of the endless drama, sorry!

I know what you mean. Probably it would be too much to me as well if I had to listen to her all the time.
Sometimes her screaming freaks me out lol and I usually rewatch only a couple of programs with her commentating. :)

All the more thanks for your work translating them. They're my favorite commentators right now, up there with Max and co at ESP ITA. So insightful.

I am laughing very hard when tat praises Yuzu's spins she has to mention Yags spins too because OF COURSE and then keeps saying Yags had leg over the head spin which was great, I am like... I was huge Yags uber but can't remember such thing and honestly his spins .....:)))

Omg same! I like Yags much more than plushy (sorry Yuzu), but even I have to admit that when it comes to spin (and jumps) plush is arguably better. But TAT loves Yagudin so much. So, well, I think I will live with her gushing about him on everything, every single time. (I actually find it hilarious though) I think she mentioned Yagudin too during Yuzuru's WR in GPF? She just had to mention him, didn't she?

Also a bunch of them don't really do their quads out of step now... or their steps are far before the actual jump. And they don't really get docked for that. So that rule almost seems irrelevant.

Rules can be irrelevant, just like how some UR or wrong edge are not called. But I expect paid commentators to know better to be honest ;) And steps out of jump were already in place even before IJS/CoP so... :slink:

Remember WC 2015 when Rus esp insisted Yuzuru is composing music himself on his free time  So its not like only TAT has some memory errors

Well, since I haven't watched all Yags programs, I can't just refute it, but remembering Yags, I have my doubts whether he was that flexible at his prime...

Russian commentators have this NEED to make up things - without that, commentating would be just boring.
The nadir of RUS ESP was CoC 2014, though - when they didn't cotton on to the fact Yan Han and Yuzuru had had a collision. Right until the very end - Yuzuru warming up with a huge bandage didn't make them think twice.

Well every public speech of Tat ends with words " Lesha mojet vsio " " Lesha can do everything " ( Lesha =Alexei)

and this is while I'm squirming with embarrassment because people might, you know, understand what she's saying...

I find her being Alyosha this, Alyosha that, to be hilarious though. Is there any student she love more than Yagudin?

I think she loved Moiseeva &Meninkov a lot , maybe almost like Yags because they were first for her but no one knows why she left them herself, She has love/hate relationship for Grishuk and Bestimianova  I remember one documentary where she was saying: "you know I noticed her but geez, she was so ugly for ice dancing "
But imo Yags is still undisputed N 1

This thread has been moving insanely but thanks everyone for all the translations! I love watching all his performances with different commentators and the Google sheet seems to have grown really nicely :) I wonder if we should also collect English language videos too just for reference and bookkeeping. Particularly CBC and BESP...

I'd say we could very well add English language video links into our google doc table, couldn't we? Just to serve as a general reference point - along with our page one?

Yeah, let's do that. Google sheet is growing really nicely indeed. I keep waking up to 2-3 of Fayruza's to add  Since the spreadsheet's main purpose is to highlight and bring attention to non-english commentaries, and just so it looks more organized, how about appending English ones to the end of each competition and/or graying the text?

I know... :bang::shame::angry1: Was it here, or was it somewhere else? Wasn't it someone's idea to make a banner out of that rule and bring it to Helsinki XD I'm 100% for that. I expect both judges AND paid commentators to know better than they sometimes seem to indicate.

Composing music for his programs or composing music as a musician? If the latter, that is quite funny :laugh2:

looks like a nice plan to me!
And I'll run dry soon. :( Then I start tackling things like Boston FS, Sochi FS and CoC FS.
OK, is there any other preference people have before I start looking for myself for stuff to translate?

*heartbreak*
I'm quite interested in 2011-2012 before Worlds. He did win CoR.
How about 2012-2013? There's zero on that because it's not a "noteworthy" year, I guess. But it was his first NHK win. BESP commentary on the competition programs + EX were interesting.

I've got some quite interesting ESP commentaries of 2012-2023. I can do them next if you like.

Hehe. I do remember Yags being able to almost rest his head on his skate when he did his sit spin... or was it another spin? I"m not dreaming it, but it was nowhere near what Yuzu can do... he was my favourite over Plush too... gotta love TAT, even if you hate what she says many times. Her passion and enthusiasm are quite overwhelming!!
