The worlds haven't happened yet - no need to mourn something's not going to be ever skated again.
Or else, I'll start mourning Chopin+Seimei+Requiem. :)
Or otherwise, I can look into the future and get very gloomy that there could be just a handful of competitions Yuzu's going to take part in... :(

I already cried over that </3
But even if he skates any of those again, what are the chances of me actually being able to see it </3

yes please yes please

all the hearts!

Okay then :party2:

Beware, it's gonna be LONG. VEEEEEERY long (God THEY REALLY SPEAK A LOT ! :drama:). But fun. At least I hope... anyway

So here is my take on the translation of french TV commentary of Yuzu's SP at Sotchi.
You can watch it on two links :
short version : http://www.francetvsport.fr/le-record-de-hanyu-206493
long version (the one I used) : https://tinyurl.com/z3xtba8

Please note that there was already a post with a translation, by Yuzusan. I took it as a reference but I completed it, corrected some mistakes, probably added some, added some storytelling because it's good fun, and changed some (many) sentences in a way that I felt sounded better.:-)

***
The commentators are, as always on french national TV (France Televison), the three musketeers of figure skating comment, those whose lyrical enthusiasm can only compete with their tendency to talk ALL F...G THE TIME, the very unique Nelson Montfort (NM), Annick Dumont (AD) and Philippe Candeloro (PD). For those who don't know him, Candeloro is a former french skater from back in the days when figure skating was popular in France. He's pretty famous here.

But first, in order to understand the translation, you must know that, while the competition was broadcast live on France 2, they chose to have the commercial break just when Yuzuru was skating... the legendary french sense of timing strikes back :)
The live broadcast was back just for the scores announcement – which they commented live – and they broadcast Yuzuru's program just after. Sadly, they already knew the scores so there was less spontaneity than usual. But don't be afraid, they're as always SUPER enthusiastic and plenty of "Ohlalas" are to be heard

***
(in the beginning of the video, the host is speaking about Brian Joubert and Florent Amodio, and then about Plushenko's withdrawal and Jeremy Abbott's fall)

0:40 (Laurent, the host) This is going to be quite an evening, don't you agree, Nelson ?

NM : Yes, I concur, Laurent. Now we're on the kiss and cry with the japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu, who's just... Annick, please describe us...

AD : he's just (she's more or less speachless :) )... we're waiting for the scores-OH LA LA !!!

AD & NM : IT'S THE WORLD RECORD !!!!! THE WORLD RECORD !!!!

PD : it's a masterpiece.

NM : YUZURU HANYU HAS JUST... IT'S INCREDIBLE !!!

AD : IT'S THE FIRST TIME A SCORE IS OVER 100 !!!

PD : … on a short program.

AD&NM : yes, on a short program.

AD : It's incredible ! He did a quadruple-triple combination... I swear, he skated faster when he landed the triple than when he entered the quad. He manages to GAIN speed during the jumps.

PD : He's trained by Brian Orser, who can't be on the kiss and cry right now because the skater who's going next is Javier Fernandez, who's also trained by Orser. I can tell you that Yuzuru Hanyu has set the bar really high in this second to last group. It's going to be quite a challenge...

(back to the host, speaking again about Brian Joubert (these olympics were his last competition) and telling that Yuzuru Hyanu (sic) 's program is coming next. He also mentions that Brian Joubert and Florent Amodio think that Yuzuru is the most likely to win the competition, or is their favourite skater in this competition, it's not clear. The formulation is ambiguous but in any case it's very nice to hear:) )

2:10 (host) Now we're going to watch this absolutely magnificient program.

NM : Yuzuru Hanyu is on the ice, representing the Empire of the Rising Sun. Yuzuru Hanyu, who is a skater on the rise, a dainty and delicatee skater, who is both a tremendous technician and an absolutely wonderful artist. And here it begins for the cheerful Japanese, with his oh-so-endearing personality.

PC: You're scaring me, Nelson. You're saying he is in on the rise, but he is already at the maximum, and even beyond everybody else.

NM: Yeah, in any case we are now watching his program.

PC: This skater may do a quintuple jump one day, because it looks like he could do it (whaaaat Philippe FFS have some chill !!! :eeking:).

NM: Gary Moore, the Parisian Walkways, what a marvelous theme – which you know well (I guess he's talking to PC).

PC: It is a very good musical choice… the rythm of this program is perfect for the first part of an event with such high stakes as the Olympics Games.
Look at this, right now, the quad toe loop.

AD: Ohlala what amazing skating skills !...

PC: He's quite happy that the jump is clean, and he's celebrating.
And here, he earns also many, many points with his spins. With his flexibility... He's a skater who can bend and twist himself in all directions while keeping a perfect edge… But it's true ! It's not easy at all ! When we have a stronger musculature, it is harder to do this … Brian (Joubert) would agree with me on this. This kind of detail makes all the difference (for the win) …
(1:45) and now normally, he's got an innovative preparation for the triple axel, he's the only one to do it… Here, without any preparation.

NM: A little dance step, and then... triple axel !

PC: Exactly, and it earns many points regarding a percentage that Annick will perhaps be able to explain.

AD: It gives points on what we call “Transitions”. Each time you do a jump’s preparation that is not classic … (we gain points).

PC: And here (2:19) he does it again with the triple lutz, triple toe loop, a perfect combination…

AD: … (going on with her explanations) and so he earns points on what we call “Components” (PCS). A few years back, we called that “the second mark”, and we're going to keep on calling it like this because it's basically the same thing, and it's much easier to understand this way…

At 2:33 Nelson Montfort specifies something for French people. Because AD has pronounced “Components” in English, while in French, we translate “components” by “composantes” (different pronunciation). But she used the English word so it can disturb French who don’t know English.

(2:40) AD: Yeah and “Components” regroup five criteria of the second mark which are transitions, the choreography, the interpretation, the skating skills (the speed, the lightness of the skating) and the performance/execution. This system tries to make more credible what we (in France) would call “creativity”.

NM: So, Philippe are you ready for the test? (after this skating lesson by Annick Dumont :) ).

AD: I’m ready (laughing)

PC: He really skated very well this program, it was a very good choice of music and his order of passage has certainly made him more confident, and disconcerted Patrick Chan, who has not been perfect but still stayed focused.

NM: So, we've just witnessed the program which is, at the moment, the best short program in all skating History, at least since the new ISU judging system has been adopted, ten years ago. Because Yuzuru Hanyu scored more than 100 points.

AD : He's had 101.45 points. He's just beaten his own record btw, since he was already the current world record holder. But he hadn't reached the 100 points bar yet, he « only » had 98-99 points.

PC : Yeah, we could say he had kept a little margin for himself. (laughing)

(then they speak about other skaters)

THE END
***

(I'm a bit sad, I remembered some really great (french) comments about this video, but apparently they're not there anymore. They were in awe of Yuzu and quite lyrical about him, but mad at PC, AD and NM because they talked so much that people couldn't even hear the music during the program :drama: )

wow guys, this threads moves so fast as if its on adrenaline or something :eeking: thanks everyone for your contributions, whether its translation, news, videos, pictures etc! :thank: and belated welcome to our newest members!!! :hap10:

and main reason of my post, with all the Shin Amano talk, i had a dream where Yuzuru had 0 TES beckause of tech calls :slink::laugh: i dont usually remember my dreams but i couldnt forget this one

I think with Worlds fast approaching our hopes (as well as fears) for Yuzuru are ratcheting up so it's good we have this place to support and reassure each other. :) IIRC Farnaz earlier posted about her dream about Yuzuru (which was more like a nightmare from a fan's standpoint) and later explaining she posted not because she wanted to introduce negativity but because she felt she can share here where fellow Yuzuru fans can understand her. In my country, it is believed that when you share a bad dream rather than keep it to yourself, the opposite will happen. So my feeling that Yuzuru will do splendidly at Worlds is getting reinforced.

Also echoing thanks to the tireless and talented translators and artists and those who shared insights and updates in this thread. I love seeing new Yuzuru avatars (congratulations to the owners) and am cheering on those who are enthusiastically posting to get theirs.

Ooohh that's a fun read :D They really talk a lot, heh. Thanks, Altie. I updated the spreadsheet with both translations and video links, feel free to correct if I made a mistake.

ETA: Just read it again in sync with the video XD They're so animated and theatrical with their words. Quints :palmf:

If we're talking about dreams I had a random one about Yuzuru last night

I was at a metro station, and I was walking with a friend. Other than that, it was empty. I saw a familiar figure walking by, and of course, I recognized it to be Yuzuru!
I was so, so excited. And I asked him for a selfie. I looked gross probably, but that is less important than getting a selfie with Yuzu.
In fact I was so happy, that I subconsciously started to question the reality of the situation. Even in my dream, I realized it was impossible for this to ever happen and then I woke up because I realized it was a dream.

The end.

So let's get down to buying tickets for the competitive skates then! They can be far more exciting. Rollercoaster of emotions!
:)
Yeah but what are the chances that he will skate any of his previous programs there </3 ugh no no, let's talk about happy stuff...
Also, any of you guys are interested in the video of 2015 Kouhaku? I have a copy and i could cut it so it's only the Yuzu parts there :D (or if anyone wants to watch it full haha, pm and i'll give you the link :D)

So... at SA 1012, RUS ESP didn't have any commentators - probably, saved some money then. The same with NHK 2012 gala.
There's Sport SA 2012, but I'm not sure I can face translating commentary of Yuzu bombing. Call me feeble.. :)

You know, I'd love to see him skate all his programs in one go, but... that's highly unlikely, what do you think?
We can see him skate and evolve as a skater - and that's a privilege...

I have translated Worlds 2016 Ex, so probably we could remove that from the request sheet then? :)

Haha yes, quints :eekn:

I must admit that the first time I watched that video, I wondered what was this "quintuple" Philippe was talking about... At first I thought it was "winning 5 competitions in a row", because it seemed much more doable than making a f...g quintuple jump !

Other-Topic : I just looked on google image what the usual covers of an.an magazine look like and... :eeking: I'm pretty sure they asked Yuzu if they could do a sexy shirtless photoshoot and he answered... nope !
