I think it would be smart to keep LGC for the Olympics. Especially if he wants to have a five quads free program, it would be better if he does not have to worry about the short as well, and it is a very strong program.

(during the warm up)… now they’re showing us Yuzuru (Yuzuri!) Hanyu, Olympic Champion, current World Champion, playing an unusual part for him – he’ll be the one opening the SP because of the way his athletic fate has been shaping up this season. He hasn’t been successful in everything so far. He only just made it to the GPF at his last home Grand Prix event and his result is the sixth here. Everyone wonders what’s going on with this athlete, the Olympic Champion, current World Champion – whether it’s the natural post-Olympic reaction after the gruelling and exhausting season in which he won everything in sight and was best all around, or if he cant recover from the injury he received in the collision with a Chinese skater at CoC. But I'll remind you he still competed in both CoC FS and the final GP event in Japan.

The SP competition will be opened by Olympic Champion and current World Champion Yuzuru Hanyu. What we will see now will give us some understanding what’s going on with this outstanding skater. His coach Brian Orser has sent him off. This skater from Japan is just 20, but he has achieved such brilliant results in his career. By the way, he’s a world record holder in the SP score - more than 101 points, his PB is 101.45. The only skater to get over that barrier of 100 in the SP.

This is certainly the best SP this season. If it hadn’t been for that fall on the 3Lz3T combination… though it was visible there when he was entering his second jump with such a lean that he was likely to fall. But anyway, how much is he going to lose there? He’ll lose something like 2 points. He was faultless in the rest of the program. Everything is level 4, all the spins are level 4, the step sequence is level 4. Every element apart from the combination received very good GOE. The art and mastery of this skater is so great than even a fall isn’t an obstacle to his getting over 90 points for his SP. I’ve a feeling that after all the troubles of this season the Olympic champion… you see here him enter the second jump in the combination there? And a fall follows.
I can see his PCS now – well, he’s received more in his career, but these are quite impressive as well. The highest mark for choreography is 8.86, and the others are also just under 9. Well, he’s letting his competitors know that he’s come to win here. His SB at the GP event was 82.95, now his score will be in a different league. You can see it perfectly – he’s lost around 3 points in that fall, but the result is very impressive nonetheless. He can’t believe it himself – 94.08.

I don't want him to keep LGC, because I love to see new programs from him, but I would understand if he did.

I doubt we'll see LGC again next year. He's already got the presentation for it almost perfected, hitting almost every note even when it's not clean, so if the jumps are clean you know he'll sell the heck out of it. There will be no reason to show it again. I understand the rationale for keeping it, but I doubt it will happen.... PW and Chopin both needed another year to really develop, LGC does not need another year. It's cooked already!

Yeah, can I vote for a bit of SP versatility as well? I understand the need for something Yuzu feels comfortable with, but having two SPs repeated is probably enough, I'd say.

Same. I'd go with whatever he decides to do. If he keeps it, it'll be for a good reason. If not, great I get more programs *hoards*.
If anything, I like that he has the security of knowing he can fall back on LGC and it'd be an awesome choice for Olympics.

Well as much as I like LGC I would love to see a different SP , I love to see more different Yuzuru and how he wants to interpret the music he is choosing , it's always fascinating to see the direction he make with his choices each time [emoji4]
But at the same time LGC is safe so just wait what he will decide , will be happy no matter what [emoji847]

I love LGC but I want more Yuzu and Jeff collaborations! Out of all the choreographers Yuzu has worked with I think Jeff is the one that has really pulled out the best out of Yuzu's abilities. I would personally put in a vote for Jeff to also collaborate with Shae-Lynn on a FS, I would love to see how that would turn out.

Just seemed like more emotions and she could take her time with the moves since it wasn't about the jumps. I also really liked this costume. Simple but really nice. (Oh and she has a great Ina Bauer too )

If anyone remembers the David Foster Wallace essay on Federer (here) well I've always wondered how he would've described Yuzuru Hanyu, sigh. We've gotten dribs and drabs of memorable quotes from commentators and journalists but that essay was a work of art.

Not only you think that. I mean I have never seen any good juliet. The aura does not match. Maybe Yulia but she had a horrible season when she used that music. What a pity cause I really wanted to see her skating to that program well.

I think the tragedy theme is too much for junior skaters though. To me, Yuzuru's Romeo 1.0 is immortal. No one can do something like that ever again.

I am not against Yuzuru go for Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet though. I love Prokofiev.

About the video, I know for some this seems all fun and games but someone needs to have a serious talk with this skater. I don't think this is okay and never will. It saddens that this could keep going on, he needs to be punished to serve as an example. It's even hard for me to mention what he did since it breaks my heart that this happened but I'll try it. The fact that he skated to LGC in black pants and plain white shirt. There, I said it. i'm afraid this will haunt me for a long time.
I will continuously observe rhinestoned vests, illusion mesh and velvet purple pants in order to recover from this shock. It will be a long process but I'm willing to go through it. k

Is it a competition? I don't think it is. I doubt anyone would copy a program to this extent (especially if the program is so well-known and skated by THE YUZURU HANYU) for competition purposes. Probably just some fun and stuff, like a performance in a casual setting from some skating rink and/or skating school, which I think is fine.

That's an amazing idea.

I wonder whether Jeff's amazing compatibility and genius as far as Yuzuru is concerned doesn't actually come from the fact that he only choreographs SPs for him, and therefore doesn't have to worry about things such as stamina and pulling off 13 jumps. He can put in those transitions and details and have Yuzuru do them (well, except the original version of Ballade, which turned out too difficult even for Yuzu and 2 quads). I wonder if they'd be able to achieve the same effect in LP. For example, Yuzuru's step sequences in SP have always been more interesting than in LP, where the step sequence is a resting period. The only genuinely good, not run-of-the-mill LP step sequence is Seimei (sorry Shae-Lynn). Seeing that She-Lynn is no chopoed liver of a choreographer, I wonder if Jeff would do any better.

I certainly wouldn't mind the attempt though. But then again, if WE have thought about it, then surely Brian and Yuzuru must have as well? There must be a reason why Jeff has done 3 SPs but not a one LP? Quick, somebody push this question forward for the next interview with Yuzu!

We've already mentioned it, but how about Notte Stellata as a competitive program? Do you think it'd work better shortened as SP (Yuzu could try twizzles-3A-twizzles!) or stretched/padded with another piece as LP? (Hydroblade and Ina Bauer!)
