Just how many skating magazines are there?

I don’t know… they say that in 2015 there were over 20 periodical magazines and many other sporadically released figure skating related books and magazines. It really is crazy.:dbana: You have to find your priority and limit to avoid bankruptcy...

I notice that this topic comes up every month on my twitter and weibo feeds, which consist mostly of Yuzu fans :laugh2:
So they'll decide to buy something, and then another magazine announcement would come out saying XXX number of Yuzu pages! Yuzu cover! Everyone dies a little. Hehe.

^^ pinterest search for yuzuru hanyu covers............

https://www.instagram.com/p/7x5ASbjQTg/ <-- 55 Yuzu covers from 201501-201510

Quite a lot. But I think there's been even more ever since Yuzuru came on the scene. Ice Jewels and Fan Tsushin has been quite exclusively Yuzu-focused. But I could be mistaken.

There's a JUMP cover with Yuzuru on it :eeking: ???? Now that makes me curious !

@Yatagarasu : I've just installed Bandicam :). I'll try it on the Pair SP on wednesday evening !

Ahahaha indeed! I just stare at the covers wondering if it's worth it considering the shipping cost... Yuzu's pretty figure makes it really hard to restrain myself from buying them haha

Yuzuru has strong core values and beliefs that he is true to. That accounts for his consistency. Furthermore, he is very intelligent and has a quick mind. The journalist suggests that Yuzuru wasn't revealing his true nature when asked about weakness because he answered too quickly without a lot of angst. I would suggest that Yuzuru knows himself well and has a very quick mind. He never gives evasive answers. His responses are directly on point, without any thought as to how his answers will reflect on him.

I agree. I'm so impressed by his ability to be blunt and genuine yet always stay classy at the same time.

OT, I was reading Aoi honoo yesterday evening (\o/) and it was so fun reading Yuzu's internal RAGE when Arthur Gachinski, who was third at junior worlds when he was first, got better results than he did for his first senior season. How humiliated he felt then. And how it fueled his competitive spirit with the success we know.

That's so interesting. I may pick up the book then if there's translations. It would be a lot of hard work for me to read it myself though gladiolusc is inspiring me to pick up Japanese again with her amazing translations.

I think Gachinski definitely felt the heat from Yuzu's competitiveness even if it may not have been directed at him specifically. I got that sense from his comments when he announced his retirement (translated here).

"For a long time I have been persecuted by injuries, I stopped. But I have to move on, and it’s time to finish my career and go in a new direction. I can say that my decision was easy enough.

And to those guys who now will fight at the Russian Nationals I wish luck and a lot of strength. To sustain what is happening at the international level in figure skating, you need to have steel nerves. Let it be no matter for what is Yuzuru Hanyu doing. This is the only way. – Gachinski said."

Now he's matured, of course, but I'm pretty sure Nathan's ignited similar feelings in him at 4CC :cheer:. I long for new "intense Yuzu" images. Let's hope we'll have them at world !

That's why I don't think Brian should have kept Nathan's SP score at 4CC from Yuzu. I believe he performs well when there is no place for fear.

EDIT: In hindsight, maybe it's really a blessing in disguise he lost 4CC. I don't think Yuzu is thinking of anything right now except winning lol.

No I was reading the english translation. I wish my japanese was good enough to read it in japanese ! If you purchase the book, then nonchan will send you the translation.

Does nonchan have English translations for both Blue Flame and Blue Flame II? I have both books. (I can speak Japanese, but I can't read Japanese.)

EDIT: I should have read the subsequent posts since they answered my question.

Yeah, but I want to survive till Pyeongchang or the day he lands 4A…

I don’t know about JUMP with Yuzu on its cover, but before Sochi they featured some skaters in men’s category in an article because they were the boys that jump. IIRC they interviewed Javi.

20 periodical... and we don't even have one in my country :sad4:
Well many of them are just hodgepodge of photos from photo agencies, or filled with disrespectful chat of non-specialists, and they disappear in very short time. I know the time when there was only one or two magazines released in a year, so I think this is a temporal situation, like we are in a huge summer storm now.

Being bankrupt isn't tantamount to being dead!

I'm already bankrupt because of Helsinki :drama:
to the point that I can't bring it over myself to buy poohs and throw them away so I will just enjoy the pooh rain from afar....
That's why I was thinking of making a banner to show my support but I've never made one before... anyone with experience? (I'm pretty bad at diy, tho)

on an unrelated note, I just came back from ice skating for the last time :hopelessness: my local ice rink is closing for the season
