Ah yes, how could I forget he's not 'balletic' enough. Darn. Poor Yuzuru. I guess he's not Nureyev, what can a bloke do. It is what it is
That was really hilarious and still is hilarious, as that nonsense still crops up!

This criticism always makes me laugh. If ballet is the only form of artistic movement they're familiar with, they need to go out and get more cultured.

( I know I can't be saved ) :slink:

I think it a very good dream! :luv17:

I guess that he can feel empty and alone after he gives it all to gold winning program and sometimes I think top skaters after competitions need sometime alone to get back strength.

I guess instead of like... practicing skating, image training, and studying other skaters he should watch a lot of Nureyev on youtube instead. I'm sure that would help. Because this is ice skating he's competing in, you see, not some extreme layman's idea of ballet.

Yeah, like once or twice. Way too much. :(
He's a complete failure, yeah, a total write-off. :) he hasn't managed to top his own WR this season.
But OK, maybe, the pressure can be off and he can be free to skate as an underdog? Or he'll never get to be an underdog now?

He'll never be an underdog, obviously not in his own mind and not in our fellow posters mind. The existence of random mentions or insinuations anywhere everywhere recently basically proves he's the man to beat. :confused2:

In this forum "not balletic" are one of the top words that you can find... )))

With the same quality, no one would even reach the end of the program.

tell me who can do stuff with the same quality. :) You'd have to have different skaters do different parts of Yuzu's program to pull it off with equal or (perhaps) a better quality. :)
Still we'd be put hard to it to find a man jumping a quad out of spread eagles or triple axels off a counter.

No kidding! I want it to happen and yet I don't want it to happen so soon.

Same here  :drama:

I think at this point he'd have to have +3s on all jumps in H&L and even then it'd be ~debatable~. He looks at the ice too much, you see.

I "love" complaints about his noodle arms. I was watching some old FS vid of some very liked skater, and the "arm choreography" was worst than anything I saw from Yuzu, even in his junior/ early senior years. Helicopter arms

Don't you forget his posture! It's not "balletic" enough! (and I lol'ed so hard when I read in old competitions thread he "doesn't have any transitions")

When I read some time ago in some thread that I want to forget, that some posters went from "Nathan has so much potential and he's artistic skater- watch his junior programs/Ex" to "I don't see where Yuzu is so much better than him" I was speachless

Okay, I had a weird dream last night , I guess pre worlds hysteria hit me. So I was somewhere in dark street searching for Yuzuru :palmf: then I found a dark house and suddenly I got he should be there, I went to the direction of back yard and I found him in total darkness sitting in the big hole or a well, I wanted to pull him out from there and told I will bring the rope , in this darkness I was seeing only sparkle of gold medal on his neck, it was shinning so brightly.. tho he refused to go out from there he was telling me that he wants to sit alone because this medal is shinning so bright there. So I have left him in that dark well alone... ( I know I can't be saved ) :slink:

Look on the bright side, at least he got the gold

The hilarious is, the so-called "balletic" skaters as some of the fans claim actually are not balletic at all.

I am never a fan of ballet. But my friends are crazy fans of ballet. And I tell you, some of them trained ballet at young age, some followed ballet since they were studying in Russia years ago. If they're forced to watch the so-called "balletic" skaters as those people keep claiming, I am afraid they will vomit.

I mean, I really hate the way those people abuse the word "balletic". :rolleye:

It's a key word. If you want to prove that skater A is better than skater B, just write that A is "balletic" and B is "not/ not enough balletic".
If "balletic" stop working they will find another stupid excuse.

Well, sometimes you can drag someone to ballet school but that won't make them a dancer. It just means they went to ballet school.

I am glad he is not balletic then, I find most of the skaters that are said to be balletic very stiff. I much prefer natural lines and movement.

er... if you did ramble about Chopin, I'd be just over the moon to read it. Your piece about H&L was brilliant...
I think I remember that post, it was great :points: so feel free to post 1000 word ramble about any Yuzu program you like :agree:

And I won't comment about so called elevator music, because I would probably write something rude about someone's else music choice :scard7:
Yes please? So I can read it 100 times and sigh with happiness.
Please do! We all appreciated your last one!

I feel like I'd be just saying what everyone here already thinks  But if he does another great performance of LGC at Worlds.... Well, I'm not sure anybody can stop me  The contrast of quick linear vs wide circular movements in accordance with the music, and the staccato use of toe picks and punctuation of choctaws...:laugh:

The entire premise of treating figure skating as some kind of dancing on ice is wonky at best, and choosing ballet of all dances :noshake: Look, if someone can incorporate moves from the hula into a program while still doing all of the elements unique to skating then kudos to them, but it's still skating in the end that's being judged. If anyone wants to watch ballet they'd go watch ballet. How is this supposed to attract anyone to the sport I have no idea.

Yeah... I remember how bored I used to be with Ladies discipline when most of them were aiming at being balletic princessess. Glad that time is over.

Out of Men, though, who is actually a "balletic" skater nowadays? The only ones that come to my mind are Patrick and Denis Ten, and I don't enjoy Patrick's skating much precisely becuse I find his "balletic" posture stiff and his movement too controlled, not free enough. With Nathan, although people love to point out his balletic background, not much of it shines through.

So true... When it's about other skaters I usually just ignore that kind of comments and move on but I can't stand when it's about Yuzu and not only because I'm a fan of his skating and personality but because I really believe that his programs are true art in terms of figure skating as ballet can be true art in dancing.

The real thing I love about figure skating is that diversity - skating, jumps, modern dance, ballet, acting... and each program is unique. But for me also the most attractive part is skating itself and no artistry can substitute perfect jumps for me. I literally stop breathing sometimes watching Yuzuru's jumps.... or spins or other elements...

Edition: Yuzuru to my opinion is always a master of artistry !

Agree with this. With Nathan's current programs (most specially that FS), his technical content soooo overshadows his balletic background. However now at the current era often times, with high TES judges are willing to throw in high PCS (so saddening). I can only hope his next programs will be better than this. Though Yuzu hasn't got that abundant of a balletic experience, he's shown prominent growth throughout the years (and his programs have been great examples of a great combination of TES and PCS errr... except with that NDP  ). Denis Ten and Javi too, I thought are examples of a nice mix of TES and PCS. Patrick often times is imbalanced, high PCS not so much on TES.

Wow, only a few more days before Worlds! Can't wait for Yuzuru to make my heart race fast with his programs! XD Show us the best versions of your current programs Yuzuru!!! :hap10:
