2017 Worlds Pairs SP

They both got injured in practice this morning. She even got stitches.

My goodness! I never heard that.

In that case, I'm surprised that they even competed this evening.

Just shows how tough Pairs skaters are!

Amazing pairs competition!!! One of the best I've ever seen!!! So much drama and great perfomances! I can't wait to see the LPs!!! Great evening!!! :cheer:

From all the pairs, the one with the biggest chance of climbing up the ranks is James/Cipres, They could have been 5th or 6th without the fall...
but pair is too hard to predict, ice is slippery AND le LP is 4:30 minutes which is plenty of time for a disaster. :drama:

I know I shouldn't feed the troll but I have to ask...what evidence to support your claim that they don't want to be there exists? For a team that wants to retire they sure do put a lot of effort into getting interesting and challenging programs out there.

The skipping of worlds 2015, skipping most of 2015 and 2016 seasons, their performance in this sp.

She complains, there is no chemistry between Meghan and Eric.

well... she should learn that there are different kinds of chemistry... i see it here... beautiful and supportive friendship between a gay man and his number 1 fan :) the best possible friendship ever ;) let me tell you...

I really enjoyed the whole competition although there were unfortunate cases. The teams that didn't make it to the FS still have a chance to get 4 spots for the Olympics at Nebelhorn (or other CS Trophy) in the following season, so keep it up!

she is not used to such a low score... i think it's the combination of lower BV on the 3T, the spins which is their trademark didn't score well and the throw as well..

so 1.5 points or so lost on each of these 3 is equal to a full element...

Okay, that makes sense...thanks 4ever. Eric's hip was surely tested on the sbs spin today. Kudos to them for pulling out a 70 plus, being injured and all.

Correction: teams 16 and below all get 16 points.

Nope. That's only for FS qualifiers where the total number of qualifiers exceeds 16. For those who compete in the SP, but don't qualify for the FS:

Competitors who were entered for the Short Program/Short Dance, but
did not qualify for the Free Skating/Free Dance, will be awarded 18
points for Single Skating and the number of points equal to their
placement in Short Program/Short Dance for Pair Skating/Ice Dance
(however if this placement is lower than 18, only 18 points will be
awarded)

From the Special Regulations and Technical Rules

That's why D/R changed their SBS 3Lz with 3T and about T/M it was not sure whether they will compete or not.

Protocols are hilarious!

S/M got pozitive GOE for side by side 3S.
T/M got pozitive GOE for 2ft throw and side by side spin.

Sui/Han should lead by a bigger margin.
The GOE is ridiculous

yup ... and you know, there is a reason why they removed the 3t from their LP since Nationals.... it was hurting Meagan's foot... so kudos to them, considering Eric cannot do the lutz with his hip, to bring up the 3Ts, even if Meagan is not really comfortable with it... They are fighting and they could easily have withdrawn (wouldn't be surprised if they did if Eric is worse tomorrow)

However, I hope they keep the fight so Canada survives and sends 3 teams next year. It would be heartbreaking not to be able to do so for not only one pair but two.

So proud of S/K after all they have gone through. Something tells me after what Alexa went through this year keeping that 2nd spot for the Olympics wasn't going to faze them at all.

More than that lost on having to do sbs 3T instead of 3Lz their money jump.

Fuzzy brain at the moment. Thanks for letting me know!

No problem! I've read through those rules enough times while summarizing them for the Multiple Spots threads I've done for the past few years, that I remembered exactly where the rule was in the document, lol.
