Also Nathan didn't either. Well, tbh Patrick not being there is more surprising but I thought Nathan was the new USFS media star? :p

I'm wondering if Nathan decided not to do it because of his boot problems  Also he must be feeling pretty bruised and battered after those hard falls! But Karen not being there is extremely surprising.

Still over the moon with that perfect skate! :hap93:

Can I also please mention that his current hair is perfect? Not too long and not too short. Yuzu, I know you got your hair cut around the time you went to Japan. Please keep it this way.

Wow, that picture is the first time I have seen any of the medals. It's so small! For a second I thought it was one of the medals they give for SP.

I agree. I don't think someone else winning would have decreased the pressure much for the reasons you mentioned especially if he puts the 4Lz into his programs next season. I think the most pressure is really coming from himself, the self-inflicted pressure of having this goal you have set for yourself that has driven everything you have done. I think he performs well with this type of pressure though. Ever since he was a kid, his impossible checklist has been: 1) medal at Sochi, 2) gold at Pyeongchang, 3) become a top skater, 4) break world records, 5) do something for the first time, 6) 4A in competition. Amazing to think how one by one these have fallen in the ~10 years since and now all that is left is 2) and 6).

It does seem he will always be the favorite no matter what, unless he ended up completely off the podium this year, but IMO even still :slink: People will be expecting that he'll pull out his WR-breaking form any minute now and today he showed that he could

I mean, at 4CC everyone predicted he would win. He didn't. Yet despite not winning 4CC and nor having landed that CoD all season, everyone still expected he would get it together and peak at worlds. Which he did! But the honest truth is, he's expected to win all the time even if he's been having a not so great season. It's both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because like we saw today, he's the only one who chooses his own fate by skating clean. It's a curse because...well, he'll never not go into any event without pressure probably for the rest of his life unless he decides to do a Katarina Witt comeback one day.

Also, to Meoima for the best prediction all year. I need some lottery numbers from you

Finally, have you guys realized all of his world championship wins have been from behind  But this is not true of Olympics or GPF!

Yuzuru's interview on yle (Finish TV? Not sure).

https://twitter.com/tyugaeri/status/848120229465120768

Worth a watch if you haven't! Thanks for linking this interview. Definite improvement in English, we get to hear him talk about training at TCC and with Javi (conspiracy theories begone!) and little common mistakes in English words are just too cute :luv17: ( I think he meant to say Javi's quad is consistent instead of constant? Either way we understand)

yep, he meant consistent... but constant kind of worked too... they're constantly working for him, LOL.

And looking at the protocols briefly here: I love me some Shoma, no doubt about that, but how do his 3a combos earn higher GOE than Yuzu's? Again, someone else scores better on an axel than Yuzu and I am incensed over that... I can't think of anyone, excepting midori, who ever had a better axel than yuzu... and don't tell me entry into them... grrrr... or out of them... or form... or distance.. or... grr.... i'm going to bed, too much skating today, I think, I am becoming incoherent...

so, I comeback to this thread after calmed down, suddenly I can't English

asdgghjklllaladfbkllfhjt jlslll !!!!!!! aaaaaaAaaAAAAAAA !!!!

what a best April fool joke ever???
Yuzuru Hanyu oh my.. when I saw the score come uot, I can't stop Scream OMG, OMG like what he did at Sochi, I'm trembling so hard and somehow I forget how to breathi

well, he is one of a kind indeed, truly a gift for this cruel sport :)

my Dream podium is missing Nathan, but I'm ok. idk I just can't into Shoma

Before I go to bed since some of us actually live quite close to Helsinki a k a the Temporary Yuzuru Time Zone  Just wanted to share this link I found to the BBC commentary (not my upload): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5gygnj_2017-wc-men-fs-g4-en_sport

Also, don't think anyone here have pointed it out yet but Yuzuru managed to fulfill another one of his goals this season: World Record Free Skate with a Level 4(!) Step Sequence this boy just leaves me speechless :palmf:

Rewatching his FP for the Nth time and still has tears in my eyes...I love how you can see the audience reaction in the crowd so clearly, they are practically my exact emotions!

Everyone was so nervous and intense and on edge, then as the program progressed you want to jump out of your seat but kept thinking "not just yet, not yet, one more, one more", than after the final lutz you can't contain anymore and then you clap like crazy while trying to hold back tears...

Shae-Lynn, for the love of everything holy, please don't put the last jump after the Chsq and 2nd spin next time, because I can't BREATHE until the very last few seconds of the performance :dbana:

This just gave the best H&L description:

"Cool as a cucumber" - BBC, 2K17.

They were right on the green though.

jk, the whole commentary is interesting, especially the actual description at the end about the lack of tension at the upper body and the delicacy.

Are you kidding!? That's the best part of the near death experience! The last 20 seconds of despair (!!!)

:cool14:What if next season they put the last jump as the last element of the program?

It's past 5 in the morning - but the adrnaline pumping in the body won't let me sleep. I'm still reliving this past day... :)

GUYS. IT'S A MIRACLE.
They're actually broadcasting the competition right now on TV! Perks of living in the border, I'm watching it right now, again on NBC.
I can't believe I'm watching it on TV, not from my computer.
Today is truly a magical day!
