Very quick update, I am back on home soil, which means no more stoopid geoblocks.
So I just checked and I can indeed make Yuzu transcriptions of the Dutch commentaries of:

- Eurosport Men's SP (recap, it actually aired here! though hidden under a listing of live cycling, lol)
- Eurosport Men's FS (live)
- Dutch public broadcaster NPO1 Men's FS (recap) (by a fun Dutch "general" sports commentator, he also does commentary for gymnastics, I think)
- As well as the Eurosport general recap program
- (If there was a normal recap of the Men's FS, I will probably still find it, too) <--- yes there was, but it sounds like the same commentary as the live edition

I think it will depend a lot on what Shoma might plan. And Nathan. But mostly Shoma. Shoma is the most direct adversary he has right now, both in BV, GOEs and PCS, even more than Javi, unless Javi adds a 4Lo. But yeah, in order to stabilize his layout, does he keep his BV in order to go clean more often and risk being potentially 10-15 points lower in BV than Nathan Chen? Or if Shoma adds a 4S and goes for 5 quads, can Yuzu risk the lower BV in that case too, even with the expected instability that layout might have at the beginning? 4Lz would give him a lot of freedom in terms of his BV and layout (as he could start with a 4-different quad layout and if necessary, YOLO a repeat quad without losing his two 3As). But, as he said, it will all depend on how things go in training and what the success rate of that is.

No idea, he is still considering all possibility of course and I think he will be more set on it after whatever will happen at wTT. Boyang watered down his and actually gain a lot from it. Judges still prefer clean skates after all. Regardless, I am leaning to think he would be doing 5 with 4Lz, he has been training his layout with 5 quads this season, as if he is preparing his body/stamina to do 5 quads. But who knows, really need to see if he will still be in a good shape at WTT or not.

If I were him, I would do 5 quad with a 4Lz honestly. Firstly, I think if he goes for CS, there are 5 competition to stabilize it (CS, 2 GP, GPF, Nats) before olympics. He has 1 month to adjust his layout after Nats (like watering it down), though his pride won't let him water down his tech but what I meant is he still has room and chance to up his tech. Secondly, unlike last year, hopefully he is really healthy all season long and after WTT so he has more time to prepare. He can always do an extra CS if he wants more "competition" setting to test his layout. Lastly, heck, he is the reigning WC and OGM going into his second OWG, I honestly and genuinely think he has nothing left to prove and he can just YOLO whatever he wants.

Most importantly, I really think what is the most crucial for him is to stay healthy. Look at what he is capable of when he is in top form this year - 4 great competitions. I also wish he would spend most of his time in Toronto again this year, it clearly work out for him this season and the last olympic season (2013/2014).

:hijacked:

By the way, does anyone knowledgeable in tech wants to fill out the section on "Skating Techniques" in Yuzuru's wikipedia page? It seems a bit bare compared to some... other... skaters...

And we now have an actual NTY article to cite as source now, among other things

There are simply no words to describe his technique ;)

But it made me finally look at his wiki page, new WC result included

And geez, outside of 2 instances (2014 NHK & 2013 WC, both being heavily injured), Yuzu didn't finish lower than 2nd for 5 years. I love me some inconsistency like that

Yuzu is so extra

Yuzuru Hanyu has scored four times above 200 points in free program. Thrice he has scored above 210 points and once above 220 points.
You have no idea how much i like to read this. I almost want to be a bad citizen and print this on strips of paper, then scatter them all around the city  So everyone knows! I can't because everyone would know it was me

What is the more correct translation?

This from here
Yuzu: Wait, over 300 and 4th place? Just how much (do you need)!

*arrow points to shoma*

Yuzu: *clapping* I don’t want this kind of competition anymore!
Shoma: *laughing and nodding*
Yuzu: Really don’t want this kind of competition right!
Shoma: I don’t want it!
