Several great moments in there, thx for sharing the link! How was he so unfazed by watching Yuzu and seeing his massive score come up? These boys are riling each other up so much with the quad attempts - it's scary. Also, the first time I've watched his Worlds exhibition (yes, I'm lagging behind :rolleye:) and I'm blown away. His flight over the ice is almost unreal here. Guess, his SS are among the very best of the field indeed (maybe even 2nd to Patrick's).

That is the thing which made me surprised most about shoma. He said about it, “Don’t you want to see a nice performance, do you?” lol. He saw yuzu's performance and confirmed the score and thought that he couldn’t catch yuzu with his current power and what he had to do now was he would achieve what he was capable of now. And he did. No one can do like that. Any skater complains about that the noise of the venue by the great performance made him nervous, bra, bra, bra… Shoma was different.

Further, the difference with yuzu's score was several points. If he would have got lutz, he could have won. The reporter said so to Shoma. But shoma replied it was meaningless saying lutz or tooloop now and what he’d done was 100% of what he could do. Further, he added if Javi had been perfect, he would have been 3rd. He is a cool person.

Aaaah, thank you for this tidbit, hamaguri! Dai might've been happy to know he's still being recognized, if you had greeted him. :)

.

What made me surprised was he was tiny! Id seen him live on rink at shows and on TV… he looks big on the ice. He’s just great.

Shoma shows the challenge of 4ltz at his interview in Japan today. He practiced it at the EX practice and got some response.

At other article, he said this season he had “slacked off” with expressions this season because he must have concentrated on jumps. He said he could rotate spins at the second times speed at his practices. Lol.
He thinks he wants to pay attention more about his artistry from now. Lol.

Lord, if those performances are 'slacked off' expression, can you imagine?! We are in for a treat season, imo.

Welcome back @TheGrandSophy and I am glad your health has improved. We have missed you! :ghug:

It's hard to imagine what kind of program could top the fierceness of LOCO. Nessun Dorma last season also built up nicely, but I'm ready to let myself be surprised. No matter what it is I will not let the first impression cloud my judgement, like I did with LOCO. Shoma can sell anything!

Hello there,
Does anybody know where can I find a CBC version of Shoma's performance?
Kinda curious about Kurt's comments.
I can translate something in return, from Japanese to English, if anyone need that...thanks a lot!

I sort of feel that Kurt doesn't sound as positive as he used to be. He said several times that Shoma's knees are going to hate him for doing that twisting at landing. And he basically said the reason why Shoma is able to land all those jumps is because he rotates a lot before get into the air and that powerful knee twist.

Yap, that's the reason I wanted to watch the video. Thanks for sharing.
Shoma's landing had been trouble sometimes and he finally fix it for 4T this season (at least a little bit)
And the rotation stuff, I thought he did it to prevent under-rotation...
All in all, I'm still searching for the source lol.

His 3A and 4T got a lot better this season. Somehow those critical people fail or just choose not to see his improvement. :roll5:

For the video, try Canadian vpn to watch it on CBC. Sometimes it works.

Definitely! I've said before I wasn't entirely convinced by his music choices and overall choreographies this season (although I am deeply in love with specific choreographic sequences in both his SP and his LP), but he is so good at interpreting and selling the heck out of his programs, that he's made me rewatch them in their entirety countless times anyway! It takes a special skater to achieve that. :luv17: No matter what Team Fluffy/Hamada comes up with next season, I unreservedly trust Shoma to be spectacular with it as well! Preferably I'd love to see them bring in a different choreographer for the SP as an experiment, because Shoma is just so good. I'm convinced that he is more than apt to pull off different people's visions and to bring his own flavour to them.

Gosh, the season is barely over and we're already impatiently musing about his new programs! :p

Season isn't over yet, there's WTT to come! Last chance to watch the Tango (and his amazing costume)!

^^ I know, that's what I meant by "barely over". Maybe it was the wrong choice of words? I meant that it's almost over, but not quite yet. :)

I read the barely like 'oh, it's been barely a few days since the season ended' but english is obviously tricky.

I'm always labouring way too long over how to express myself in English. I'm sure that in the end half the things I write aren't quite conveying what I'm trying to say anyway. :p Hopefully I'm not ruffling too many people's feathers unintentionally as a result.

I feel that way on GS all the time, haha!

Just rewatched the SP and it's honestly my favourite rendition of the Ladies in Lavender program ever. His flip...the determined look on his face right before the axel....and to top it all, the last step sequence so exquisitely timed to the music, it flows through him, it's just coming all together. And that at Worlds....ah...it was so wonderful and dreamy. I could spend weeks watching this on replay!
