Agreed. The close gap will motivate him even more. I don't think he'll take it complacently (i.e. I'm ok because I was underscored and Shoma overscored). He hears Shoma's footsteps behind him now more than ever. Again, maybe this could be one of the best things that could happen pre-Olympic season - his realization of how much of a threat Shoma is to winning gold at Pyeongchang.

I think he wants this OGM even more than he wanted it in Sochi. This is his "planned" OGM on his list of things to accomplish. This is his revenge gold and the opportunity to show the world Yuzuru Hanyu at the height of his abilities. At 27, he will be a veteran and it's possible he might still be able to compete at this level if he is veeeeery careful (look at Kohei Uchimura!) but it's a long shot.

Lol I have a thing for his hands....: it's so pretty and elegant, I bet it would look be beautiful on a piano.

JSYK, the first thing my dance teacher praised about him was the line formed from his arm to his hands, and the way he carries his hands You're not alone guys! (I don't count myself in there because... I love everything about him, i can't pick just one thing)

ETA : just finished reading. Yuzu said he never pays any attention to what he eats, and he never even steps on weight/scale (he does not care about his weight basically) until 1/1.5 year ago. This is a bit mind-boggling for me; so he really does not have a dietitian/nutritionist?

TdF and CoR is not a long-shot depending on the timing of the event. But for CS I think he would prefer AC or US classic at worst, I don't think he would want to travel far for CS?

I'm wondering if I need to buy a ticket to Skate Canada or Skate America now. I probably have to do it before he is actually confirmed because the tickets will sell out once he is.

The Japanese fans were quite a presence in the city :agree2: We were both at the Marimekko store, eating fried herring at the Sea Horse, browsing Kallio and the market hall, etc etc.

Yep! Definitely glad I'll be supporting him. Not the best seats currently (except for the men's SP) but if my friend in Korea gets lucky in the lottery I got to make some Japanese friends in Helsinki who are willing to take what I have off my hands. Apparently there won't be a lot available for them. But Koreans love Yuzu anyway so I'm sure they'll represent. .

I have a ticket to Skate America (row A and I'd be on tv), but it's right after Thanksgiving so I don't know if I'll actually make it or not. If he goes, I'm there. As for GPF, I don't know why that would be a problem for him with SA being close to it. NHK is usually close to it .

Didn't that amino something company he sponsors have a nutritionist prepare specific recipes for him for his mother to cook, that catered to his specific digestive system? I thought they might still accompany him somewhat regularly but I guess giving some recipes was the extent of it?

Could be? What I knew was they(?) prepared food for him in Sochi too but he did seem like he ate whatever and did not have a strict diet. Actual dietitian/nutritionist + physical trainer combo would make sure that you weigh yourself and measure your body fat+muscle mass percentage etc regularly, I think.

He does seem to know his body fat percentage very well, at least. Though apparently only recently did they figure out Yuzu needed to eat less before competitions to not feel so heavy like he did at GPF 2016? Seems weird only now they found that out.

Not so weird considering after years only now they finally find out how to make him peak in the latter half of the season

Sometimes I think that's how it is when you're such a natural. You can get away with things other people have to figure out earlier.
