Deniss Vasiljevs

Will Lambiel be choreographing his programs for the new season? Maybe we can see a zebra costume...

I'm more than sure both Deniss' sp and fp will be choreographed by Stephane. Maybe a new ex as well (I still haven't had enough of 'Bring him home', though).

But please, for the love of god, no zebras! All zebras, giraffes, iguanas and other pretty animals should stay on the ice only in the form of toys. Or Adam Rippon's performances.

I also think about creating choreography (both will be by Steph) :) Bring Him Home - Ex is so beautiful in performance Deniss... love this sooo much !

First of all, I'm curious about Deniss' performance in Japan, whether it's going to be a solo or only group numbers for him. Maybe he's performing "Bring him home" there once more because it's too early for new programs, isn't it?

It begins in Japan 5/26/2017 (Fantasy on Ice), I think there will not be new programs (Deniss).

I hope they will perform a more elaborated version of The Four Seasons Duet at FAOI... I had expected that at Ice Legends but that was not to be... :(

I am quite new to Figure Skating, but Denniss stood out to me before I knew who his coach was. Have caught up on Stephane's work as well and they are now one of my favourite coach-skater teams.

Today, I was in the train a lot and browsed through this topic. It was interesting seeing his journey, thanks to all your insightful and fun comments.
Thanks a lot

Watching Deniss' performances from last years' Rostelecom Cup up until this years' Worlds is a great journey already.

European champion one day? Well, why not? He's got it all. He's still very young, improves quickly and works hard. With a stable quad, who knows :-)
I'm excited for the upcoming season!

Oh that hadn't occurred to me! I'd love to see the Four Seasons duet again.

I do love the Bring Him Home EX, except that I can't stand Josh Groban's voice, so I watch it with the sound off. It's actually a good way to appreciate how musical Deniss is. I still feel the emotion without hearing the words.

I'd also love to see an up-tempo, dance-y EX at some point, that lets him really connect to the audience and have fun.

What if the alternative to colorful zebras is a crazy cat costume though? :rofl2:

lol no
Seriously, I think Deniss will design his constume by himself? As far as I know, Stephane designed his costume after the red cat disaster... So I think he will encourage Deniss to design it by himself?

I would love to see a new ex of Deniss in FaOI! Not that I hate bring him home but I would like to see something delightful from him

Christopher just RTed this interview with Deniss from olympic.org, about Lillehamer and YOG, and upcoming season / Pyeongchang.

Q: What are your hopes ahead of the Winter Olympic Games PyeongChang 2018?

D: I would like to successfully perform two quads at the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang and have the audience enjoy my performance so much that there will be a standing ovation at the end of my programme.

Nice

Although with the speed with which figure skating is developing he may not be competitive yet... but I'm crossing my fingers :hap10:

Your schedule involves travelling all over the world to skate. What is the one item you can’t travel without?

My smile and my skates.

Love his positive attitude :) I think the goals he sets for himself are realistic & achievable.

I think his ultimate goal is the 2022 Games, when he will be 22yrs. old. It is good to have a long time goal, pace himself and not to rush on things. There is a chance that the direction of the sport might change to tame the craze for quads after the 2018 (maybe just my wishful thinking but one can only hope!), so it is also good to take a stance to observe the general tide for the time being.

Amen. I understand the desire and hope for Deniss to develop quads.

But Deniss' showmanship, beautiful spins and love of skating make him special. I don't particularly care, as with my other faves, whether he ever really gets a quad. As long as he stays true to being Deniss.:agree:
