Yuzuru's acheivements are amazing. I wish he'd relax a little...You've already got an amazing legacy, anything more is just bonus from here.

Also like...I do find it funny that this season is generally thought of as a bad one cuz he's not finished lower than no.2 all season, won the GPF again, won Worlds and set a new WR as well as doing the first 4lo and all the other firsts he's brought this season AND has proved even if he makes mitakes and changes his layout on the fly he can 1) not zayak and 2) still bring out a bomb, iconic, legendary performance. Even in his 'bad' season when he's having mental blocks and issues with pressure he proves he's the best and why he's considered the best out there. I'm so proud of him.

Yes, adding a new quad that no one's done before and doing 6-quad competitions/4-quad LPs (successfully) :luv17: More quads than any other season! And his score at the SP at Worlds this year would have led any other year. It's not that he's had a bad season, it's that other people have also had amazing seasons, yet he's still come out on top!!

BTW I think the slightly muted enthusiasm you see from commentators and the like is not because they think he's regressed (although some of them have goldfish-level memories for sure), but because his competitors have upped the ante and so the enthusiasm kind of got...spread out, if that makes sense? Like it makes sense to gush about Nathan's 6 quads, Shoma's quad flip, etc.

Anyway, Yuzuru you are so inspirational :luv17:

I'm just so full of love and awe rn lol because the season has been a hard one for him but so valuable! The difficulty in his programs, the way his overall package has continued to elevate through facing the challenges of this season. IA others have had great seasons which does make Yuzu's seem worse in comparison (I'm also very proud of Shoma and really happy for him, same for Boyang, same for Nathan tho I didn't like his programs lol) but he has achieved so much. It's just...Yuzu is continuing to grow and it's incredible because he's already so ridiculously good and well rounded and has already raised the bar so much in the men's field, but he's still getting better and pushing further. It's great that there is so much competition from other skaters because tbh i think it really speaks of Yuzuru's impact as well, i can't remember where I heard it but I swear someone I saw/heard someone say Yuzuru's presence in the sport has raised the quality of the competitive field around him, and it's totally true.

He might be finishing the season a little regretful about his short program and maybe a little unsatisfied overall, but he's going into next season with; improved stamina and being the only one crazy enough to put difficult technical content like 3 quads in the 2nd half of his program, improved skating skills and a precedent of getting consistent level 4s on all spins and steps with positive GOE even on his worst day, a solid trend of getting high GOE whenever he successfully completes a jump, axels so good he gets positive GOE on a pop, improved connection with the audience and more subtle/nuanced performance and interpretation, experience performing to different styles of music, improved emotional and intellectual involvement in his program performances, a better sense of his body and health, improved fitness and muscle mass and most importantly no injuries!

He's smart, he knows what he needs to do to leave Pyeongchang with no regrets and I trust and believe he can do it so long as he explores and finds ways to cope with external pressure, and the pressure he puts on himself. I think he'll work on his overthinking problem and I don't doubt his team at TCC will work hard to find ways to help Yuzu stay in an okay mental state during competitions. And I think he's gonna train smart to reach that goal of raising his average performance and improving his consistency (hopefully he'll get it out of his head he needs his average performance to be 100% clean and perfect every time but focus instead on reducing major errors like pops and falls)

I'm rambling. I'll stop.
TLDR; I'm emo over the season ending and feeling very proud and emo over Yuzu and positive for the crazy mess of a season ahead of us :laugh2:

Lovely! And we still have tomorrow at least to see him cheering on the rest of the team! And finally being relaxed!

Wait. Not only was that emergency quad planned, he was actually going to do a 6th quad instead of his YOLO Axel?!? Mama Orser needs to come back from vacation and make sure he gets some rest instead of going full on quad crazy training.
 
maybe it's true, Yuzu right now is in the same situation like PChiddy pre-Shoci, when there's a new kid tried to outjump the top skater.

but what's make Yuzu so different compared to Chan is, Yuzu not let's it easy for the younguns to outjump him, Yuzu be like "Not today kids...not today.."

must becouse he was the one outjumped Chan, that's why he has those mentality, mad respect for Yuzu :)

I think what's make yuzu great is he was not only aware about the strong competitors aka veterans like javi and Patrick but he also looking into the new raising youngguns, those quad kids.. He's aware and not let himself to be easy. Maybe we can say he's already a great skater nothing to lose or no more to prove, but I'm sure he will say that he doesn't agree and he needs to practice more and more or he's skating bad, etc. He just unbelievable. He doesn't want to limit himself. He always improve and that's make him even more great.

He's also the best jumper in the world, even still (and probably of all time). So that might have a little something to do with it.
 
I finally watched Yuzuru's free skate and I loved it! He was reeeeeaaally smooth and the jumps were great minus the pops, but his 4T1Lo3S was so cool. (That butt spin though) . Anyway I'm glad he can end the season on a good note, I hope we can see a more cheerful Yuzuru tomorrow! And yes he looks adorable in that pink ribbon :laugh:

yeahh indeed unbelievable, sometimes I still thought he's not real, like Shae Lyn said, Yuzu is the greatest gift for this cruel sport

I agree, he's the best jumper, for me Yuzu was giving quads masterclass in the free skate at worlds, those smooth landing were giving me chill

I'm finally watching the entire event (yesterday I watched til the start of the second group). I was so nervous someone *cough* on this forum made me worried that Shoma would break Yuzu's record that I couldn't really sleep for an hour and then dreamt about it. In one of the dreams, he beats Shoma but gets beaten by Nathan, and in the other he ends up 4th because everyone else skates well. :palmf: Woke up in cold sweat and checked my phone for the results lol.

I guess its a good sign that he is doing LGC cuz it means it not staying next season...but I want to see the swan :sad21:
