Do you have link? Is it on CBC website? I can only find full show without commentary there...

Sorry, I am no help. I watched it on tv. But, he really loves Shoma's skating. I am not sure if he loves all of the jumps ( he mentioned his flutz problem this time)...but he loves his actual program, steps sequence, and presentation skills.

No worries. Hope someone will post it online soon. ;)

I'm sorry, I must correct you. Not his first WTT, I was there in Spokane last year, and he was definitely there! Too adorable for words.

Yeah that was Team Challenge Cup, WTT is every two years and it's always in Japan ;)

I'm nearly crying again, oh Kanako....*sniff* I remember a video of Kanako where she points to a pillow or something and then says "Oh, a boy of my rink gave that to me as a present." That boy was Shoma. He's such a kind person, and he really looked up to her. *sigh*

Q. How about this season?

It was the fulfilling and fun season.

Q. Did you imagine that you would raise your level to such an extent?

I think I have grown up to the level that I couldn’t imagine at the beginning of this season.

Q. How about next season?

I want to keep aggressive also in next season. Further, I would like to get as many as competitions which I can find fun.

Q. Which is the point you think was effective for adding your scores in the new challenges?

Various failures lead to the success. Further, it turned out that at the latter season heightening the difficulty of layout worked well oppositely. When there was 4fl only (other than 4t), I couldn’t did it well although (the difficult jump was) 4f only. I don’t know why, but by taking 4 loop which was another unstable factor, other elements began to get stable. I was not sure about 4loop, but such unsureness may have canceled the other unsecure factors.

Q. Which extent do you want to develop with techniques?

I have no thought that I would stay in the current level with techniques and there are a lot of jumps which I cannot get now. My hope is keep challenging to the extent that I can avoid any injury.

Q. In which part have you got the confidence, and what’s the goal you are seeing?

About my goal, still I recognize that the top is yuzu-kun and have worked setting a target of yuzu-kun. While I think I can get closer to him rather than the last season, still I feel the gap between us. Thus I would like to get close to him step by step by doing what to do before me. Further, about the achievement of this season, the biggest one is that I learned to do mental control.

Q, which part do you find necessary to improve?

I lack every factor, so I must work hard with everything.

Q.With quads, are you challenging new jumps?

Every skater is developing at a nonstoppable speed and the level of Men’s jumps is getting higher at a tremendous speed. In that situation, I feel I can manage to keep up with them. This season I’ve learned that it is also important to polish what I can do without being conscious too much. That’s why I will keep working with what I can do. About new jumps, I want to work with them as a fun as much as possible.

Q. Do you feel some development with your expressions?

I don’t feel so much response though, it’s getting better compared with the beginning of this season. It may apply to this program only, but I feel the improvement. However, to see my programs, I find the transitions are not good, so it will be the eternal goal for me.

Q. which do you find has developed this season, technics or mentality?

About technical elements, looking back the beginning of this season, I feel these days were not in this season (note: he feels the begging of this season is the past thing far away from now.) My mind is finally becoming that of an athlete. That’s why I find my mentality has developed more this season. I come to firmly consider my skating only and get independent in mental.

I think last season's disappointment at Worlds and this season's success will help Shoma tremendously in the next season. Nothing worried me more than his practice reports, even seeing him in warm-up I was always nervous. But Shoma doesn't let that phase him at all. He will need that "strong mind" more than ever in the Olympic season. The pressure will be enormous. But I believe he can handle it and will.

He really seems able to forget awful warmups or practices and delivers when the stage is set. That is the mark of a competitor. The growth we have seen since he became senior is amazing, so I really look forward to next year. We are in for a wonderful treat with all the guys who are at the top right now.

I really like this part and he is so right. Worrying about the 4Lo took precedence and most likely his 4F became more instinctual and thus more successful.

Here is a link to This Town from the Gala, for those who haven't watched it yet. He was so smiley and beautiful! Gosh, even the Ex has really grown on me. I love all the little choreographic movements and his heartfelt smile somewhere in the middle.

I don't remember the pillow thing, but I remember her handing candy to her fellow skaters and giving Shoma something chocolate. Almost immediately, he had chocolate on his face! They were so cute together. Their friendship must go back around 15 years or so.

I'm not sure I'll be able to find it again. I have no idea where I saw that...maybe it was an interview and not a video. Haha, yeah I remember the chocolate too!

Anyway..... I'm sliiiiiightly obsessed with a certain silly pink bow at the moment  so I made a thing (another thing, actually. Making a Shoma edition was just too tempting ;) )

OMG - you're killing me! :party2: That tango scowl with the pink bow is just too much! Yes, I need an avatar with the pink bow!

In my search for the Pillow Love affair I found a video of 14-year-old Midori Ito from the beginning of the eighties, where they said Coach Yamada slapped her...I know these were different times, but it is kind of scary to think that the affectionate Yamada has another side to her....together with the "scary" Mother...I'm sure there are some things we don't get to see and rather won't see. But I can't imagine Fluffy slapping Shoma around.

^^^Seems like I read somewhere that Midori and Coach Fluffy were very willful students and Yamada had to "fire" them both as students. Fluffy definitely (playfully) slaps Shoma a lot. In fact I was trying to find her at the boards with him at Eric Bompard in France in Oct. 2015, short program. It was SO funny -- she said something to him and then slapped him on the cheek and they both really laughed. In my mind, I imagined Fluffy saying, "Oh by the way, here's a message from Coach Yamada." I looked but couldn't find it...But a mean, nasty slap -- well, that I can't imagine. I think Shoma is pretty disciplined and we know for sure he's not lazy. Can't imagine that mom would ever allow that. And he's too competitive to be lazy. :roll5:

Midori was clearly upset, so this wasn't some innocent motivater slap...but as I said, these were different times. I also don't know if laziness has something to do with it. Maybe it's different with the ladies....and Yamada is now the age of a grandmother. That could be a factor in softening her methods. Shoma is the only top men she has/had, so perhaps she acts different with him anyway.

げんき is the word that describes Kanako the best!

That is the one where Shoma eats the chocolate bar! ;)
