True, but I think if they went about it with the intention to upseat Seimei, they could do it. Just get a dramatic but unique piece of music with multiple "passages" and I think Yuzuru can work his magic.

i hope they will do another dramatic, seimei-esque program, they work wonders with Yuzuru's artistry, and it draws the audience/judges in... eg.

In the Olympic games, the most valued thing is to win, with the very best strategy, even if sacrificing something. Needless to say, Yuzuru and his team should know it. I believe it explains why they selected H&L for this season. Seimei was such a dramatic program, and so many felt sorry it was not the one for the Olympics. I don't think they can keep using the same type of programs for 3 seasons. I predict (as an apprentice of Meoima :p ). They will surely show us a super dramatic program for PyeongChang.

I don't trust that gossip magazine either, so although I had read it earlier, I did not post about it here. It is more likely Shae-Lynn is involved in the strategy of Yuzuru's team.

To everywhere who is in the video making team:

Please do it if you can find the time for it. That would be incredible if there were other videos too.
I have been waiting for a video analyzis like this, for many, many years...but I thought to do a detailed analyzis AND and a video for it is such an unbelieveable amount of work that probably no one would have the time and effort to do it.
You did it and I still can't express with the right English words how grateful I am for this, because it is the best possible way to learn about the techniqual details, about steps and turns and bullet points etc. And it is not just that but the quality of the video is amazing, all my respect goes to the editor as well.
I'm currently watching it again, the whole video in slow motion, and I already learned more from this video than from anything else in the post months, or even years.
And please don't feel down whatever happened. The 1271 likes on the video in just two days says it ALL, really <3

:luv17: Thank you and everyone for the kind, kind words! I think the outpour of support coming out of that silly debacle yesterday is actually most encouraging to us. No I'm not about to leave FF over idiots :) that said, they just reopened the thread with alll the old comments, good and the bad, deleted :o but i learned my lesson on the edge, so lol, nope

Slow-motion will be out.. SEIMEI and Chopin would be very cool to do  there should be 48 hours each day ;)

I think the collaborative time and effort brought together to do H&L was the coolest part. Yes it was a lot of work, but rather than anyone with too much time on their hands (sry couldn't help the jab at you-know-who :p) I think we were simply smart about incorporating an efficient workflow + incorporating feedback as we went along  That was the only way it could have worked, since we're spanning multiple time zones and different personal schedules across Russia, Italy, China, US, etc. I've said this many times, but this fandom really is talented and resourceful.

(Also if other people are ever interesting at starting their own projects, happy to share the experience, etc)

Some little snippets, a little making of:

Wasn't having the footwork annotations follow the body such a good idea? That was Lys'! We originally thought we could slow down for the step sequence and leave everything else at normal speed, but it turned out Yuzu had even more packed footwork outside of the step sequence :o Slowing down the whole thing felt like too much though, since we actually wanted people to finish watching the entire video. Then Lys suggested having the footwork follow the body as closely as possible, so that the eyes didn't have to flit back and forth between Yuzu doing the steps and the annotations in the bottom corner.that really was so much work though because then I was not only manually putting in each text clip on the timeline, I was also positioning them to make sure for the duration they were on screen, they weren't blocking Yuzu's moving body too much
:dbana:

Because transitions is one of the strong points of Yuzu's choreography and Yuzuru's jumps, in addition to his ease, has always been lauded for entering directly from steps, we wanted to visualize just how many preceding steps and how packed they were. Hence the list of steps that almost ran off the screen and sometimes jumps ending up on a separate frame.

For the introduction, we were prowling the translation spreadsheet for choice quotes and translations :D The sheer number of different languages available for WC LP was amazing! Again, could barely fit in my screen. I had so many favorites and I ended up maybe cutting 3/4 out because the "intro" became 2 minutes long.

The dagger?

Who will be the sheath?

I totally understand Eteri's wish to get her hands on him. She'd be getting a fully realized skater that is on the top of the world in more than one way, and as a coach, gosh, it must be a dream come true? At that point, you can pick up a tonne of stuff to pass on to your up and coming students too. I imagine even a summer seminar of a sorts and it'd be so informative.

Hi
I wanted to share here this compilation video I've made of Yuzu (and Brian) reacting to every World Record he's broken

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHF2sLbI7D4

I wanted to put all these Kiss and Cry moments together like this because it makes me really emotional to see his growth through the years and all the times he's made history

Hopefully the video will need to be updated next season(s) :) ;)

HELLO I finally caught up with the thread and I don't think I want to know what happened in the negativity part of it?

Fact is I love the H&L Video you guys made and I hope you continue this great work~! Seriously a lot of effort and dedication was put into this and it shows anyone who has to say anything else about it should be ignored and placed in a corner of shame.
ANYWAY
Winking Yuzu killed me, the whole camp thing killed me and made me curse myself for not being that girl in red. She seemed so cute tho The off season is going well so far but I fear the moment we won't get the new new pictures and news the withdrawal symptoms will start up.

Also I'm not very knowledgeable on the choreography side as most of you guys are, so I'll just say that I did love every program Shae choreographed for him and I dont mind giving Wilson another chance though I was not such a huge fan of R&J2

Whatever the skating Gods need to make Yuzu keep the olympic gold

Also can I bring this back?

Who will be the sheath?

Oh god, I did not think like that, it was a very innocent suggestion...! :laugh2:

Lol I'm gone for a night and suddenly everyone's accepting the fact that Yuzu will have the generic of all generic warhorses next season. I'm fine with anything/one as long as Jeff does one of his programs :p whatever he needs to do to please them basic peoples

In black leather...wasn't there a skater who had the black leather boobskirt? someone, must have a pic.

I think he was in Lambari's 'tributes'/references to Yuzu post but I didn't save that.

Here it is. An occurrence that shall never be forgotten in the realms of Yuzuru skating fashion.

He's also the owner of POTO replica. A true legend.

the list.

_____________

About choreography, although I've loved/liked all of Yuzuru's work with Jeff as you've also did, I must admit that I would suprisingly be sadder if for some reason hypothetically he decides to leave Shae Lynn. Simply because, for me, right after the success that was R&J 1.0 that established him as a young skater coming up with enourmous potential, there was two consecutive seasons of LP black hole - 2012-2013, 2013-2014 sorry, I swear I still love the sheer fashion bluntness of the boobskirt. And although I didn't like POTO that much, even if I'm much fonder of the practice version, his LPs with Shae Lynn came in as a relief for the people, like myself, who thought that his full brilliance would be confined to his SPs and some of his EXs only. Of course his improved stamina makes for a big part of his LP achievement but H&L and SEIMEI are my favourite Hanyu LPs and I believe they are a collective effort between him and Shae Lynn that isn't obtained only in the course of one season and requires mutual understanding between skater and choreographer. Even if everything can always improve, I believe he already achieved that in both his SP and LP choreographies these past seasons.

About the discussions on the H&L-description video, I want to say that in my free time I used and still do sometimes to see info on the different turns/steps/crossovers/crossrolls/everything, and then pick a few skating programs to put on 0.25 or 0.5 speed and try to identify each of the moves as they come along and repeat some of them innumerous times until I get the idea of the mechanics of it. It would take forever and It was still blind exercise because if it wasn't a Yuzuru program there was no way of knowing the full transcript of what was executed to check if I called them correctly. And because of this, It puzzles me to think that someone could understimate the educational purpose of videos like this one. I could live without the lenghty youtube video comparisons between skaters if they lead nowhere but this one seemed fairly innocuous. Congratulations to the people involded in the creation of it.

And I know i'm a terrible person, I came in too late but still wanted to see the trainwreck but it's all blank now. k

Wait, why is the video back on the Edge? Did you guys give them the okay? I know many of your feelings were hurt the first time around...If you guys are not okay with it, ask him to take it down since they clearly didn't care about moderating the first time around.

They started it anew, but I'm not going there. And no, it's not ok with me, but the others might have a different view.
