Jason Brown

I love that picture of Jason, Rohene, and Kori, mainly because of the expression on Rohene's face. He looks so happy, but there's also wonderment there, almost as if he can't believe it, as if something magic happened.

He did quite a few interesting programs this year, but I think he deserves if for Jason's FS alone. Jason is lucky to have him, but he's also lucky to have Jason to showcase his work.

Champing at the bit to see what they come up for next season!

While I feel for people who wanted to go to Skate America to see Jason, I was not surprised by his GP assignments and think he has a good shot of at least a bronze at both Skate Canada and NHK. He should be able to fit in 2 Challenger competitions beforehand and gain valuable competition experience with the quads and the new programs.

Per this tweet, even on the road and in new boots Jason is practicing his Hamilton program:

Too bad he hasn't been seen practicing his other program yet.

So many skaters are doing old programmes again and while I'm not a fan of that... who else would love to see Jason revisit his 2011 Turandot FS now that he's all grown up?

I would. Jason got the emotional tone and power of that music so beautifully as a what, 16 or 17 year old? I love to re-watch it. Peter Carruthers did an interview where he asked Jason what it was like to get a standing ovation at Nationals ... and the implication was that he did so, even though coming in 9th and not having a 3Axel! Such a great demonstration of everything we love about Jason. (I didn't see that skate until after 2013, though, when I "discovered" him:luv17:).

So this is kind of cute, I guess? Letting fans who glimpse it talk about it instead of making announcements? I am unfamiliar with the songs or the story of Hamilton except that everybody's losing their brains over it, so I just hope it will be a good program.

And he just tweeted an adorable post celebrating that the 2015 Worlds team is back together at NHK! (Him, Josh and Adam) with Adam's podium selfie from 2015 Nats (and poor Max with his head chopped off  ).

The music in Hamilton has received a lot of positive reviews. I'm not sure how well the story could turn into a figure skating program, though.

I feel like there's some unspoken rule in Broadway that ever 5-7 years there has to be a musical that they have to go bonkers over. And all of the U.S. has to agree. Never mind how good the musical actually is.

Or how many Americans have actually seen the musical. Keep in mind that it usually takes 1-2 years after the Broadway run to get financing/logistics together for a nationwide tour. Hamilton is not scheduled to be in Washington, DC until Summer 2018.

Last year, it was Hamilton.
A few years ago, it was The Book of Mormon (that one is actually really, really good if you get satire).
Awhile before that, there was Rent - which had to be the most overrated musical EVER.
Before that it was the 1970s - 1980s, and it was whatever Andrew Lloyd Webber put out.

I know nothing about Hamilton, but I just wish Jason would go ahead and announce it already.

Also, while looking for that adorable clip of Baby Josh and Jason at the banquet, I found this Ice Network story ETA: on 2007 US Nats. It may already have been quoted here, but it just goes to show the "power of Jason" even as a pre-teen in 2007. :

"Brown was unquestionably the most popular male skater at the competition, as evidenced by the horde of female fans stationed just outside the kiss and cry while he sat awaiting his scores. When he went out into the hallway to be interviewed by a reporter, five girls (all club mates of his) gathered around him and refused to disperse until Ade stepped in and ordered them to leave Jason be.

The kicker: when they were asked which one is the president of the fictional Jason Brown Fan Club, three of the girls raised their hands."

Also talks about Josh and eight year old Nathan, so I think earlier suppositions were right, the famous "Bowl Cut" tweet may have come from this comp....

Maybe someone one asked him to dress more... "like a guy", and this was his twisted response

Then again... bedazzling is a lot of work, if Rohene wants a night off from the Bedazzler I think we should give it to him!

Personally I like seeing people comfortable... so if everyone is comfortable in different styles... i say keep pouring the wine till no once cares what everyone is wearing anymore.

A bit OT, but... this was what Plush chose to wear when he was presented with the keys of Florence a few weeks ago;) :

Yeah, I'd like to see evidence of that, too. Or at least hear something about the lp before he goes to work with Frank (assuming that's still in the works). It's pretty cool, though, that he's practicing while on the road.

Count me in!

Haha. When you're a skating god, there are no bounds.

I am very happy for Jason to get Skate Canada and NHK - both with very competitive fields and a great opportunity to prove his value and establish even more confidence. Hope everyone will bring their A-game, because I believe Jason will only benefit from that. It could only boost his determination, strive for challenging himself and develop skills/abilities.

Both competitions are outside of US, so it definitely help out with those remarks about home-inflated scores regarding Jason at SA. For me personally, he does not need to prove anything to anyone in that matter - Helsinki and WTT showed that his approach works for him, his confidence and his results. Even without a quad, he still managed to impress judges, people, other skaters with his skating overall, the way he performs. He already established his 'stamp', signature and certain level of skating presence/quality in FS world, which all make him very individual, unique and desired by competitions. A true rare case of a skater and performer always up to any challenge, any field, any competition, holding his head high, regardless of result, score - because he obviously knows his worth, his aims, advantages and areas of improve.

It's great to be Jason's fan, because you're always up to a treat seeing him perform. It pains some ppl to see that actual skating (leaving out jumping elements alone) can be seen, rewarded and appreciated not only by viewers, but judges also. But it's up to those people, it's a useless fight with someone's convictions and hatred. I focus myself on excitement about seeing Jason in SC and NHK, where he is so loved.

^^^And don't let that cheeky little grin fool you. Behind that smile beats the heart of a focused, tough competitor. He really proved at Worlds that he can deliver under pressure! I have every reason to believe he will continue with that trend... And now let's wrestle him to the ground and get more info from him about his programs!

Tim Dolensky just tweeted:

My team for the @AerialChallenge is: @jasonbskates @akrasnozhon @courtneynhicks and Pooja Kalyan, and @icegirlash and Timothy LeDuc!

Tim is one of the team captains. more info

The event should give us a status update on the quads. :)

I think it's great that we'll see Jason again, but I'm going to be a bit of a wet blanket...

Jump contest? Meh.

I'd love to see Jason and Timmy D. in a *spin* contest:love::love::agree:

The Broadmoor Open is the same weekend so it's likely Jason will compete and we'll get a glimpse of his new programs. And maybe, just maybe Jason and Tim will compete in the spin contest. ;)

hmmm, wonder if dh would mind spending part of our anniversary weekend at the WA. :)

I think that's a great way to spend the weekend.

My interest in the jump contest is less about the competition itself and more about seeing how comfortable and confident Jason is with the quad(s).

Jason in the Aerial Challenge... will there be a ballet jump segment? :hap10:

Agreed - I think the jump challenge is a great chance for Jason to get those quads out there and landed, under the pressure of competition (and with the added pressure of not wanting to let down his teammates), but without the added complication of integrating those jumps into choreography. In addition to 4T and 4S, it would be great to see him bring out that gorgeous 3A-1l-3S he worked on last year. Whatever the outcome, it will give Jason and his team a data point for the season: here's where you are, here's where you want to be; how do we get there?

Heh heh. The fact that people are already counting Team Dolensky out (someone on FSU has already decided the gold is between Teams Abbott and Bradley) may give Jason extra motivation. As may that Ice Talk season wrap where Nick Zaccardi, when asked about Adam's and Jason's chances for the Olympic Team, said he was much more interested in Vincent. Huh.

Anyway, jumps competition aside, if Jason also participates in the Broadmoor portion of the competition, we will get a chance to see his new programs. So bummed that this comp will likely not coincide with one of my work trips to Denver, but who knows, maybe that'll change!

Finally, totally OT, but I'm wondering if the fact that Jeremy is a team captain here suggests that he's contemplating competing at Nationals and trying to make the Olympic Team.

The Aerial Challenge FB page states that the team captains were chosen because they are the ones doing the back-flip challenge. At any rate, I may be able to go on a weekday or Saturday. :) Just not Friday.
