Thank you for sharing! I like that Mura says he didn't know if he continued to skate in the competitions after Sochi Olympic season, but he made up his mind to do so because Yuzuru was there :)

Yes, Yuzu and Mura seem to like getting into the nerdy details of jumps.

Here comes another article today.

He says that he had been attached to 3A so far but now he has effective 4T, so he feels he doesn't need to limit only to 3A.

I'm curious if he will reduce 3A in FP

Yeah, if he can't get the 4Lz to work in time for the FS, in order to upgrade his BV he'll probably go for 5-quads with 2 4Ts (and 2 4S or 2 4Los, whichever he chooses) and unfortunately have to ditch one 3A.

So pray for an increased success rate on that 4Lz so we can have Ina Bauer 3A at the end!

thank you so much for translation!! I'm very curious too about Yuzu's mysterious plan

It will be equally interesting to hear Yuzu's thoughts and motivation about Chopin 3 choice, which seems to be a Yuzu's decision completely .
Clearly, if he wants to replicate Sochi path , a part from LGC, Chopin 3 is the only choice he actuallly has , since he skated to 3 different SP out of five seasons after he moved to Canada, so it doesn't appear an akward choice at all but -on the contrary- the only one , being Etude SP the other option left, a masterpiece not really skated to its full potential , but it was Nanami & B&B collaboration, so it won't be back unfortunately

There is a translation from @Iron_Klaus

And yes, another version of Etude is my secret dream that will never come true. One can hope.

Thank you, everyone for the articles, translations and links:luv17: I expected no news for at least a couple of days before Faoi Kobe, but I was wrong, (not that I am complaining:laugh:)

So, it was right that Sportiva article was cut short and FB group version was the short version. If you read it with Iron Klaus-san's translation, you will get the original version. (Thanks, yude for the info!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yFTNJ4cY1U TV Asahi has posted Yuzu's clean Chopin performance on Youtube! It's so beautiful!

Oh yesss!!! Thank you so much for the links :love::love:
If Yuzuru can repeat that performance at Olympics, I doubt that anyone can beat him in the short programme. It just smelled like a new world record, even if it wasn't performed in an ISU competition. I think the step sequences are not the final version yet and will be even better in September.

I don't know, whether he'll add the 4Lz to his arsenal next season or not, but I don't think that this jump is really neccessary. The current max. base value is high enough to win Olympics, if he skates clean. In Helsinki he should have got higher GOE's (lost almost 10 possible extra points there) and in his PCS there is some room to grow as well. But if he want's to add the 4Lz - I don't mind.

I'm still wondering why they deleted the parts of Yuzuru's explanation for choosing Chopin, but no problem for me since I always trust this writer, Mr. Oriyama.

I wish they will upload Niigata's show as well because the broadcasting on TV is not going to happen :sad21:

Niigata will have Evgenia and Yuzu together. I really want to see some clips at least.

http://ameblo.jp/oda-nobunari/entry-12280492241.html a new group photo with Yuzu and Nobu and more of Nobu's adorable third child.
Also a long interview with Shoma was recently translated and he said some very nice things about Yuzu.

At Worlds, Hanyu was first and you were second. Did you deeply feel Hanyu’s strength by being second?

S: Yea. I thought I’ve always known Yuzu-kun’s strength, but when he performed a clean free at Worlds, I was confident that Yuzu-kun will win. Right now, the only times I’ve gotten higher scores than him were when Yuzu-kun made mistakes and I performed clean. I know that there’s a lot of possible outcomes since this is a sport, but I of course want to win based solely on our abilities.

Were you watching Hanyu’s free skate?

S: Yes. No seriously, it was amazing. All of the jumps were perfect.

Were you able to step on the ice without unrest?

S: I was confident that there was no way I could win, so I just wanted to do whatever I could do.

The result of that was that the point difference between you and Hanyu’s was 2.28. How do you feel about those two points?

S: But that was only because I had a lead from the short. Although the total difference was 2.28, there was an even bigger difference in the free (8.75 points), and since there was that big of a difference even when I did a good performance, I thought, “I still got a long way”.
Whose expressions do you think are really good?

S: There is something different about each and everyone that I like. For example, I really like the way Javier’s skating just flows non stop and that there’s always a story to it. Jason Brown’s every little movements are so pretty, and for skating skills, I like Patrick Chan’s. And the skater who has all of that combined is Yuzu-kun I think. Honestly there are so many great skaters, they let me learn so many things.

And that’s where you think Hanyu’s strength is?

S: Amongst many of the skaters who are good at specific elements, Yuzu-kun is the one who has the highest abilities in all aspects.

Are there any elements which you think you are better at (than Yuzuru)?

S: Nothing at all. Honestly.

Then how did you get such high marks and won silver at Worlds?

S: My jumps just happened to land. I think it was because I had my emotions under control. But it was also because of luck, since this is a sport.

Wow - so much news and translations! Thanks everyone. I agree that the original plan was to use LGC for the Olympics but after having trouble with it, decided to go with something "safer". The irony is that he had a very reliable 4S-3T in Chopin 2.0. My personal opinion is that the timing of the jumps and beat of the music was what was so difficult for the 4S-3T in LGC. I think he's smart to recognize that going clean at the Olympics will be very important.

Actually he did 4T3T in Chopin 2.0.

He really only started attempting 4S3T at Worlds in Boston and then more regularly this season. It's a shame that he couldn't get a handle on the combination in both programs in the same competition, he either hit it in the SP or in he FS but never both at once, because when he lands it it's a thing of beauty. I don't know if he would've repeated LGC had he skated it clean, my hunch was he would've done an entirely new program that was similar to Chopin, but maybe with a different piece of music by Chopin. Maybe he'll always have a bit of a hot-cold relationship with the salchow, but I also thought that once he landed the combo he would continue to land it regularly. That sort of happened with the free but he sort of lost that with the SP after GPF. It's frustrating I'm sure, he's clearly capable of the combo in the SP. In all the practice footage from GPF onward he pretty much had clean SP runthrough in all competitions at practice. Maybe it's as Tracy speculates, he gets too caught up in the SP performance and messes up. I know a lot of fans wanted him to ditch the combo, but I was staunch supporter of him keeping his layouts as-is this season so I'm a bit sad the combo likely won't make it into Chopin 3.0.
