Yulia Lipnitskaya

Wow nice to hear such lovely news. I am excited to watch her skate again. I am soooo hoping she gets a GP spot. :) :hap10:

I too would like to see her in GP series but she was not chosen. But hopefully she will do good this season and be included in Team Russia for the Olympics

According to Russian forums, the federation may keep that additional spot at RC for Yulia if she skates clean at Sochi Open Skates in September. So we still have a chance to see her there.

Just a big ole smile from me :)

I was preparing for a retirement announcement but now we've a bit of hope!! :hap36:

Ive been rereading some of Yulia's interviews, and I came across this quote from December 2015:

Q: Was this kind of free program performance expected today?
A: Honestly, I expected that I wouldn't be able to do anything at all today, because I wasn't ready, not mentally, not at all. I was sitting in the hotel room before the free, and all I wanted to do was to cry and to run away from here. I must do something with the mental background of the free, because I develop such an anxiety that it's like I really don't know what to do and how. I don't even know myself what I'm scared of. I really can't understand it. Like, I am afraid of not doing it right, or letting everybody down. All of it at once.

I miss seeing her instagram posts and her ask.fm interactions and interviews, but if she feels like she does in the quote above, I think it's a good thing that she's staying away from media. Staying away from the media will help relieve the pressure of everyone's judgments and expectations and allow her to focus on only skating. Get better soon Yules, and I can't wait to see her compete :cheer:

Does this mean she won't be able to participate in the next season?

I think they'll give the Rostelom GP spot to her. She was the darling of Sochi, and she's the only one of the girls who has experienced the Olympic pressure. She brings so much publicity to the sport also, and russian skaters are hated in south korea after adelina sotnikova beat yuna kim- but they love the cute little girl who touched their hearts with schindler's list.

She needs to slay at test skates and not just in the SP either. I can't think of anything I'd like to see more than that :o:

It's RusFed. They don't care about publicity and/or what people think about Russian skaters in South Korea. All they want and expect are results.
Also I doubt people in South Korea are truly Yulia's fans. They hate Sotnikova for Sochi and Medvedeva for breaking Yuna's record. I haven't really seen negative Korean comments under Anna's or Maria's videos.
The good thing is there are not too many girls with whom Yulia will have to rival for Rostelecom Spot. It will be basically just her, Stanislava, Alisa (is she switching to seniors?) and maybe Adelina so she has really high chance of getting a spot.

Me too. It does not matter if she can make it back to the medal ranks or not. The most important point in my view is that she overcomes her current troubles and can later look back at her time in figure skating without feelings of regret or disappointment.
