Actually he did 4T3T in Chopin 2.0.
He really only started attempting 4S3T at Worlds in Boston and then more regularly this season. It's a shame that he couldn't get a handle on the combination in both programs in the same competition, he either hit it in the SP or in he FS but never both at once, because when he lands it it's a thing of beauty. I don't know if he would've repeated LGC had he skated it clean, my hunch was he would've done an entirely new program that was similar to Chopin, but maybe with a different piece of music by Chopin. Maybe he'll always have a bit of a hot-cold relationship with the salchow, but I also thought that once he landed the combo he would continue to land it regularly. That sort of happened with the free but he sort of lost that with the SP after GPF. It's frustrating I'm sure, he's clearly capable of the combo in the SP. In all the practice footage from GPF onward he pretty much had clean SP runthrough in all competitions at practice. Maybe it's as Tracy speculates, he gets too caught up in the SP performance and messes up. I know a lot of fans wanted him to ditch the combo, but I was staunch supporter of him keeping his layouts as-is this season so I'm a bit sad the combo likely won't make it into Chopin 3.0.
Makoto Okazaki, an ISU technical specialist, talked about the entry way to the 4S-3T combo in his SP in this article. (Translated by me) I believe Takeshi Honda also mentioned this somewhere (sorry no source). I am no expert so I am not even sure if I understood correctly what he is saying, but I can tell everyone knows that Hanyu-senshu is a stubborn guy when it comes to fs. Who knows he might bring back that combo

As for 4loop, the difficulty that lies in loop jump itself affected him there. For this jump, you cannot get almost any help from your free leg. Right before Hanyu took off, his edge was not running properly and he missed the timing (of taking off). The reason for the edge being not proper is not clear. It could be either due to some extra tension of his body or the problem of the ice. If it were other kinds of jump, his free leg could have given him speed/momentum, so it would not have resulted in a single jump.
He made an error in his 4 salchow because he entered into the jump with less easy entry course and hence failed to add the second jump. This season he has kept this entry and I believe there would have been other ways he could take in order to nail that combination. His philosophy of not stepping down to easier paths should be respected, but I feel he could have given more thoughts on winning.
On the other hand, Uno seemed to have gained confidence by winning the silver medal at the worlds. His musicality and ways to time his movements have improved and it enhanced his program. That was why he gained the top score in PCS component.

If I remember correctly, he always has one Ema for himself and one for the fans, which is nice

Amazing drawing! Thank you for sharing it with us. Wow, it is great!
