Curious as to how many countries we have represented here, especially since there are a lot of new people here lately. Pardon the slightly :otopic: :hijacked: Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Phillipines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, United Kingdom, USA. I'm sure I've missed a few?

こんばんは! I'm new here :3 (Took forever due to glitches with the website lol-)

I hope to learn a lot about figure skating (and figure skaters ;D) on here!

Since the show in Chicago was recent, I sadly couldn't go to it since I found out about it too late ;-; Does anyone know when Shoma will be back in America?

Hello and welcome!!! Apparently he's going back to train on August for a week? Don't know the exact dates (neither does Shoma, haha!). I'm not sure if he has a performance there though, I think he's only going to train. I'm sure other people in this forum have more information.

Kanna, I'm amazed by how popular figure skating is there! Even the fan club membership is by lottery??? That's crazy! Even though Japan would be the easiest among the competition venues for me to go to (I guess I can go to Korea for the Olympics too, but if it's also by lottery...), I did think it may be difficult to get tickets. Hmm. Maybe it would even be easier to go to the Olympics than GPF! Huh.

How is anyone supposed to keep up with this thread? Welcome Bambina and Shy Ika! Post often, post long as they say here on GS!

Thank you daphenaxa for the Shoma documentaries and Kanna for answering my questions about ice-shows in such detail! Don't think I can make it to Japan anytime soon, but if I by some miracle have the chance to go one day, I'll know who to consult first. ;) You have so many comps + great shows in Japan! I wish figure skating was as popular here. But I guess the downside of that popularity is that it's crazy difficult to obtain tickets/good seats and that it's migthy expensive to attend events! At "Art on Ice" in Switzerland I've been told by several Japanese fans they prefer to see overseas shows and competitions, because it's easier to buy tickets for them and there are travel agencies that offer arrangements including everything from flights and accomodation to show entrance and of course the obligatory banquet meet & greets with Japanese skaters. Those cost a fortune though! :drama:

Heh, I spent a little more than a month on it, but I did travel for most of that time, so it was just like... doing that when I felt like it and when I had the energy. It's not really much of an analysis, just little points on every performance (at least ones that exist on video) of LiL :)

Looking forward to read it this weekend! Btw I noticed an occupation-related parallel between us from skimming your tumblr. :)

^^^Too much beauty/handsomeness in two pictures! :p

Realized I never answered your questions about the show...

Thank you, Arriba! Don't worry, it's become easy to overlook posts and almost impossible to answer everything since Shoma's FF is moving so fast now. :)

I had to keep reminding myself to take a few pictures, because I really wanted to just stand there and watch.

I always forget to take pictures in these situations, because I'm way too distracted! :palmf:

I watched Back to the Future again, and it WAS a great movie! I couldn't help but laugh when they kept referring to Marty's Calvin Klein underwear. Reminded me of someone else we know and love! :scard8:

Yup! There is/was also the common "chicken" theme...ahem... :scard7:

Anyway, this was really a show that Glacier Ice Arena should be proud of. I'm sure they had a lot of positive feedback on it. And it really was quite a coup to have Shoma as a guest skater. He will be a tough act to follow next year!

Do they have a show every year then? If Sho keeps coming back to Glacier for training, he might take part next time again. With his rapidly increasing popularity I wonder, if the shows will be sold out and if they need extra security then.

I never retweet anyone else's photos and only tweet ones that I took. Had to make an exception for this one though, cos I just love this one of Shoma with this little girl. Both of them are so adorable! https://pic.twitter.com/7ieAT6otrC

Sugar overload! :luv17:

Also love this group photo, taken from the Glacier facebook page as well:

Found a tumblr account with amazing fan-art of Japanese skaters (+ Coach Fluffy, Yamada sensei and...um... Mikhail Kolyada) with lots of gorgeous pencil drawings, watercolor and crayon artwork of Shoma (sorry, if it was posted before):

According to some tweets Shoma did Four Seasons in Kobe, too. Jump Level went up, no combi or loop, but 4F, second half 4T and 3A.

Edit: Opening number had male/female pairings skating to Anri's Cat's Eye (Opening Song from the same named Anime) And guess who was paired off again? Marin & ShoSho....what do you want to tell us, Fantasy on Ice?

Love your take on Shoma's name! First I was delighted when I saw him referred to as "Shombae" now "ShoSho" is just as cute.

Maybe we should call him Piyo, Piyo. Honestly, what did his parents think releasing these videos to the World? Yes, they are super cute....but it's also a bit embarassing, isn't it?

ShoSho isn't my creation though, I've seen japanese fans call him that on Instagram....

And apparently Marin sat on Shoma's lap? Also he did a 4T with Yuzuru in the opening number (together? One after the other?) and wore a scarf like a choker on his neck.

According to twitter, though, this will be the show that Asahi will broadcast on Monday.

No! Say it isn't so! Did he really say August? Dang, I'm going to be out of town Aug 2-13. This is the same thing that happened last year. There's a big gap in his schedule at the end of June, beginning of July, so I was kinda hoping that would be the time. Doesn't surprise me too much tho cos I would think they're busy with choreography right now. Waaaaah! Piyo! Piyo! :sad4: :furious: :curse: :bang:

Woah, when was that?

Good that we get to see the show, according to the tweets Four Seasons has improved a lot since Makuhari, people seemed genuinely impressed.

Shoma is so busy, when does he even have time to improve?

Arriba, you too...welcome to the 3000 club! :)

 Coach Fluffy, you sneaky choreographer. Just realized when I watched Winter again that the place where everyone claps wildly is the part where the violins go crazy. So where do they have the crazy violin section (at least for now)? Right at the end, which we were saying before is unusual since they usually use it in the middle with the step sequence. So we get them clapping towards the end and hopefully they continue to clap thru the end! Ah yes, I am liking this a lot!!! :tantrum::dance:

Uwaah, my birthday is in August :0 Do you happen to know where in America? I don't know if 2 months would be enough time to plan, sadly ;-;

Yup I agree! Coach Fluffy is very smart, like I said in an earlier post ShoSho will make a statement this season with Winter!

Woah, when was that?

Which part? I think Marin sitting on his knees was for their opening number, the 4Ts were during the opening too (but they took turns doing them, not together, sorry for the confusion) and the scarf as choker I saw from this tweet. But keeping up with twitter chatter is hard, especially when you're auto-translating Japanese.

Don't take my word for it, I really don't know anything! I don't remember where I read that. I do hope you still get to see him.

Saw this in Twitter, I guess during the Chicago show. He really does have the patience of a saint. No wonder the kids love him!

Is there an ongoing campaign to ship Shoma with Marin?? It seems to have reached the Fantasy on Ice organizers! I saw a weird photoshopped picture of Marin on Shoma's lap on Twitter today. I didn't realize the one who posted was trying to depict what actually happened! What ARE they trying to do?

Ah. I'm from India, but seeing how i haven't introduced myself I totally get it.
On another note.
Hello, lots of love from India.
I'm still new here so please excuse my shyness.
I hope we all get along well.:luv17:

Awesome! You should include the India flag in your profile. I'm remembering a pair from India that competed. Was it at the Asian Winter Games? Welcome! Love that Shoma has fans all over the world! :ghug:

Edit -- I added India to my list!
