I suppose after making it through the drama that was last season, I'm a little bit more zen regarding his skating?
After all, no drama quite like Russian skating drama.

Er, maybe I should have just said it's Sabre Dance, then you'll be able to find inner peace.

Yeah, I was about to say - so you think I should stay unreconciled then?;)

True that!

For what it's worth, I think working with Ramil Mekhdiev on the choreography of Sabre Dance will bring something more to the table. Because of this, I'm still not giving up hope that it could turn out to be a good program.

As for the FS, we will have to wait and see if they keep Caruso as the music.

Yes, much as it goes against the grain with me to say anything positive about Sabre Dance, but... I do think Sasha might be able to do something with it - and maybe people & the judges might like it. It is certainly... er... energetic. I just don't like how the music goes in a repetitive hurry on its frantic way to nowhere. There is worse music, though. (And you have no idea how I hate saying this! It's quite ludicrous. Well, we all have our prejudices... ;) )

I hope they keep Caruso - ESPECIALLY if Benoit Richaud has worked on it. I hope he will be able to set his inimitable stamp on it. I'm not sure it will be able to rival Oblivion - but then that is a very high bar to set - but I hope it will be something in that vein.

Another problem with SD, other than what you said which I completely agree with, is that it shows a lack of effort to search for appropriate music for this skater. I mean, if you're going to simply pick music done by previous Mishin skaters to give to Sasha, at least choose one of the better pieces. Oh well. It is what it is.

I must try to stay more positive.

I hope it is a whole program that they are working on and not just completing a raw unfinished program. Generally I'm not a fan of the approach of getting one person to do the basic structure (like Sasha's Sinatra FS last season and his SP this season) and asking another person to fill in the blanks and complete the program.

Of course that would be preferable - but for me, "something is better than nothing" at this point.

Ermolina has an interview with Mishin on the fsrussia.ru website. He was asked about his skaters and what he said about Sasha is the same as in previous interviews in the past (word for word even), about him being consistent and showing what he can. The rest of the interview is unrelated but if you want to read about the other skaters in his group, you can check out the website.

Adam Solya dropped by Tartu for a couple days to do some choreo. He made no mention of working on Sasha's program, only Tuktik and Semenenko.

And so my hope for a Benoit Richaud program still lives on...
