Just wanted to post that as well... Well, the program definitely gets better, so much improvement here in comparison with earlier versions. I am only a bit worried now about the quadruple jumps, particularly the flip.

You sound like me with wanting Sho to always do great. But for me, it's not so much the jumps, I want perfect spins, just because I know he is capable of doing exactly that. Today if I remember right, the final spin got messy. But heck, even Nathan blew his 3-3 combo! Ha! It's a great opportunity though for them to get the timing of things so that by the time the Grand Prix season comes, they've already resolved a lot of difficulties and are WAY ahead of skaters from other countries. And I agree with Mai Katze that it is a bit of a rest time for them. The camaraderie seems great too..I have noticed something going on with the 4F. I think he's trying to clean up his technique with it and is struggling a bit with it, which wouldn't be surprising. Only my guess tho. I could be wrong.

But what a program -- love the running steps, the little hop-turns, the spin where he is holding his blade and he lowers the blade, the cool pause where he faces the audience, the nuances, the passion, the intensity, the fingers, :points: :hb: Ok that's enough -- I LOVE IT! And we probably still haven't seen the for-real costume.

Anyway, we know he will survive the off-season, but will we?!

I like the first spin best, where he changes position in time to the music very nicely... but boy has to stop travelling in his spins so much, lol. I really like this sp. His choreographer seems to know how to get the most from him. Looks good in July.... in the fall it will be oodles better.

So Shoma wore the same shirt he wore last year, which means he didn't grow or buffed up at all...except for the thighs (I don't know how you can keep his faces apart, honestly...or did you see this pic last year?) These Instagram people keep confusing me with the pics, haha.

I think we need a face progression video! :laugh2: I was watching his 2015 FS from Skate Am which was the first time I ever heard of him/saw him. My gosh, it barely looks like him. No mighty thighs but still the small upper body. Seems strange to me if the Hilfiger still fits him! When we saw him at Glacier recently, my friend ( who doesn't really follow him) said, "Wait! He got bigger since we saw him at Christmas!" Has to be more muscle mass and not height though, cos in that variety show he still says he's 159 cm.

Thank you ! It's not just my imagination. Can't wait to see him at Skate Canada. Only 108 days. :gaah:

eta -- sorry for the multiple posts right in a row. I got really excited about Winter.:ddevil:

I remember seeing his debut Winter SP and thinking at the time, oh he's just skating through it. I know that he was only trying to familiarize himself with the music to start.

Now with his latest performance, his attention to details such as upper body movement and spins have me completely sold. It's truly remarkable how he moves across the ice with such ferocity and elegance at the same time!

His talent seems to lie in the ability to make immense improvements over short periods of time, but we all know this comes from hard work and diligence!
When he participated in two smaller competitions between 4CC and Worlds, I questioned his team's decision, worried he would tire himself out. But in the end, everything worked out! He delivered two clean programs and made new personal bests. Most importantly, he was happy with his results and was finally able to move on from the disappointment he felt at Worlds 2016. Right now, I think he is using the many ice shows over the summer to sharpen his artistry first and foremost.

Shoma continues to grow on me, and he is quickly rising to the top of my favourites list. At the very least, he deserves to medal at the Olympics, if not win gold.

Finally managed to watch Shoma's Winter at DOI and he had a new variation on his first spin after the half Biellman! He lowered his leg slowly, blade still caught, while spinning. I LOVED it! Keep this, Shoma!

Just to let you know that I have updated the Original Post.

Rather than having a separte section for videos, mikaboo had the links integrated into the Competitive History table. So I have kept it that way. The drawback to this is that it seems that the colour commands in vBulleting do not work on hyperlinks. So, although I have set the writing in the coloured cells to be white, the links are still appearing blue. Which makes the Season's Best scores hard to read against the blue backgound.

But, the data is still there, which is the important thing.

Hope you like it.

He landed 4F.

The shirt he wore at Dream on Ice looks similar to, but different from the one at Friend on Ice.

Thanks for sharing....but Glacier, is that so clever to tell everyone Shoma is coming? And booh...isn't that Arriba's vacation time? *sniff*

^^^Called this morning to see if I could find out specific dates for the August training, but they couldn't tell me yet. After apologizing for being such a pest :palmf:, I told them it was quite a coup to get Shoma for their show. They never asked him, he offered to do it! Yes, he is a really good guy...So he has The Ice in Nagoya from Aug. 4-6. Even if he comes here pretty quickly, probably the soonest he is at the rink is Aug. 8 or 9. I'm gone Aug. 2-13 so would hopefully still get to see him a few times. Of course, this is still just speculation on his dates.

I never thought of the Chicago area as being a hot bed of activity for skating, but I don't know! I was going thru some old You Tubes, and there was Denis Ten skating at Glacier! It was right before 2015 Skate America which was held in Milwaukee (about 50 miles from Glacier)...Too bad Jason's team moved from Chicago to Colorado.

I wasn't quite sure what that blade-holding spin was called. Is it a Biellman? a catch-foot spin? Whatever it is, I love it! :dance3:
