Nathan Chen

Just watched the videos and isn't this the music Kevin Aymoz used this past season? I really like the look of the program so far, I'm very excited to see it all put together, it seems like a really interesting and different style.

Yeah, for his FS. Also Florent Amodio used it the year before.

In other news, in a not so surprising result, Nathan wins the Skating Magazine Readers' Choice Award.

I wonder if he will also be doing Golden West this year or if that will be his first comp.

I don't know. I'm curious because I thought it would be a bit close since it will be held two weeks before US Classic.
At least, he competed in Finlandia a month after Golden West last year.
But we'll see in weeks' time whether he'll compete or not. :)

I wouldn't think the scheduling to be a problem, with Golden West essentially in his back yard. It would be different if it involved traveling a long distance. I'm sure others from Raf's group will be there, as well as some from Tammy's group. He could even water down his LP if necessary.

Fun stuff:

1. In a message to his JP Twitter fans Nathan explains why he chose "Parachute" for his EX, and that he himself changed up the choreography for his DOI performances.

I think this really shows how Nathan has really good performing instincts because the newer version was so well received.

2. Over on the JP Facebook page he claims to have NOT been the one to choose "Nemesis" for his SP, but that he does love the song. No word on who did choose the song.

3. There's some speculation that Nathan's short Instagram recital was inspired by one of his fans:

That same fan later demonstrates some impressive keyboard skills:

Thanks for all those links! Definitely wondering how Nemesis came to fruition but I'm happy it did. :) I can't wait to see it in it's entirety. I'm also getting impatient in wondering what his long program will be! I hope we will get some news soon. :)

I kinda thought that was the case. There's some pictures of him on IG back in June training at the rink that I know she works out of. But there was never a picture of her with him or any news beyond the pictures I saw. Thanks for bringing that over here! :)

I wish they could have talked about what the music choice is!!!

Nathan must be either training or working on programs or something with someone who's at Nam Nguyen's rink because Nathan showed up on Nam's snapchat story today. :) (I was just clicking through my feed and was like oh wait, what's Nathan doing!) It was just one video snap of Nathan, Nam and Roman and then a picture of them.

Is Nathan in Toronto for choreography? Since he is in the same rink as Zijun, I'm guessing the choreographer is Lori Nichol.

Way to go @sherlock trollmes @gsyzf!! Is there anything can escape the searching of fans' eyes?? I am surprised it didn't get confirmed till now :)

Ha!! I didn't know she worked there then, @gsyzf wins this one!! :) I think there was some thought that he was just there getting boots also - so nobody really knew for sure.

How does the Japanese media always get Nathan news we don't even hear in English? (not that it's a bad thing of course!)

Because Japan is obsessed with figure skaters, Nathan is a top level figure skater, and the US could care less until about a month before the OG. That could change if he starts his own period of domination.

That's true. But i was wondering how they would be able to find out about Nathan's LP since he seems to have been intentionally keeping it on the down low.

Not a lot of news lately. Champs Camp is this weekend, so maybe we'll hear an official program announcement soon? Wonder when we will find out who's entered in Golden West.

In the meantime more fun stuff from the interwebs:

At the recent Philly comp Tim Dolensky was asked by his Japanese Fan Club (Yes, even Tim D has one!) how many boots he goes thru in a year. (Answer: 2) When Nathan's situation was brought up he commented, "Haha. That's because he's a boot destroyer!"

Adam Rippon is currently featured in a USFS video to promote local skating clubs. Nathan's fans, of course, know how to cut to the "important" parts.

Figure SkatingTV, a popular Japanese figure skating news/gossip channel on YT, has come out with their list of the top 10 best looking men in figure skating. See if you can guess where Nathan ranks.

Tim and Adam are nice guys, hope Nathan is friend with both of them!

These jewelries are beautiful, what a talented artist! The inspiration though is a bit too literal, can Nathan claim part of the royalty if they are for sale? Then again these are clothing lines from Adidas and other brands.. Haha :) :)
