Daria Panenkova wasn't perfect, but she managed to win Riga JGP 2017 with the total score 185.80.

She never fell before on competitions. But she will be fine, she won, everythinng will be ok )
Btw, Med now is the most consistent Eteri's girl again...

Alisa has the worse possible cut of La La Land. I actually like the soundtrack, and the music style fits her, but the choice and arrangement of music are terrible. Her struggle continues.
Daria always looks like she's gonna cry. Her jumps don't look as good as before, and in the LP, you can see she forgot her choreography at some points, or tried to do some arm movement but realized she didn't have time. The rhythm of the song is hard for anyone to skate, with lots of void in between. Not a good choice of music. I'd say Daria is the weakest of Eteri's student so far.
Overall, this JGP competition is not as enjoyable as the first two.

It's her first JGP. She popped her 3S in the combo, fell on 3lo. After this she didn't care about movements or smiles because she was very nervous. It was very obvious. And what about Tarakanova? I thought you said she is the least talented.

Agree. Daria's jumps were more secure last year. I noticed a decline in the quality of her jumps, in addition to consistency.
This season Eteri's skaters are doing an internal competition.
It's not even the russian ladies anymore (since the rest aren't doing all that great so far)
It's an issue of the backloaded FS: it doesn't leave you the time to breath and refocus, you have two minutes to do land 7 triples and two spins, and yes the music didn't help her.
But still gold medalist and deserved.

Was there a noticable decline over the year or was it just this JGP? It was her first. Nerves can do a lot to hamper the technique, and she seemed to be of the more nervous kind to me.

in SP her jumps were pretty secure and good quality.

Third JGP is over (for ladies and pairs). And finally a break for two weeks! *phew*
Two skaters (except Alenka) who didn't skate yet: Stasya and Sonya.
For three girls just only five spots. It means someone should move. It probably could be Sonya (i wish she competed in Latvia instead of Alisa). Sigh. RusFed could decide to replace Sonya to Darya: just to make sure she and Nastya (both have 1st places) will go to the final. First and second places for each girl will be enough. But there will be other strong skaters. So it would be a tough challenge in Zagreb anyway. Or it could be even Gulyakova. But it won't be smart, considering her scores.
Also, if Stasya won't win stage in Minsk, then Sonya will compete anyway (or Gulyakova). But will it be Zagreb or Gdansk it's not clear.
So potentially:
Trusova, Tarakanova, Panenkova, (Konstantinova), Kostornaya.
Still I have doubts about Konstantinova. Prove I'm wrong, Stasya!
But for now JGPF looks like this:

Gulyakova will likely get the second spot since she skated clean in Brisbane, she does have good chances to qualify for the finals and she looked way more solid than Stasya last year.
Also she does have the 3A that may or may not be included in the next event.
I think Stasya or even Samodurova could spoil her second spot only by winning their first event, or with a silver medal and a total score higher than 181.43
Agree. She even can replace Sonya. But look at her score. She was clean in Brisbane as you said. And look at Rika's score. With two mistakes in the short program and one fall in the free program, she got just one point less than Nastya Gulyakova.

Scores tends to be higher in later events, in Brisbane judges were very strict, i hope RusFed will keep it in mind.
For example despite both Tarakanova and Panenkova have an higher score for the short program than Trusova, i'm pretty sure at JGPF head to head judges would probably place Trusova ahead of these two.
