Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Watching the new video of SEIMEI 2, I remembered something in BB mook so I translated only that part. (page 20)

At 15:21. The sound of the flute "Peewee~" surrounded the rink. The journalists brought their bodies forward to the intro of "SEIMEI" which had been played after the interval of two seasons. While Hanyu had checked the part of transitions, he also spent all the time in image training without a jump. In that scene, he had the movement likely to be 4Lz. The journalists buzzed "あるな、これ”(something like "he looks like he's going to do it"),"He might do it in the second practice session."

Can't believe the word 4A appeared very casually like 'ah yes the usual 4-something jump.'

I'm happy to know that from all the interviews so far, Yuzuru Team looks comfortable while challenging many things at the same time. They are very sure. Most importantly, Yuzuru looks like he's having the time of his life. The skating skill workshop with Ann Schelter, the thing with other skaters trying out hydroblading and Yuzuru happily helping them out--so good.

"Especially for this season, he understands very well the importance of resting and recovery. Most skaters feel guilty about rest. Javier’s probably different."

We all know how hard-working Yuzuru is, but I don't like how romanticized overworking in our society is. I wish most skaters don't need to feel guilty about resting. Glad that Yuzuru is balancing everything well. Glad that Orser and Tracy are slowly drilling the idea of resting into Yuzuru's brain, it must be actually tough for them to convince Yuzuru especially since LGC.

The Seimei run through--my jaw dropped at the mini spiral. And the half-assed hand gestures he made were cute!

Fanart of the mini spiral! https://twitter.com/wahuwahuwahuko/status/906700308922875904

It gives me hope that he'll stay a few more seasons to tryout his new toys, er, jumps.
