Just caught up this after Men's event. LOL 80!!! ISU you finally did it!! 10 points inflation.
Oh boy they have really dumped on Elena didn't they, out with the old - in comes the new (Alina). Her scores (like Liza, Julia, Alena before etc.) goes up up then down down down over the years when a newer younger Russian comes along, are as volatile as cryptocurrency exchange, while the Russian scoring are as inflated as some of these bitcoins, pretty nuts.
Having said that, this is actually a vanilla generic program from Evegenia I can live with. For starters, it is already an improvement on all previous exploitation of some historical tragedy like the holocaust or 9/11 for the sake of emotional blackmail, unless you can count on the inherent sadness described in the music in itself.
Of course, there's the usual skate through the music and transitions for transition's sake chronic issues, but at least it is encouraging to see Evegenia wanting to improve and paying greater attention to the music. She satisfies the continuous flow of the music, hit some nice positions but need to hold them longer for the eloquent pause between the phrasing, and to make each phrase distinguishable not all at similar speed. Several emotional highs, just missed the mark to convey sadness, haunting and soft lyricism and sensitivity the music requires. My usual eye rolling will just reserve for the start and finish 2x 5 seconds, electronic heartbeat hokum with some whispering woman halfway through... can't take Ilia gimmicks out of the Averbukh program. He probably thinks it is genius, I just find them eyeball rolling distraction and pretentious pap.
It may be nitpicking, but her use of arms and upper body still bothers me. For better use the arms, carriage, and upper body movements in relation to the music should look to her teammate Maria A's version

or consider Yuna/Mao/Carolina or Marin for finesse and control, or even Patrick, Hanyu and Nathen and generally, the US men are pretty good. I find her arms often clumsy and frantic that does not respond to the stillness the music sometimes demands. Calmness, introspection, turmoil, solemness, and solitude, not frantic driven flow.
With some polishes and greater maturity (+ better Cameraman!!), this can be a decent ladies program. Her program is already better than Wakaba or Alina's SP judging from the recent Lombardia, so deserve to be higher. But perhaps Lombardia's crazy 74 winning scores means judges are encouraged here to get even carried away to ensure this come on top. I thought no one should have got over 68 there, so I would have marked this around 69, 70. Hence 10 points inflation.
