Yulia Lipnitskaya

At risk of repeating a post ( I may have posted this before eons ago), Yulia may be an "outgoing introvert" personality like so many of us... (me included..). We value our "alone" time and our privacy, but enjoy being in the world, especially with close friends and activities that we find meaningful and are passionate about. My feeling is that Yulia was trained as a skater so young, before she really could make the choice herself on her own terms which may explain her seeming ambivlance regarding some parts of the sport. What she does next will be of her own chosing and it will be a passionate choice, no doubt giving it everything she's got.. she is on the threshold of a new dream.

Feel free to repeat this beautiful post as often as you wish.

Ilia Averbukh: "Her decision is very honest, it shows Yulia's direct character. This gives me great respect. It is also necessary to always draw the line. She did it most beautifully."

I'm a little shocked that he came out with this considering he's spent the last couple years bashing her. Perhaps he's hoping to get her in his shows or maybe he's seen the light that she's had every opportunity in the world to throw some people under the bus and has not...

I think many overlooked how amazing of a program Romeo and Juliet was in terms of choreography. She performed really well at TEB that season in spite of a few jumping errors.

Here are my favorite moments of a program that always stuck with me.

I'm glad Ilya came out in support of her. They did a lot together!

I think the same. He knows that she has a lot of fans and they would love to see her on shows. He's a hypocrite and his earlier comment about her retirement was very rude https://sport.mail.ru/news/figure-skating/30823097/

I think the programs that he did for her were good - it's just per my earlier post, I'm surprised that after spending the last couple of years bashing her that now he's come out praising her. But maybe this means the criticizing her to the media that's come from that part of her skating career is done.

Totally agree...he's still on my SL!! Good on him though.

That's rich coming from a man who has pretty much built his entire career out of exploiting other people's tragedies.

I can't say what I really think of him because it would get me banned not only from here, but from the entire internet as well. About the kindest thing I can say about him is that he is the epitome of a very specific kind of evil. Yes. Evil.

Does anyone know any articles where Ilia talks badly about Yulia? I've been looking but I can't find any. I know he did, I remember it, but I don't remember what he said...

Also, Yulia has been liking LOTS of supportive comments on her instagram photos :) it makes me so happy that she realizes and appreciates the support

Plushenko contacted with Yulia and she told him she finished skating at all and this concerns both competitions and performances in the show https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20170923/1126156385.html

He also mentioned that she needs a pause (it's not clear if it's his words or he's retelling her words ). So I still hope that in some time Yulia would feel like skating in shows, when she's had a good rest both physically and psychologically...
