2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Daria won her event. And she was clean before

I guess atsumiri meant that Daria would have bigger score with clean skate (and yes it is, it will be around 126-128 points) and could fight with clean Stasya. But as I said, RusFed is unpredictable.

Clean Stasya will score big. Her pcs is the highest among the juniors. The issue is she never had 2 clean skates so far. It's like Gracie 2 seasons ago.

The only logical reason to choose Stasya could be the fact that Gulyakova has the 3A and she can include it in the long program eventually so the Fed might support her more than others, and in that case with Gulyakova locking the second spot at JGP Egna, Kostornaya wouldn't have the chance to qualify but Stasya could with the second spot.

alena is slow:laugh:
looks like "she is slow" becames a standard insult to russian skaters, that people just throwing in when they don't know what to criticize.
and alena is slow and boring already. i guess she's also not artistic and her skating skills is bad too:laugh:

you can be sure.. as I said not once skating skills is "magic word" if the fs fans want to criticize a skater who seems really good but they don't like him/her.

Alena's skating skills, speed and presentation are one of the best among all Russian ladies (even seniors). Such mesmerizing and charming skating I saw only from Anna Scherbakova. Alena's lutz is not so high, but her 3T in the combo after lutz, is amazing! Also her axel is almost a textbook jump. So easy, solid and nice. Just joy to watch. It's not Eteri's technique and it's very good. The same with spins.

Alena is a real diamond, and it's total ignorance to not see this.

It seems we are in 'team' Alena. I think she deserves a chance to compete at least at one JGP event. I wonder if she's consistent, though.

Funny comparison (someone on sports.ru shared their associations):

Simply put, Samodurova is like a Daewoo with the grandmother at the steering wheel, which slowly passed from point A to point B. And Tarakanova is like a Porsche driven by a street racer, which crashed on the first turn, and up to the end struggled with control.

What can i add to that? :) well, in russia we say "the quieter you go, the further you'll get" (slow and steady wins the race)

There is a saying in the Pennsylvania Dutch area "The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get." "Pennsylvania Dutch" is a dialect of German that was incorrectly called "Dutch" when the speakers first immigrated to the US. (US English speakers heard "Deutsch," which, of course means German in the German language, and thought the speakers were saying Dutch.) Many Germans came to the US state of Pennsylvania in the 17th and 18th century for its fertile farmlands. The saying I quoted earlier is sort of a garbled half "Pennsylvania Dutch" half English saying. There are others of those types of sayings heard in the area. It pretty much means the faster I go, the more behind I get. It's neat to see the Russian version of that saying.

I'm patiently waiting for the next seASon. :agree:

And I should end to watch figure skating... At JGP Minsk I had a feeling that Sasha will fall at 4S - and it happend. The same feelings were today, I thought Nastya will fall - and it happend... :(

About Sonya... I almost cried with her in the KnC... :sad4: She is so light and pure person... I'm very happy for her...

i have a feeling that Dasha will be clean in both programs in Poland :)

Tarakanova is frantic. She is no Porsche, more like a drunk driver.
Samodurova is a great skater. The season before last the two junior ladies I thought had great potential were Samodurova and Zagitova. She had great programs (last season's programs were not good). I don't understand however why Mishin's ladies are not trying to milk points. She can at least put the second and third single jumps in the second half of the free?

Me too. She's a fighter and a strong technician, and she wants to prove herself to all the haters out there. I don't envy the RusFed trying to pick that last spot for Egna...
