2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

interesting fact: in previous 5 years, JGPF has been won by the girl who medaled at first JGP event:
2012-2013 Elena Radionova
2013-2014 Maria Sotskova
2014-2015 Evgenia Medvedeva
2015-2016 Polina Tsurskaya
2016-2017 Alina Zagitova

2017-2018 Alexandra Trusova? :)

If she will land 4S<. I can't see her landing clean 4S yet. You saw her score at JGP Belarus with fall on 4S<< - 126.6 points. For example, clean Tarakanova with combo at the first half of the program got 130 points. Clean Panenkova will get about 126-128 points. The last question about clean Kostornaya.

What does 4S< mean? An underrotated 4 Salchow? And if, what is a 4S<<? I'm just new to this signs (e,!,<,etc.). Can someone explain to me? And does that mean, Trusova has never landed a rully rotated 4 Salchow before? Thanks in advance!! :)

< - underrotation on the jump
<< - downgraded jump, i. e. 3S
e - wrong edge
! - unclear edge

She jumped this jump only two times at competitions. First time it was 4S<, in the second time 4S<< (3S) with fall. Her time will come, but for now I don't see how she can do this jump clean (fully-rotated).

In Novogorsk she jumped it fully-rotated (several times) as TAT said. in competition, it's always harder. Give her a time.
I believe in this girl. She can do it)

I'm curious too, what does +COMBO and the V on spins mean? thanks!
I believe V means the skater didn't hit a requirement on a spin such as on a combo spin hitting all 3 basic positions. +combo means the skater didn't add a combo onto a jump that needed a combination. Ex: a junior Short where the skater does 3Lz and 3F3T combo, falls on the flip and it will become 3F+COMBO

@jFarrisFan and how do the judges know, which Jump the skater was planning to connect? Assume they that it is automatically the last, if there was no connection before that? happening?

They won't attach a jump to it they just write the first jump and add +COMBO. They will only add it to a jump that is required to have a combination. (Since 3Lz is required solo jump in short and the axel type jump must be by itself, the other jump must have the combo so if they fall/step out and they aren't able to attach a combo, they add +Combo.) the value of the jump is unchanged but will get -3 automatically in the short if no combo is executed. Ex: 3F stepout without a combo jump will get the value 3F+COMBO 5.3 -2.10 goe.

But how do they know, on which jump the skater planned to do a combo? I get that for SP now, thanks to your explanation :) but let's say, the skater did 6 jumps in a LP (no Lz no Axel) and stepped out of it 6 times with no connections, on which jump they will attach +COMBO?

Any jump that was repeated would have to be done in combination, so usually the second instance of that solo jump. The first time, you have the option of doing it in combination or not. The second time, you have to do it in combination unless you didn't the first time.

How is Tuk looking this year? Is she popular with Russian Fans? It seems like yesterday that she and Elena Radionova were the darlings of Russian figure skating and now.....I don't really hear much about either of them.
