2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

How is Tuk looking this year? Is she popular with Russian Fans? It seems like yesterday that she and Elena Radionova were the darlings of Russian figure skating and now.....I don't really hear much about either of them.

The JGP is in full swing at the moment; maybe there will be more talk about senior ladies once it wraps up.

Stephane Lambiel on Evgenia (from this article http://ujszo.com/online/sport/2017/0...as-legyen-szep, as reported by @plushyfan in a different thread)

"Here in Bratislava Evgenia's short program completely enchanted me. Even though she is the strongest female skater today, I can see how fragile she is, and it touches me. She skates beautifully. Her jumps are great as well, but she does create something special on the ice. I hope we can enjoy her skating for a long time."
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I am a little confused. Is Nocturne originally about clinical death, and therefore the need to clarify that her program is not like that? Does the music have any inherent meaning at all in itself? I love Evgenia and Eter's girls but I do think the add whatever meaning to whatever music you skate to is a little bit of stretch, like Polina's Light of Seven program was about an artist not liking her painting and then overcome something

Evgenia Medvedeva: "My short program is about purity of the soul, not about clinical death"

Tuk had a successful test skate and got two spots on GP. In Lombardia she had some issues on her jumps and didn't end up on the podium (I think she was 5th). She will be competing at Finlandia Trophy. Her jumps have good form this year (till now at least)
Rad competed at Ondrej Nepala Tropha and got third behind Med and Rika Hongo (I think?)

At first she said it to the sport.ru journalists.

She also asked them not to write "clinical death" in the title, because it's all about purity of the soul, not about clinical death. But they made an article with that title, so she had to comment on it.

Poor Alina SOLOVYEVA. :( She has good qualities in her skating, but I've never seen from her a clean performance.

And this stream is so ugly, it's like cameras from the nineties. Just horrible.

Btw, sorry (not so sorry) for giving Alyona and Daria 1st and 2nd places before official end of junior ladies SP :laugh:
