Is there any news about S/S?:luv17: I haven't read a single official comment about them, about why they skipped the second JGP event...
Morozov a good fit for S/S, you mean? Hope not..... if they wanna change the coaching team, maybe they can try Krylova?

No, I meant Stepanova/Bukin. I hope Shpilevaya/Smirnov are ok, it`s their last junior season and I would like to see them on the Junior World podium, together with my other faves Skoptcova/Aleshin.

True. I also don't like that second lift. Too complicated and un-GOE-friendly.

This lift is 78 shades of wrong and unecessarily dangerous.

I'll keep saying this a hundred times : they're excellent skaters, but their programms lack big time. They won't get rewarded because of that.
I hope they'll qualify for the Olympics though because I'll be so disappointed.
I actually think that with the right vehicles they can enter the top 5 as of next quad.

Dubreuil costs money. The Russian fed needs to pay Tutberidze a salary. They need to pay all the Russian single skaters a salary. There isn’t any money to let be in North America.

If you are so obsessed with dancers training with Dubreuil, why don’t you post your bank account number right here and the right people can forward it to Bukin. I’m sure that will be enough to pay for their training.

Almost every single ice dance team trains in North America. How about cut down on the amount of ice dance teams being paid and send three to North America to be trained by dubreil or any of the others. I will give money to gofundme. You don’t have to worry about me not helping Russians pay for dubrel! But it’s not so expensive almost every other team in the world trains in North America.

Svinin: No changes in Stepanova/Bukin's dances. The dances are 'approved' by specialists.

The specialists are clueless and are destroying Russian ice dance. Since Sochi these specialists have meant no world medals no gpf medals and no euro titles. They are the worst and all need to be fired and replaced with North Americans or people trained by North Americans or Fusar poli.

.

They already have cut down. And how’s the ruble doing these days?

The worst is over with the ruble. The recovery has been very impressive. There is enough money to pay for top level dance coaching. They need a better use of the resources they are allocating! If you aren’t sending ice dance teams to North America or Milan you are not serious about ice dance at all. Every program in the world knows this.

It’s 58’rubles to a dollar and still nowhere near where it was in 2014. And every sport has had its funding cut after Sochi.
Russia had cut the funding for the dance team for the top 3 teams while keeping the funding for singles the same.

At this point, I wonder how much money it would be needed for any russian team to have the best training in Montreal, with the top 3 of the SD at last Worlds training there. Then we have Igor and Marina, each with one of the top american teams, and others teams too. Realistically speaking, Nikita is not going back to the US again, B/S hardly will leave Russia at this point, and S/B would be the best bet, but there could be a chance of them falling to wayside like lots of other teams that don't have the same backing in Montreal, and let's be real, raw talent too. Any other team would need a special grant from the fed to go there, and I don't know if they'd be willing to do that, especially with the most prominent voices of skating in Russia not really advocating for it.

S/B's program is pretty horrid.
They should consider sending Popova/Mozgov to Zueva. They could use some corporate-style polishing.

Other countries with those kinds of conversion rates send their ice dance teams to North America. I don’t believe it’s a money issue it’s a stubbornness issue about not admitting its dance program is totally incompetent on every level now.

As I have indicated almost All european teams from every country at every talent level train In North America. Only Russia can’t do it? I don’t buy it.

The whole ice dance program is dying and why the people would prefer to have the program die rather than send a team to dubreil or even Fusar poli. It’s not dubreil or nothing she’s just the best. This should be unacceptable to the dance teams. It seems from comments from the skaters they do expect a high level of success. They are certainly resentful comments sometimes. If there isn’t this resignation to fail there should be investment to succeed by sending the skaters to coaches that mean success.

That’s not true that almost all Europeans couples are in north America. What about Fusar-Poli? She doesn’t coach in north america and she has many European couples.

Random.

Popova & Mozgov are not a Marina-type team. (Krylova & Camerlengo would be OK, but P&M seem to be making good strides where they are).

Stepanova & Bukin are not a Dubreil & Lauzon-type team. The whole problem with their FD this season is that they have been given a Dubreil & Lauzon-type program.

Peter, how could you? If Nikita & his fizzled twizzles get to go to the Olympics because of this, I am going to be very cranky. I still like S&B's SD. The middle still needs improvement. But the beginning is even better than it was, and at least this team hits the strong notes. Far too many teams this season are ignoring them altogether and trying to skate to the melody without the rhythm.

what do you mean? Peter choreographed that horrible Liebestraum program?

Did he not? He is the only choreographer I heard referenced for them this summer, but there are two choreographers listed on their ISU site profile for this season. If he didn't do the free, I apologize profusely. The style doesn't suit S&B. It's very Hawayek & Baker/Shpilevaya & Smirnov. And not at all the intense/fun/youthful/dynamic/strong-male-lead team that rocked the SD last season. (Beauty & the Beast would have been so perfect. Ivan would have had a character. She would have fit the role. They could have had a variety of tempos. And you can only be young and right for a story like that for so long. I wish the FS-gossips hypothesis had been correct).

He did  I also know the same.

Look, Ilinykh and Zhiganshin went to the US and where did it end? Nowhere. Same with Sinitsina and Katsalapov. But these two at least still skating together. :slink: What's about good 'North American' Russian coaches?
