2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Why is Tarakanova participating? :scratch2:
She got her spot in Nationals by advancing to the JGPF.
why not?
Last season Alina participated in two stages of the Russian Cup too.
Trusova will be in the 3rd stage of the Russian Cup.

Exactly. Two months before the JGPF. They all need practice. Two JGP stages - it's not enough.

So, so happy Gubanova skated another clean program! I think Junior Worlds will be too packed this year for her to get a spot, but I can definitely see the Fed assigning her two JGPs next year if she continues to do a good job.

But aren't they taking the placement points away from other skaters needing them to advance to Nationals?
For example, there were no JGP participants at 1st stage in Syzran - Kurakova, Nugumanova and Sinitsina took medals and top points.
If they had to face Tarakanova or Trusova as the girls in Yoshkar-Ola now, they quite possibly would have gotten less points, thus reduce their chances for Junior Nats. It's kinda unfair and if I were a coach I'd basically keep my skater away from the stages with JGP girls, right? :confused2:

Irina Rodnina: "Medvedeva always has fire in the eyes, Lipnitskaya never had it, even in Sochi-2014"

I hate it when grown up people and media keep comparing those two skaters. I don't see any good in that. Yulia had a totally different temperament and no one could see what she felt inside.

Rodnina needs to think twice before she speaks.

Well, Alena looked nervous and tired. She overrotated her 3T, landing on 2A was bad. But still very solid skate.

I thought Gubanova has huge potential. Liked the dress color. She needs of course more maturity and work on her lines. Also h er jumps don't have the amplitude of some of the senior skaters like Osmond, Daleman, Wagner and Kostner when on.

I am really curious/nervous about Anna Pogo - I wonder if it is just injury or Gracie syndrome after the disasterous world championships. Has she ever really recovered? This year I h oped to see Radinova and Liza T get it together but it doesn't look good - they need to come out with fire, vim and vigour and revitalized and they really don't look good at all. We talk about the depth of Russia but seeing the Japanese ladies scores at the Japan Open I am not so sure Russia is that far ahead. Med appears to be not backloading as much. Maria S not my favorite skater looks to be no. 3 in Russia behind Evgenia and Alina. Really Anna needs to bring it because the door is o pen for her if she really wants it. She has more fire and passion and style than Maria. Now she needs to hold it together.

And again, you're forgetting Polina T. She will compete very soon. Then will see what's going on now. What about these two amazing and beautiful ladies - to start, they need to work on the spins, at least. Their spins are really bad. They already lose about 3-4 points in GOE and levels on that. And we're not even starting to talk about the jumps.

Great skate by Sofia today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zw5e8tWNLIc (66.67 points)

She looked slow during the step sequence, but overall very nice skate from her. I'm glad she landed that 3-3 combo. And congratulations with a new PB in the short program.

Amazing young lady! I don't even like the music, but she sells it so well with her singing and dancing. She looks like she's having fun. A great performance! :yes2:

Alena too close to others in PCS. There is at least 2-3 point gap there...
and their TR scores are ridiculous...
:disapp:
But I was expected something like this.... no surprise.

ridiculous no, i think the scores should have been close anyway: maybe 69 again for Kostornaya and 67 for Rika.

Let's see in the FS: Rika has the 3A, but Alena looks more consistent than her.
