2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

It ms that Daniil and Sergei don't go to minor competitions.
But Daniil went to Sochi, so I don't understand why he didn't stayed with the boys, too (and with Sergei Rozanov)

Daniil was with Alexey Erokhov last week

I think they have too many students to go to every single competition all of them.

I don't get all these comments about who is going with who.... I think the coaching team knows better how to divide the competitions between them in order for the skaters to feel comfortable.

And also their team has TONS of top skaters, which means there are not only many competitions to attend, but also many skaters back home who need to get ready for important competitions back home, and may also need the presence of a coach there.

Yes though it's not for everyone. Some skater wants their main coach always with them.

When Julia moved to Urmanov, she said that she wasn't okay with the fact that she barely saw Eteri in her last months at Sambo70 because she was always with other skaters.

If I were Eteri I’d always want to know what trouble TAZakanova was up to :dance2::devil:

Well, considering Eteri's team... It would be actually hilarious if ALL of the Eteri's top skaters wanted her with them all time.
To start with, she would have to attend a senior GP almost every week. Meanwhile, the other skaters would cry at home. And then she has some top juniors too, who she cannot neglect either. And blablabla.

Since most of her skaters are at home training, i can totally see her NOT going to competitions unless it is really close to Moscow in order to spend more time with the skaters.

I think that the head coach being with a skater at competition has to do with status on that coach's team. It would be very strange to see Evgenia without Eteri, who has been by her side ever since her senior debut (I don't know how frequently Eteri went to her junior competitions though). I noticed Eteri was absent for some (or all) JGP events - they are less important. It was very surprising to see Alina without Eteri at Lombardia, especially since they were in Europe. Eteri did go to Ondrej Nepala with Evgenia though - but that was closer to Moscow than Lombardia (I think - I don't have a map in front of me).

I assume she is with Alina for CoC.

Eteri has a LOT of work to do for the JGPF. I think I have read that BOrser focuses on being with whoever is about to skate, which means that when Javier or Yuzu finishes skating, another coach (usually Tracy) will be in the K&C if Brian is still with one of them who hasn't skated yet. I wonder if Eteri will do the same? Though some of her juniors might feel more comfortable with another coach putting them on the ice, since that's what they are used to.

Yulia didn't get attention from Eteri in her last months because Yulia wasn't top dog anymore. I'm sure it's difficult for coaches to balance their top students with their struggling students, just as it's difficult for students (especially ones who used to be at the top) to psychologically deal with feeling neglected.

(Tangentially - Marie-France was with V/M at Canadian Nationals last year, while Patrice was with H/D at US Nationals. It's totally a status thing. I think if Marie-France wants H/D to pass Shibs and C/B this year, she needs to go with them to Nationals. It makes a statement. Perception matters.)

offtopic on soft knees:
I just seen a quote from Mishin's book - Mishin says that, on a proper landing, the knee angle should be 95-110 degrees.

I don't think so, considering both Daniil and Sergei are there.

Also Daniil followed all her competitions last season including Junior Worlds so she might be used to have him instead of Eteri, idk.

and yes Bratislava is closer to Moscow than Bergamo ;)

She did the same 3 years ago at JGPF when she had Evgenia Medvedeva and Serafima Sakhanovich right after.

This year honestly i don't know, at Jr Nationals she was with all of them in the KnC, but it also depends by the draw.

Is Sergei also in China?

By the way, I noticed that Tarusina will participate at Russian Cup stage 4 (I suspect also 5) that means with good skating she is in, and both Fedichkina/Sakhanovich are out.
