Welcome, Da Bomb Diggidy! Fun name!

I'll have to check the train station, where you can buy a lot of special interest magazines, but usually no. They sold Pirouette at the rink in Oberstdorf, so I guess you can get it at rinks, other than that you have to order it from them directly.

Hmm, I thought that might be the case. There's probably very few countries where you can just buy skating magazines off the rack at a grocery store. Too bad.

I did some productive procrastination today, by watching sassy BB Shoma in 2011! So happy Annis Seed has the amazing Shoma collection. It helps ease the torment of waiting two weeks for Cup of France.

Finally had a chance to watch Sho's Skate Canada NBC FS commentary. I know Tara and Johnny are not everyone's cup of tea, but I found one of her comments very interesting:

T: Something to watch throughout Shoma's performance is the deep edges he gets. You have an outside and an inside edge and a flat. He is never on the flat. He is really leaning into those edges, which makes the movements look sweeping, soft, and smooth.

J: I thought portions of the program looked very rushed and he wasn't taking the time to get in and out of his jumps which actually hurt the quality of them. Several times he didn't reach back all the way to get the full spring into the air. But it's still early in the season.

I wondered if they would mention something about the costume, but they didn't!

ETA -- Too bad that when Tracy Wilson's comments are being quoted that people are leaving out the complimentary parts where they call him a Tornado on Blades with a nice ease across the ice, a very patient and engaging skater. (My words -- definitely not a perfect FS, but certainly not bad for the first "real" performance of the year. Also she really praised his SP 4F. They said other nice things too, but not necessary to write it all. )

That was an interesting comment about the edges. I've known that but haven't really thought what it means. I watched the FS again and he really doesn't do flat. Even when he's standing still in the middle of the program he's mostly on edge. Nice to learn new things from commentators :) Still haven't got over the last spin. It is absolutely gorgeous!! I could watch it all day every day  :cheer2: :points:

Totally agree. He is such an amazing spinner. I was so happy that those two judges who were sitting near me during the SP were so complimentary of his skating.

This time I agree with Tara. One thing about Shoma's skating that is so appealing to me is exactly his edges. Skating on an edge, carving the ice with curves and lines that will secure the blade to move along the track makes the skating look so smooth, it is a mastery in skating skills. The other skater I have seen doing this is Patrick Chan. Some other skaters also have good skating skills but sometimes I find them a bit too "flow-y", they move "light" and with flow but they do not really follow the track on the ice or hold their edges long enough to make a curve.

I can't wait to see Blurandot again. It is one of the very few Turandot programs that I really like. :luv17:

A compilation of the Uno brothers. The second photo is hilarious. Is this the true essence of them? Itsuki is always eating and Shoma is always sleeping .

Beautiful picture of Sho and Fluffy.

Hello! I introduce myself, I'm Belu, I'm from Argentina.
Obviously, I'm a Shoma fan.

First, I'll tell you how I met him.
As many should know, the anime Yuri on ice, that's where it all started, I got into a Facebook fandom and how it coincided with the GPF of, let's say, the real one.
In the fandom they shared a video of Yuzu Well, I saw it and I was fascinated (was Seimei). And just coincided that the GPF 16/17 was within my reach and I saw it complete live ... there the great thing starts haha, the first one to skate was Shoma, that at that time I still did not know him, and guess what, bye Yuzu hello Shoma .
It caught me completely, and as you know it was the first time I linked with the figure skating, so did not know how was the scoring system, the different types of jump, etc. I remember that at the end of the competition I said: Why did not Shoma win? why? :eeking: (until more than I understood the scoring system)
I'm still indignant haha.
From there I follow him, but in Latin America there were only fandoms of Yuzuru (Now there's already of Sho, But barely give information), so I looked for Shoma fandoms in English (in other words, here) but it was a shadow and read to all (I got more than a laugh, Seriously, Arriba, you gave the Calvin Klein? Haha)
Now I appear, and Hello!

Pd: I know that thanks to the anime there are many problems now, but I tell you that I can not relate two things, for my yuri on ice it is yuri on ice, Yuzu and Shoma and the others are not yuri on ice. Actually the fandom of Yuri on ice went to ... I do not know, but I do not like it and now the anime no longer attracts me as much as before. But real skating really attracts me (Well if I see a video of Shoma every day, I doubt I'm not interested )

pd 2: I'm a swimmer (and one of the best in my group), participated in tournaments (inferior and unofficial) and in a way I can understand the nerves and the pressure (Because I'm one of the good swimmers out there), I even understand that the environment is bad (cold water) and that the organization is chaos I really understand that haha.

I hope we get along!

Sorry for my English, It's very basic, I used internet help haha. I am learning Japanese and I would like to improve my English.

Hello! I introduce myself, I'm Belu, I'm from Argentina. Obviously, I'm a Shoma fan.

Bienvenida! Welcome to the fan fest of the prince! With France, GPF, Japan Nationals, and the Olympics coming up, this is a great time to join us!...Yes, after the SP, my gift for Shomita found its way onto the ice. It was one pair of ******* and a four pack of lip balm. It was all wrapped up in plastic, just because you have to be careful.

I am curious, being that you are from the land of tango, what were your impressions of Shomita's tango?...Your English sounds pretty good to me! :clapper:

Welcome Belkro!! So happy to see more Shoma fan joining this forum! Your English is very good so do not worry and post more! Let us cheer for our loco Prince on his way to the Olympics! Vamos!!!:hap10:

@belkro : welcome ;)

yup... once you discover little Shoma, it's bye bye to other skaters ;) I am a long time fan of skating, so i still have a few more skaters I adore ;)

@nolan

now that you talk about Shoma's edges, I hope I see him in 2019 Skate Canada or 2020 worlds... I have seen very few skaters skate like Patrick... because he goes so deeply but Shoma does have that quality we can see on tv so I wouldn't be surprised that he does it to and that it's more noticeable live... he has the big thighs like chiddy ;) my favourite boys :) I wonder if Han Yan is the same ?

@Arriba ;) own it lady :) no need to ******* your present ;) hahahahahahahaha... we all know what you gave him ;) btw : Shoma often opens presents on periscope or something... can you imagine if he did that and BANG ... undies LOL hahahahahaahahhahahaahahaha I'd love to see him try them on... i mean BLUSH :)

Welcome Belu! Had to laugh at your "Bye Yuzu, hello Shoma!" I think a bunch of people did "discover" Shoma by watching Yuzuru. Don't worry about your English, it's all good.

Anand, we're back to the undies! I'm wondering how you knew what size to buy, Arriba? ;-)

By the way, isn't it amazing how many magazines he's being featured on now? It seems like every two weeks there's a new one.

I knooow...next big one must be Kiss&Cry magazine will be sold on 15th, it has 40 pages for Shoma. after that, Kateigaho has two ver. one has a poster A, another one has a poster B plus a post card.

No ice show, then I have to pay for those lmao💰

And, we're back to the undies! I'm wondering how you knew what size to buy, Arriba? ;-)

I bought small which I would think would probably still be too big for little Shomita. I would love to be at a competition where a bunch of people throw gifts from https://lazyone.com/men/funny-boxers.html?p=1. Actually I think some of these are very appropriate for the prince!

About it, if you ask 95% of Argentines these questions:
What tango songs do you recommend?
How is the tango dance?
Who was the best singer of tango?

Everyone will answer you: I do not know.
I include myself in a certain way.

The only thing we do know is that Tango was born in our country. Nowadays tango is no longer heard, unless you go to old places there, yes.

With regard to Buenos Aires hora cero and Balada por un loco, Mihoko made the best choices, and it's more I think he translated all the lyrics because each step that makes fits perfectly with the meaning of the letter. I saw when he presented these songs for the first time in a show last year, it did not fit,
for more that there were no mistakes with the music, But in the GPF really fit much better, and too much, with the song.
And as I said before, Mihoko translated the lyrics and, you know what? OMITTED THE BEST PART. But anyway, in the end he did well by omitting them :scard7: hahaha

And thanks for the welcome, I do not think I find so much material since it is difficult to find here, skating is not popular. So I will only give opinions to what you find. :slink:

How heartwarming having all these veterans performing Turandot and lending their support to Shoma. Shizuka is so kind! Loved the clip with her daughter, what a woman.

The illusion mesh is too yellowish, imho. Shoma's skin is pale, ivory and the mesh is too dark. I think the costume is amazing and beautiful and it would certainly become him having that Gold around his neck, haha. It looks manly in its own sparkly way. What I wonder is that collar though, it looks a bit uncomfortable and stiff and I hope it's not too heavy or distracting, but if it is, I think Shoma's team will find a solution. Now I can't wait for the Winter costume!

Quoting myself from August, when the costume was revealed. :rofl2:

No news from Shoma's side are good news? I admit, I hoped he would be on his way to France by now.

Actually, my favorite parts there are his jumps on verbs like 'volar' (fly) and 'saltar' (jump). They are all in the second part of the program. I think Mihoko did translate the lyrics and omitted some parts for a reason, because apparently she was interested in these particular words that articulate Shoma's jumps -- and not just any jumps, but the most impressive ones in Shoma's repertoire (3A and 4T).
I was stunned by these correspondences between the text and Sho's layout, to be honest. I think Mihoko puts a lot of thought into Sho's programs. There are lots of interesting details there.
Yes, and welcome to Shoma's fan thread! :cheer:
