2017 GP Internationaux de France Ladies SP

move GP France somewhere else... seems like they cannot have good ice... last year was much worse though... but Kaetlyn skated like she couldn't trust her toe picks... only jump she felt okay with was the 2a... she was tentative like I have never seen her.... and before, Tukt and Lil Bet popped their lutz....

very strange...

Yes, I think Italy deserves it, they've got good skaters in all 4 disciplines (well, men are not great but they have some promising ones now) and I know there are a lot of skating fans there. Or Spain...they proved they can put on an excellent competition with the GPFs. France is just a trainwreck year after year.

Well, I can breath and type now. I'll tell you if ice was again a factor in these results, the ISU has got to pick a new host. It's an Olympic year, and no one wants skaters to get injured because of poor ice conditions. The skates today were off for everyone.

I don't think Ice has anything do to with it. It looks like every ladies cannot produce cleans programs GPs after GPs, even Evgenia. Yuna was great, Mai took the boards, Kaetlyn has mistakes but not huge and her performance was very good otherwise.

Is this Tracy there? Has any of the skaters mentioned bad ice? During practice or competition? I mean, we've seen many bad comps this GP season. I think it much comes down to being an olympic season... nerves, working on programs to get the highest results, trying hard tech that they don't master and such.

Yes, Tracy Wilson is in France doing the Olympic Channel broadcast. She mentions skater complaints but is not specific.

Tracy mentioning hard and crunchy ice with no give, that doesn't give back and you see toe picks slipping on takeoffs and that we've seen many of them making many skaters look uncertain.

Re the quality of the ice:

For those who understand French (I do not), this page (article, plus scroll down for a video) has some information about making the ice for this competition.

The page is from a few days ago.

I'm curious whether anything interesting is said??

It's so weird. Three of them skated probably the best GP in history two weeks ago in China and now they bring this... :scard8:

Sometimes, stars align and a great competition happens.
Today, a cat got to the stars and threw them all off the sky...

Maria's helicopter armed jumps are so unattractive. If you insist on jumping with your arm above your head, EXTEND that arm and quit bending at the elbow. Totally ruins her skates for me.
I've seen someone defining her tanos as flying noodles too. Even funnier.

I'd vote for Italy or Finland. I don't know about Spain. They were fantastic for the GPF but once Javi is gone is the excitement going to be there?

I'm going to put my vote in for Australia. New continents, new hemisphere!

The ice condition is really poor. On my CBC feed, it shows workers are pushing water away from the rink. (I have a screenshot, but I don't know how to upload it.)

What a joke!

lets see how the medals look like this year...they first lost Lalique, then Bompard, they will soon lose the whole event
