Many here disagree Artemisa. It's her version of Black Swan. She has studied ballet for 7 plus years and it shows in here presentation skills and her skating positions. She owns the ice projection wise. This, combined with the brilliance of Jeff Buttle, and I can't wait to see this program build in the season, as it can only get stronger.

German Eurosport kept saying that the probability of Russia being banned from the Olympics is getting higher. Can you imagine what that would mean for the Ladies figure skating? EVERYTHING would be possible. But I'd rather see the best of the World winning Gold.

They needn't go that far... it is so sad seeing any atheles get punished for the corrupted management. They should just ban the Russian judges and their affiliates instead.

Given that there is quite lot of Japanese companies sponsoring skating events, I sometimes wish the Japanese fans would pressure these sponsors to pressure JS federation to support or push the Japanese female skaters more.

Oh don't get me wrong. They aren't saying Osmond was underscored - they are just upset that her PCS wasn't high enough to hold off Sotskova and put Wakaba in the GPF.

So they are in a rather amusing and ironic situation of wanting higher scores for Osmond so it's convenient for them/Wakaba, when their go-to is calling her overscored.

My favourite skaters are Russian ladies at the moment and I completely agree with your last sentence.

On the other hand, I kept thinking "Olympic Gold for Ashley" in every unrealist wishes thread possible. Even that might come true if Russians get banned. I really need to be careful what I wish for I guess lol.

Speaking of PCS.....I am wondering why judges equate harder/more transitions to automatically having a better SS, presentation and choreography. I just don't get it. I can see that they are not mutually exclusive to each other but I really feel judges should sort it out.

If a skater can get a higher overall PCS from more/harder transitions alone, why bother with the rest of the aspect of skating?

Having more and harder transition doesn't mean automatically having better SS. Evgenya has a lot of transitions but her SS are not among the best, for example. Don't bother too much with the PCS. You'll go nuts otherwise. They have never made sense.

Do whatever the RusFed is doing to convince judges that Alina is a near-70 PCS skater, it's clearly working .
Joking aside, what's really hurting them at the moment IMO is that there's no clear hierarchy and Fed support for any of the Japanese girls, the Fed is letting them battle it out among themselves and it's been working out great so far

That's a problem I have with PCS. Due to anchoring, the subscores themselves become meaningless. If your SS is worth a 9 and the rest 1, it'll end up being like SS 9 rest 8.5 or so.


How about moving performance, transitions and SS to TES, or alternatively just having 2 separate PCS categories? One for technical ability and one for artistry. That way the scores could reflect the actual performances for the subscores as well.

It's the same with the Russian girls, really. Except for Evgenya but she has been around winning for the last years.
It happens when you have many who are good and Japan has more than one.
