Evgenia Medvedeva

News anchor there said that Medvedeva will skip Euro as well. I don't know how much you can trust it though.. usually major official sources gives verified info but some times mistakes occurs too. That, or he has access to some inside info before everybody else.

It's not a sports channel as I know. So you will never get any reliable or inside sport related information from these kinds of channels.
I would not even think about any information from these kinds of sources.
and btw it published 22 dec If it was true everyone would be talking about it for quite some time already.....
so it's really rubbish.

She says "I'm glad that the Korean audience is waiting for me and that I will have support there.
No matter under which flag we're going to compete, I want to show with my skating what country I am from and I want to show my best skating ever"

YAS! We are waiting for you, Zhenya! Hurry back.

I'm worried and happy at the same time. Praying for her health and success! I know she knows how much we support her and miss her

I just joined today after using golden skate for a while for "news" and other information on events and skaters. I am new to the sport so I don't have the knowledge of everything as you guys do (quietly learning through reading the forums), but Evgenia first grew my interest in figure skating two years ago. Her performances (particularly last season: "river flows in you" and her FS program for that season) brought me into the story she was telling in each program. it was impactful. Almost like a ballet, she unfurled a story and convinced the audience of it so that when the performance ended, it left an impact with you, inspired you in some way. It showed me that figure skating is indeed the rare mix of sport + art and has the potential to expand out from competitions to actual programs (think ballets or broadway musicals) someday. But the performer who is not just a strong athlete but is able to emote and evoke emotions out of the audience through the nuances and delivery of their performances raises the sport to another level. That's where Evgenia came in for me. She does that. Or I think so (especially last season's programs). I see Alina (Zagitova) having that potential as well. Maybe Eteri and their coaches deserve a lot of credit. Anyway, sorry for the long entry "break" in the discussion here. Just wanted to say hello. Look forward to the Euro! Keep on posting!

in vk group they say that Zhenya's letter to Wakaba says:

I wish good luck to everyone in the Championship of Japan.
And let's meet in the most important place!
Hold on, Wakaba!

Today I'm so sad that we won't see Wakaba at the Oly games. :( We will miss her and Zhenya too

Welcome! And :thank: for sharing your words with us !

To show how much Zhenya is supported by other russian skaters (ladies):

Maria Sotskova:

"It's sad that Zhenya couldn't participate. When she's present at the competitions, she pushes all of us forward, she's a leader. Let's wish her speedy recovery. "

https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20171222/1130445353.html

Polina Tsurskaya:

"It's a pity that Zhenya couldn't come to Saint Petersburg to the nationals. We are friends. I'm sure that she can recover till the Europeans and show her best. She's showed clean skating from many seasons and proved that she is the best."

https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20171222/1130437028.html

Alina Zagitova:

"We all wish Zhenya health and speedy recovery. I'm sure she will skate good at the Europeans in Moscow and show us the best result"

I believe she will be just fine  She is a fighter! And she looks really good)

RusFed just want to be sure Alina and Masha will be 1-2 because they want to sent them and Evgenia to Oly) that's why we see these scores)

Gosh, I miss those jumps  The 3S+3T is a dream - the extension of her body amidst the air with those arms above the head makes her look like a goddess when she skates. And the landings look smooth here, way better than at NHK!

And I agree completely. Their huge scores are a result of the usual inflation of PCS at any national championship. When competing at the same field with Evgenia, the judges will be reminded of the difference in the quality of her skating when compared to Alina, Maria or even Satoko and keep it real. I mean.. If Alina's PCS are above 9, than Evgenia should get straight up 10's across the board.

I really hope Evgenia has healed up completely and will return at the Europeans. The ladies' field isn't the same without her.. No one can match her musicality and charisma, I really hope she's healthy so she can put these girls into place

Alina Zagitova:

I'm glad Zagi keeps it real :agree2:

I would have liked a translation of what Eteri said in this Japanese report at this moment: https://youtu.be/iGz7Vx1o80c?t=254
(we never know, maybe a Japanese speaker in the corner, at least it speaks of percentage ^^)
It's mainly focused on Evgenia and a little about Zagitova, that's why I'm posting him here.

Eteri said that they try to do 150% at the training for 110% result at the competition. She added that "May be, you (japanese) think that this is the minus of us, russians..."
