Yes, she was injured at CoR. But it wasn't an impression from one competition, but a general statement - for example from WC17 too. Seriously, we can talk about any competition you want regarding that, but it is a general thing in her jumps.
(And AFAIK she wasn't limping at CoR, but at nhk. Not saying she wasn't affected by it, but still.)

Medvedeva's jumps look the same way when she's healthy, too. Stop with the excuses. It's infuriating that there are other skaters who jump effortlessly while injured and they don't need excuses like this, but don't get as much of a benefit of doubt.
 
As it's a new year now, I've been looking back at the first half of the season and attempted rating who I feel the most promising young skaters are. I thought I might as well share who I have as #1:

Elena Kostyleva

Just 6 years and 2 months old - Simply incredible.

Uhhh no they don’t look the same. Watch her 2017 worlds SP, if that doesn’t look effortless I don’t know what does tbh. In the LP, she skated nervously and hesitantly, watch her WTT performance which was miles better.

Her transitions in/out to her jump is impressive especially the spread eagle-axel-spread eagle seqeunce.

folks, this is kinda pointless. Hatters gonna hate, lovers gonna love.
Lets discuss something else.

Medvedeva's jumps are not perfect, but they are pretty fine compared to many top ladies. At least she doesnt look like she will fall or pop every time she leaves the ice.

:agree2: She has such a presence, gracefulness and sense of timing already for her age - Doesn't have the usual feeling of hastiness for these young skaters and she does what she does with good control and high quality. And the technical content is the most difficult for the level(The only thing she could do is also backload the first 1A), yet she didn't receive a single 0 GOE for this. Every judge gave her either +1 or +2 for every single technical element. Notably she is the only one who got +2 +2 +2 for the choreo sequence. Especially the first spin is also great. To me she's just out of this world good and I really look forward to seeing what she can do at the next level and when she advances there - Though she already is like the second-youngest competitor I've even seen for her current level this season.


On a different promising young skater:

Elizaveta Berestovskaya's Lutz

So rare seeing a Russian skater with a Lutz like this, isn't it? She has a very beautiful and light touch. No hammers or mule kicks are in sight, the edge is perfect all the way through and there's essentially zero pre-rotation on the toe pick. She still gets it all the way around despite the lack of height. I wonder who taught her, as her training partners certainly don't Lutz like this. She turned 10 in December.

What I'm wondering is whether we'll see some truly impressive newcomer for the JGP next season. As of right now, it's looking like the level of talent will fall off a cliff after the 2003-2004 age group.

I don't think there is a huge need to get strong newcomers for the next season, because there are too many girls right now, and most of them still will be competing in juniors next season, so, not much room for someone new. But after next season there might be some room for newcomers.
 
I have to say that you know me I don't like Medvedeva's skating, but I'm really impressed by her... She's such a champion: mindset, attitude at such a young age, very hard working.... She was on the ice even on the 31st!!
