Youtube popped up this program by Nathan Chen from years ago, skated to I Just Can't Wait To Be King. How appropriate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LNVumcxXdc

If it comes down to Jason vs Vincent for the Olympic Team and you were on the committee, who would you choose?

I’m a fairly new fan, I started really paying attention to FS a little after 4CC last year so I’m not too familiar with Vincent’s or Jason’s bodies of work but I really feel like we should present the skaters we are proudest of at the Olys and the skater I feel the most proud of is Jason-he’s overcome so much adversity by being quadless and really turned that into a strength. Also he was the one that helped secure 3 spots for us so it feels only fair. I’ve maintained the notion that even if Vincent scores a silver again at nats I would rather him go to 4CC or worlds and send Jason to the olympics

If the scores are close they should choose Vincent, easily. His scoring potential is much higher and he has shown improvements in his overall skating. He is part of the future of US men's skating and they should embrace that. He many not be consistent but he goes for it. Jason on the other hand has completely stagnated. He has been on the scene for how long now and has yet to show a quad in his program (and still shows not a hint of doing it) when all the top men are attempting at least three. His inconsistent 3A makes it worse. Funny how we've seen at these nationals Ashley getting dumped for being a stagnating veteran in favor of new potential while Jason continues to be a golden boy and she's accomplished far more internationally then he has![]()
Jason is not part of the future. He is the past. 1980s past.

It’s interesting that according to some people, Vincent, even though he hasn’t fixed his UR problems, that that’s okay because he’s developing artistically. But those same people are allergic to giving Jason the same benefit of the doubt. Why do people refuse to see how much Jason has developed in all areas besides jumps or that he’s “stagnating” because that’s just simply untrue

Sometimes I wonder if Jason also spent as much time practicing the quads as the quadsters would he have the time and energy to focus on developing those non-jump areas as much as he has. And vice versa. It’s interesting that according to some people, Vincent, even though he hasn’t fixed his UR problems, that that’s okay because he’s developing artistically. I would choose whoever the top 3 finishers are by default. If the committee want to try out different selection process then they can set up a new system and use it for the next Olympics and on. If somehow Brown and Zhou are tied in scores at the end, I might lean towards Zhou purely for him being a possible medal contender. Brown is known quality at this point and his score potential is limited, but Zhou's is not, and he can be a dark horse.

Um, apparently Jimmy Ma is going to go viral?! Don’t know if this is true or not.
See, it’s a great thing to step away from the warhorses and princess melodies and piano concertos of figure skating and try something new!
